Hospice of the Midwest is a team like no other! The company created a great team of skilled clinical hospice personnel providing companionate bedside care to clients, families and care partners all the of the same quality care. The whole team at Hospice of the Midwest goes above and beyond in their every day work tasks, with grace and ease, from a great place in their hearts. 

New and skilled hospice team members are joining the company through 2019, because Hospice of the Midwest is growing. I couldn't be prouder to work with the group. I have a rich background from other home hospice providers, but since joining Hospice of the Midwest, I would not want to work anywhere else!

My experience working at Hospice of the Midwest not what I expected upon my interview.

I absolutely love working for HMW. I feel valued as a person and as an employee especially when I doubt myself. My favorite part of the job is honoring the veterans that come onto service with their own ceremony or doing a mass ceremony at facilities for Veteran's Day. The teams I work with excel at their job and collaborate well with each other. I had never considered working in hospice, but now I can't see myself doing anything else. I have a sense of purpose within this company and I feel myself making a difference. I love it!

Every job has pros and cons. We have a strong hospice team with good mutual support. The managers are supportive and they listen well. However, upper management puts too much pressure on the hospice workers. There is a pervasive push to expand the territory before workers are hired to meet the needs of the new patients. Upper management is out of touch with the face to face needs of people who are dying. 

I love working with positive, caring, enthusiastic people!! I have the opportunity to be part of an amazing team who cares about each other. It is a warm nurturing environment to grow in. I love taking care of our patients and families. We honor veterans. We treat our elderly with dignity and respect. We take customer service very seriously. I am proud to be part of something that shares the same values as I do.

Our team is very supportive of one another. If someone is struggling personally or in their Hospice role I feel most of my coworkers are supportive of one another. 

Everyone supports each other and there is a lot of team collaboration.  It's evident that everyone is doing their best to care for their patients and support their co-workers.  We have wonderful leadership and are supported in our roles.  It's exciting to be part of a growing company and look forward to the future and growth opportunities within the company. I love my job and my co-workers!

Keeping up with the documentation is a challenge

HOM works hard to give us work/life balance

On average starting at 8am and finish at 5pm

The team I worked with. Some of the best ladies I've ever worked with.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Handling a heavy caseload, and sometimes a lot of driving.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It's like working with family.

I give hospice of the Midwest a 5 star rating they have well trained nurses and aides to care for the terminally ill patients we provide hands on care always willing to work as a team to help one another out very flexible with family needs reward you with good work ethics.
