...Unless you enjoy a stressed out atmosphere, and having 'representation' on speed dial.  Keeping this job has deteriorated my relationships since new management surfaced.. New management, who exemplifies inept, glorified incompetence. They are essentially a group of friends who refer more unqualified, ill equipped management. I've worked in hospitality for 25 years. These are not minor issues that inevitably surface. Management has no accountability and does not envoke thoughtful leadership. Here's this years recap of this year alone; reduction of hours for hourly workers, sales team has unrealistic goals which are often raised to double, bonus structure was decrease, time at office lengthened daily, loss of employee discounts on rooms, no concern for family or work-life balance... You will not be paid at all. Management is reducing costs everywhere but their own pockets. Everyone else, and I mean everyone, is absolutely miserable. There's a lot of turn over. Management said they are encouraging this turn over. They are encouraging change. They promised us last year, after numerous layoffs, no more layoffs. Yet, they continue to occur. There is zero job stability. Employees feel discouraged and unappreciated. There's a great deal of mumbling and employees shopping for other positions. It's impossible to sell when internal confidence is obsolete.

•	Maintaining the general ledger and preparing timely financial statement packages and supplemental schedules per the requirements of the Corporate Accounting Department;
•	Preparing lease abstracts for all leases and amendments;
•	Coordinating and reviewing all billing revisions and record transactions in the JD Edwards database for accuracy;
•	Calculating tenant CAM charges in accordance with lease terms;
•	Acting as Manager on Duty “MOD” in mall management professional training;
•	Participated in the leasing efforts of the property;
•	Working with internal and external business partners to document and record ownership level transactions and adjustments impacting the portfolio based on relevant legal documents;
•	Preparing monthly NOI variance reports and providing narrative explanations in accordance with SOX and corporate accounting policies and procedures;
•	Responsible for annual budgeting and periodic forecasting;
•	Preparing year-end audit schedules and assisting with auditor inquires;
•	Supervising the activities and training of an onsite Associate Mall Accountant and Mall Accountant; and 
•	Successfully assisting with the Seaport’s Hurricane Sandy Insurance Claims, The New York City Audit and testifying on the company’s behalf in legal proceedings.

I don't know what people are willing to put up with down in Texas where this company is from but it does not fly here. Women are disrespected, men interrupt and talk over them constantly. If you are a person of color there is NO representation at all. If you stick up for yourself be prepared to be spoken to by HR about being "aggressive" or "too vocal". The entire executive group is old white men who are in denial and don't know how closed minded they are. The only woman who was there was fired while her sexist boss was given a promotion.
Don't bother speaking to HR all they do is take notes and "apologize that you feel that way"
Don't even think of asking for a raise and that bonus is a joke. The moment you know your worth they suddenly have a laundry list of things you need to work on and excuses why you aren't eligible for a pay increase. Unless you are WHITE- then you will be fine as long as you keep your mouth shut and kiss white guy butt

Horrible company in regard to providing stability and promotion. Company’s focus was on output not the emotional and physical toll the output had on the staff completing the actual task. Very driven on revenues and profitability of the organization.

Very abusive environment for staff members. Only cares about certain teammates. Was lowered into the company with promise of promotion and was later told promotion was not an option unless a person in the organization left. Was also told I’d be management and later was a individual contributor.

Left a stable high level position with an employer of 9 years, to join the organization and was treated so terrible, absolutely no respect was given to me.

During my time there, there were 2 CEOs. They both talked incessantly about how the company was about the people. When Covid essentially shut business down in the NY office, they laid off most of the staff "temporarily," and said they would rehire everyone as soon as business picked up. A few months later they changed the layoffs to permanent and used the excuse that we were not employees as a reason not to pay out severance. So much for the company being about the people.

There is a real lack of structure and everything feels like we're flying by the seat of our pants. Crazy amounts of money are spent on a whim with little planning and terrible outcomes. There is a general mistrust of management because of the poor planning and decision making, as well as nepotism.

From my experiences with the company, as long as you are willing to put in the work and speak up when things are bothering you, you can make some great money. I learned how to deal with high end guests and tricky situations and if you're not looking for a permanent job here it looks great on the resume later. Management differs based on where you work, but the big bosses always stop by and appreciate hearing feedback and dealing with issues. They like to choose spirited workers, so expect your team to be a variety of strong personalities. Hardest part of the job may be dealing with high strong guests and slow days, but people stick around for the great benefits/pay and fun coworkers.

there was a significant gap between what was promised during the interview process and what was actually delivered. It can be a difficult place to work, as there seems to be a strong focus on financial gain by senior management, with less attention given to the well-being of employees. There is a clear lack of transparency from the the leadership team including the CFO and they dont seem to value the importance of valuable employees. Additionally, there have been concerns regarding HR practices, with some feeling that there are issues with professionalism and fairness. While many are aware of the challenges, there seems to be little action taken to address them.

I like that most positions are hybrid (WFH 2 days and on-site for 3 days). My particular position allows one day to WFH, which I still appreciate greatly. The environment is very positive, and I feel supported as an employee on multiple levels. There are opportunities for learning, growing, volunteering, etc. I had only worked in small businesses prior to coming to Howard Hughes but was always told that the corporate world was rough, and employees were just a number. The exact opposite is true at Howard Hughes. I feel valued and part of a family. I have never been happier in my professional life. 

IT department relies on an MSP and contractors but provides very little work and directions.

IT manger lacks the skills to lead a team and does not know the names of her own staff.

After months of contract employment , still not provided a garage pass.

3 month contract was renewed hours before ending.

Contractors left without direction, adding little value, felt zero commitment and job security from the company. 

Company is eliminating work from home on Fridays.  IT is largely cloud based yet requires in-office.

Contractor compensation is market rate but lacks any benefits or PTO.

No amount of catered lunch will improve a mediocre role.

Howard Hughes is a great company to work at with great people.  The company values their employees with not only excellent compensation packages but exceptional benefits.  The culture is high energy, exciting and encouraging to employees who are entrepreneurial .  Howard Hughes has several different regions within the United States and employees have the ability to apply to transfer to different positions in other regions which allows career growth even though HHC has many long term employees.
