Horizon Adult Health Care

They will work with you if you need time off which is VERY helpful when it comes to kids and school. That’s my favorite thing about the company. The training was basic cna training knowledge. The managers and staff seem very friendly. I’ve only ever had an issue with one person there about getting my paperwork completed and turned in etc when I first started. But once we got everything worked out I was able to finally get paid and my benefits started. The worst part of the job are the clients. Honestly. I feel like some clients will take advantage and nothing is done about it. We log daily tasks and I know that I have logged things that were out of my scope and nothing was ever brought up about it so I just continued to do it to be helpful to the client. Thinking that it was obviously okay. That’s my fault for allowing it but it is unclear what tasks are over the top and what tasks aren’t. I deep clean the clients WHOLE house every week, including scrubbing kitchen appliances inside and out etc. I’ve logged it every-time and nothing again was ever said when I know they read the tasks so I continue to do it. Figuring that they would text/email me and say hey that’s out of your scope. But honestly I feel like a maid. Instead of a caregiver. I’ve never received a raise and I’ve been here for over a year now. No advancement opportunities. Or none that I’ve ever heard of. I don’t hear from anyone from the company unless I have to call out,  if I have a question, they have mandatory training, or supplies orders. 

The company was very disorganized. They didn't provide any training and then after I started they started sending me people to train. It didn't make much sense to me because I never received any formal training, myself. I had to figure out where the client's homes were on my own. Some of the time Google would give me wrong directions. I would call the client to get directions which was hard because the clients are elderly and they don't understand what you are saying because they are hard of hearing. If I was still lost, I would call my supervisor and she had no idea where I was going because they are not from the area and had never been to their house. You have to clock in via phone and sometimes the places that you go to have little to no reception. Was told to use the client's phone.. but some of them didn't have phones. You are given a task list to complete and half of the tasks are not wanted by the client. I would try to perform the task and they refused. I would put it on the paperwork but still got in trouble for not completing the task. If the person doesn't want me to do their laundry and they can do it, I respected their wishes and got in trouble for it.

I absolutely loved my job and the clients that I was serving, would have loved continue working for them for years. You can really make a difference in people's lives while working for Horizon. 
However, if you do not have medical experience or have trouble handling possible medical emergencies then I would not recommend it. 
Also, you have to be extra careful about what you say to people. If you are a very open person who is unafraid to share your life or feelings in conversation then that tendency will cause trouble here. There was also a sink-or-swim attitude applied to job "training" in my experience, and it was very frustrating and unpleasant.

You may also be let go without warning or any chance to correct "problem" behavior. I cannot speak to advancement within this company, but I regret that the job security was completely lacking in my experience.

I loved being a part of PACE and I think it’s such an important program for the elderly. But even with how much the program meant to me, it wasn’t worth what I went through with this company. I experienced a lack of communication from management and when things went wrong, it often felt like they would just shift blame to anyone but themselves. Even when I would try to reach out with questions, I was often given incorrect information or treated like an inconvenience. I experienced blame and criticism with no appreciation. I felt excluded and unwelcome due to the cliquey environment that management seems to tolerate and participate in. In my role,  there was no opportunity for growth or advancement that I was aware of.  Unfortunately, this ended up being the worst job experience I’ve ever had. I encourage everyone to very carefully consider before applying to or accepting a position with this company. 

The local staff here are honestly great. They are kind, hardworking, and doing the best they can. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for management. There is constant miscommunication, and what little information is shared often changes or turns out to be inaccurate. 
There seems to be a pattern of dishonesty from management, which makes it hard to trust anything being said. On top of that, the environment created by administration feels cliquish and unwelcoming, very much like a “mean girl” atmosphere.
It’s frustrating because the frontline staff clearly care and put in effort, but they are being let down by poor leadership. This place has potential, but it desperately needs a complete management overhaul to create a healthier, more respectful, and more transparent environment. 

Love the clients and working with them. Company does not value the employees at all. Facilities are understaffed. Three employees cannot care for 25 elderly/medically fragile individuals, as well as complete paperwork, prepare meals, clean facility and provide recreational services. Training for positions is obsolete. I did not experience this much drama in high school. Most of the staff and regional management are back stabbing egotistical individuals. Don’t get me wrong there are some individuals who actually care about the work they do but they are the minority.  This company has the highest turnover rate I have ever seen. I would not recommend this company unless you thrive in a hostile environment. 

Toxic leadership, favoritism, hidden policies,retaliation concerns, and zero accountability. Disorganized and misleading from day one. Concerns about organization, licensing status, and internal communication were not clearly addressed with staff. Transparency is lacking, and employees are not consistently kept informed about important operational matters. When issues arise, there doesn’t seem to be a safe or neutral avenue to voice concerns without fear of retaliation.

Work-life balance
Work-life balance at Horizon Adult Health Care is great. Very flexible hours. You get to choose the time you want to work. It’s a great company!

I love my office people iv never worked with such wonderful people I love my job my clients like everyone else I wish it paid more but I live pretty comfortable since starting work iv had a few health issues and we have worked right threw it any other company that would have already threatened to fire me if I want answers I get them  imma telling you if ur reading this and you don't apply it's your loss  for missing out on such a life changing company  but you only get out of it what your willing to put in if your a lazy and can't pass a drug test don't waste there time loser 😜😂

Work at a Horizon center is good when dealing with the clients. The best part is knowing that you can be there for people and care for them when some of them don’t have families to help them. The work environment/management is TERRIBLE. Management does not care for their employees. Regional directors do not care how short staffed or workplace problems get. All that matters to them is that they do not have to come and work at the center. Management always side with the center directors for this very reason. Also when it comes to them not liking a employee they figure out quick how to get them to quit or fire them.
