HR is definitely NOT there for support of their Employees, rather than helping Hide wrong doings of their Supervisor's & longer termed Employee's. Staff should all be expected to act in adult fashion and not that of childish manner. All staff should be expected to complete all job task and favoritism should not allowed by a Supervisor. When complaints from a Employee are taken about wrong doings in behavior by longer termed Employee to the Supervisor, it should be upheld by the Supervisor & HR to then act accordingly to Company Policy. I was not the first Employee/Co-Worker to experience this wrongful treatment by fellow Co-workers but I was the first to go above my Supervisor's head when after a month of it, she still did nothing of it! By doing what was right and what we teach our children is "The right thing to do".. it was turned around on me and they let me go.
The ER, MED, SURG AND CCU Staff are AMAZING to work with, Patients are great and other than HR not standing up and actually INVESTIGATING Employee Complaints & Listening to the "Little Man".. I did enjoy working at HMH.

My co-workers were so sweet and helpful. Some of the nurses were horrible and did not help with patient care. Some days I was the only Cna on the floor with 20 patients and 6 nurses that wouldn’t help. It’s hard work when the floor is full but easier when other Cna’s are there because they will help you with the difficult patients. Med/surg floor 2 is the one I described above and it is horrible! Trust me any floor is better. ER is great. The floor for surgery and rehab is great and they have a better staff of great nurses. But the second floor he’ll no. The pay was good and they always had overtime if you needed it. You could pick your own schedule and what days you wanted. It was all done on the computer so you could even do it from home.Also they pay is okay for Huntsville but if you go to the hospitals in Conroe and the woodlands they are gonna pay you a ton more. Choose wisely cause Huntsville ain’t worth it.

My typical day at work is pretty busy, I am collecting and processing specimens of all types from patients on all hospital floors including ICU, ER, Med/Surg, Ob, and out patients. Adults and Pediatrics. ( Heel sticks, finger sticks, PKU's). Because of my experience, there isn't anything that I've really learned here. The management in the Lab department is extremely poor, allowing young unprofessional and inexperienced employees to violate the dress code, have unlimited breaks and lunches, unlimited tardies and absences. They run the show and do as they please. They also bully and harass the new employees, which causes the new employees to quit and is why they are constantly hiring. The hardest part of the job would have to be dealing with those employees. Having to do work for too and being harassed on top of it is really stressful. The most enjoyable part of my job is getting to do my job and be with my patients.

Working for Huntsville Memorial was an excellent example of our failing health care system. The unfortunate part is most of the local residents do not have an alternative for their healthcare needs for more than 30 miles. 
Nurses speak negatively about their patients within ear shot, they refuse to properly treat persons with mental health diagnosis,and most share in a "Good ole' boy mentality". The lack of diversity in the workplace is ridiculous in 2019 but they wonder why their hospital is failing and bleeding money.

At times the pace was extremely slow, would like to have been busier.
We were exposed to some lab duties until lab came on full time.
Management was fair to me but others had felt there was favoritism.
The main ER is very stressful and lacked teamwork when I was there.
In the free standing ER the most difficult part was often arranging for transfers. A lot of phone calls and back and forth between physicians. 
The most enjoyable part was that it was a small close knit group that got along well for the most part.

It is known in the community that patients would rather drive on  to the next hospital than stop here and with good reason.  Nursing staff are not nice to patients, or each other; providers are arrogant and not nice to patients and at time refuse to speak to patients.   Management in the ED perpetuate dysfunctional employee culture by encouraging constant complaining about coworkers and not enforcing that everyone do their jobs.  People who are happy within themselves can offer great service to their customers.  There are quite a few unhappy employees working here which means they aren't capable of giving great care.  My suggestion is they clean the slate and start fresh!

This place has been circling the drain for years. I moved units, and that was the best part. I was a part of a dream team that set my standards to high for future workplaces. Unfortunately, the team slowly separated. 
Only other good thing was that they used to offer bonuses fairly regularly, but it came with knowing you’d likely still be short when you got there. 
The company didn’t care a lick when I became sick with COVID-19 due to their own poor policies. This places doesn’t care about to as an employee at all. 

I was hired into the Case Management Department told that I would be doing Utilization Review for the first several months until I learned it. That did not happen. I was immediately put on the floor with minimal training on one of the computer systems. Case Management uses 3. It was utter Chaos at best. I was able to move into the position of the Community Case Manager until the manager that hired me left the hospital for another position. Case Manager. Petty issues like was my door open or closed to my office were the norm , I was relieved when my position withy the hospital was eliminated.

HMH is a small community hospital. Staffing is good....most of the time. The staff has been, so far, great to work with. Teamwork is fair. The only real downside is that at night there is no MD. Only MD is in ER and will only respond to codes. Overall, it is a great work experience; we help a lot of people and their families. HMH is growing some, but not as fast as the community we serve. If you are looking for a place to help make a difference in both the hospital and the community we serve, then this is the place. We need staff that is willing to help grow health services for the community we are serving.

A typical day at work for me is going in at three pm and Starting by taking blood pressures and passing ice. Next I Chart the Blood pressures on the medical computer system.I take the blood pressures every four hours along with anything else i am need to do.
I have learned respect and personal skills. I enjoy my Employer And My Co-workers are very nice and easy to get along with. The hardest part of my job is...well nothing is hard to me i like having a fast paced environment and friendly people that is the most enjoyable part of my job.
