What is the best part of working at the company?
Working in hospice home care is both meaningful and rewarding. The focus on comfort, dignity, and emotional support allows caregivers to truly make a difference in patients' lives during a vulnerable time. The team environment is compassionate and collaborative, with nurses, aides, social workers, and chaplains working closely together to provide great care. Although the work can be emotionally challenging, the supportive leadership and strong sense of purpose make it fulfilling. Building meaningful connections with patients and families is a powerful reminder of why working for hospice matters to me.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part of working in hospice home care is the emotional weight of constantly supporting patients who are dying and families who are grieving. Over time, that can lead to compassion fatigue and burnout.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Hospice home care typically has a compassion-driven, patient-centered culture focused on comfort, dignity, and quality of life rather than cure.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day as a Medical Records Clerk in hospice home care is organized, fast-paced, and rewarding. I start by reviewing incoming documentation, updating patient charts, and ensuring all records are accurate and compliant. Throughout the day, I coordinate with nurses, aides, and other team members to gather needed information and maintain complete, up-to-date files. While I’m not providing direct patient care, I play an important role behind the scenes, helping the care team stay organized so patients and families receive the best possible support. It’s a collaborative environment where attention to detail really makes a difference.

I came into an interview for a position that was listed part time during the weekend. During that interview, they decided me they liked me enough to offer me (on the spot) a full time position that works blend the weekend position I applied for and a part time weekday position that was about to open up.

I was very encouraged with the atmosphere. I was going to be a chaplain. They remarked that their environment was very christianly as the CEO is a Christian. I was happy to be in such a positive atmosphere.

Then I came on... The training was being done primarily by someone who shouldn't have been back to work (struggling through a cancer). She was at appointments about half the time and the other two days a week I was off because I worked the weekends. Her and the other chaplain on staff both constantly made remarks that training me was hard because of the schedule they gave me. I decided to work through it.

Many things went unnoticed for a couple of months. I was told differing aspects (dress for the week was business casual and dress on my weekend position was more casual). I was told I could "make things my own" but scolded every time I came up with an idea. 

Within the first 3 months they decided to terminate my employment. Why? Because obviously I wasn't trained. The way they said it, "there's just some things we expect you to know."

Like having to be at work by 8am despite having written evidence in an email I was told be there by 830. Like having chapel at 10am on weekends even though the weekday chaplain texted me to "do it whenever you want, but make sure to do it."

The manager and hr representative got together to lie their way through letting me go. I didn't apply for such a messed up schedule. They are the ones that offered it to me and then used it to screw me when they saw it wasn't working.

And pretty much every hospice in Arkansas pays better than Hospice Home Care. I was pleased with the pay at first until I found out I was being screwed on that, too.

I start my day in report, getting updates on the patients in the unit, how their nights were, what PRN medications they required, if any new orders were obtained, whether there was a change in their overall status, etc.
I leave report and begin my first rounds, checking on patients to be sure they're either asleep, awake but comfortable, or have an immediate need.
I spend the day assessing patients, giving medications/treatments, doing lots of family communication/interaction, rounding with the doctors, documenting on a nursing note everything that happens with my patients that particular day. I end my day typing the shift report for the oncoming nurses, and then giving report to them.
I learn new things ALL the time, which is one thing I enjoy about the job.  I had not worked with older adults before, so many of the medications were new to me, and the pathophysiology of each disease and how that disease affects various organs and systems keeps me learning daily.
My favorite part is doing direct patient care, and the hardest part of my job is that I get to do very little of this!  There is so much paperwork, that some days I feel like that's all I do. I think because 99% of our patients are on Medicare, and thus, our paperwork has to meet and/or exceed Medicare's standards, the amount of paperwork is overwhelming and seems to be increasing by the day.
Regarding management, I have had three different PCCs (bosses) in the 19 months I have been an employee there, so management is not a strength of the company.
I feel this all I would like to share at this point, so I hope my thoughts are sufficient.

Case load varies according to census levels. Nurses work together as team players to provide patient care needs. Time constraints for traveling and patient documentation can be overwhelming at times, and often times documenting was after work day was over. Took work home many days. Being on call was the biggest downfall. Working all day, being on call all night for 5 counties, and then having to be back at work next morning was exhausting.  Having a call nurse was helpful in alleviating the stress of working full time and being on call. The attitudes of staff were awesome, believing in being their best, helping each other, and providing the best for patients. I felt administration neglected our facility and only cared about numbers, rather than the quality of care this great team of nurses, nurse aides, social worker, volunteers, chaplain, and office manager provides to these communities.  Employees are not compensated for the hard work, long hours, and giving up their family life to be apart of continuing excellence through great care for this communities patients. I feel this facility is overlooked by the CEO, and higher management,  since it is a more rural site of care, patients are spread out, requiring nurses and staff to drive long distances to see patients.

A typical work day for me consist of a prayer before I start work. I pray for myself,  staff and my patients.  I began by asking how the patient is doing and let them know the plan of care each step.
  I learned to enjoy life and to live in the moment and to be a positive light to the sick and shut in.
I work with a great group of young women and they treat the staff with love and respect. 
The hardest part is leaving the  client whose not being care for adequately after I leave the homes or facility. 
I enjoy having meaningful conversations while I  care for my patients,  I enjoy learning about their family,  childhood and life experiences and lessons they've had. 
I enjoy taking care of people and to show them and their families we care about them.  

The job is rewarding and has some emotional challenges.  Their living conditions are worst than other. Most of the time I do extra to ensure a safe and clean space.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Interprofessional team work, that develops a plan of care that is individualized for the patient / family and caregiver. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The on call when you have to travel distances late in the evening or during the middle of the night to areas that have very little security and some questionable environments. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The culture is very accepting of interdisciplinary input and accepting of diversity. Allows for flexibility and the team is supportive  of each other and willing to step up as needed. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Able to create schedule that meets patient/family and my schedule to meet the patients needs. There is usually time during the day to have lunch along the way. Charting occurs during the day and at the end of visits. There are often calls to patients or families to discuss plan of care or to determine schedule needs. At each visit, medications are reviewed and medications are ordered as needed.

I can genuinely say that Hospice Home Care is the best company to be with! From day one, (I have been apart of Hospice Home Care team for six months now) I've been extremely happy! The entire team from the CEO, office staff, other CNA's, the nurses, social workers, chaplins have ALL treated me like family. The care I've seen provided for our patients and their families is top notch, genuine, professional and loving. I recieved the training I needed, any and all questions are answered throughly and without judgment. Nurses are so quick to assist, too! We all know that's not the case anywhere you go... but here, you have great individuals to rely on, look up to, and build friendships with. I would highly reccomend becoming apart of our amazing team! I'm blessed to have such a great career. 

I enjoy being able to comfort patients and their family during such a difficult time in their life; assuring that the individual(s) are comfortable,  content, and smiling as much as possible as we care for them. 

I would not recommend working for Hospice Home Care. While I truly enjoyed caring for my patients, the work environment was extremely toxic and made it difficult to enjoy the job itself. CNAs are expected to give their all every day, yet many of us felt unheard, unappreciated, and unsupported.

There was a lack of open communication, and concerns brought forward by staff often seemed to go nowhere. CNAs did not have a voice, and it felt like our opinions, experiences, and concerns were not valued. Instead of creating a positive and supportive workplace, the environment often felt stressful and discouraging.

The patients were the best part of the job, but the workplace culture outweighed the positives. It is honestly a relief to no longer be employed with this company. Healthcare workers deserve to work in an environment where they are respected, listened to, and appreciated for the care they provide every day.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Working with the volunteer coordinator to bring joy to the patients in their last days.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The clinical specialist are critical and impossible to please. The supervisor is a micro manager and doesn’t consider job performance and going above and beyond taking call and volunteering to provide excellent care on weekends off into the equation when being considered for raises.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic. The supervisor plays favorites with her best friends and creates a very clicky environment. If you are an outsider you are stabbed in the back and dumped on and talked about to everyone.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I enjoyed one on one with my patients. But trying to do office work is next to impossible. Constant talking, interruptions and chaos.
