Hudson is really a great place to work.  Each intern works with a different scholar so the areas of interest are incredibly diverse.  This makes office conversation with coworkers really intriguing.  Hudson is constantly hosting events with incredibly interesting speakers, interns are often encouraged to go if interested.  The only and biggest downside so far is that interships at Hudson are unpaid.  This is really unfortunate if you cannot afford to work for free.  I am incredibly fortunate to have secured funding through my university, otherwise I would not be able to take this opportunity.  That being said, if you're able to get an internship here I would absolutely recommend it.  Hudson is incredibly prestigious, especially in the DC area, and you will have the opportunity to network with dozens of engaging experts across all areas government and politics.

There are dozens of other interns doing your same job, so you will begin your work being the fifth set of eyes peering over on documents that others already edited. But if you work hard and show that you're willing and able to do the writing and research work made available, you will be able to perform interesting research and contribute to articles in a substantial (albeit unacknowledged) way. The best thing however is that it is extremely flexible and you can do as much or as little work as you have time for and there is no dead time at the office.

This organization was very flexible to work with. Personally, I was not able to go to Washington, D.C. for the internship, so they allowed me to complete a telecommute internship where I worked from home throughout the summer. I was in charge of my own hours and was able to make my own schedule. Perfect summer internship for a student!

My work at Hudson was memorable since I had to deal with a very interesting and hot issues happening in a world politics and in the field of security. 

I found my supervisor very helpful and he always has time to respond  rapidly, the work is not stressful and the time schedule is very flexible.

Flexible unpaid internship with accommodating director and interesting material. I liked the freedom to pursue topics of interest and the understanding that interns may have other obligations in addition to the internship.

Gives you what you put into it; as little or as much work as desired. Given a list of projects to choose from and then all the prior work on the project to further build on. Projects can last anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of months to dive into.

The experience at Hudson has been extremely informative and rewarding, but is completely unpaid. I however, enjoy the assigned materials and relaxed management.

Work demands were clear but not unreasonable, with lots of guidance from supervisors. Being an unpaid intern meant we had to really like the work, otherwise it wasn't worth it. Luckily though, I did enjoy it a good deal

Great telecommunicating internship programs. The program allows you to work from home and the resident scholar is patient and approachable. Great opportunity to gain foreign policy experience.

I really liked working at the Hudson Institute. They are very kind and understanding. The work you do is very interesting  and it feels like you make a difference.
