I would not recommend this organization. You will be sold a dream where the culture is booming, the people at the top care about you, and your hard work pays off. What they sell you and what you get are on opposite ends of the spectrum. It is highly discouraged to be honest about the environment and it is frequent that the company as a whole is reprimanded publicly for speaking with each other.  Falling in line is not an option, and that is made clear if you attempt to make an effort at speaking up. 

Pay is well below industry average unless you hold a high title, it is difficult to take time off due to the backlog of work that builds up, and the executives frequently celebrate the profit we have brought them while many employees struggle to meet basic needs. I have often referred to working here as living in the twilight zone, each day living in an utter state of confusion, uncertainty, and absurdity. This organization is out of touch and us working on the ground tend to function regularly in an unhealthy state. Job seekers, this workplace is not normal, functional, or healthy. If you are looking for a position where you have balance, freedom, encouragement to contribute, and a safe space to settle down, this is not the place. It does not matter how hard you try to keep your head down, you will feel the consequences of this poorly run practice. What may have started as a meaningful mission has turned into a corporate nightmare fueled by greed and power hungry SVPs and executives. 

You will find other companies who will put you first. Don’t settle and be encouraged to find what you are looking for. 

At Huron Law Group (HLG) everyone is considered family. When someone is sick or away from the office, other members of the team are asked to help cover their work duties. This is fine because the work is pretty easy. What is hard about this job is you are subject to termination at any moment. You are micromanaged and watched like a hawk. You are hired for being personable and kind and smart but they don't want any of that exhibited on phone calls. They want your recorded telephone calls, brief, scripted and to the point. The goal is to get people enrolled and onboard, not to make them feel heard or to reassure them they are making the right decision.
 
So, what is a typical day: review 100 or so files quickly a day, analyze offers from creditors everyday, make recorded telephone calls (could be 3 a day or 11 a day), and review pro se answers. The job is easy yet voluminous, enjoyable yet stressful from micromanagement.

Would I recommend this job? If you don't like thinking for yourself, this is the perfect job for you. If you are an independent thinker or question systems and processes, you won't like this job.

Worst part about the job: upper management and the higher level employees pretend they are nice but they really are  c--ut throat bosses and assistants.

I am incredibly grateful for my experience at this company. From the directors to the supervisors and my co-workers, everyone is incredibly supportive and always willing to lend a helping hand. The work culture here is outstanding, and it’s clear that fostering a positive, collaborative environment is a top priority.

A typical day is a few phone calls, Zoom meetings, reviewing legal pleadings & also reviewing client's files. talking to the settlement agents & other attorneys, sometimes going to court. Learning how a debt resolution law office is run that has both employees in the brick & mortar office but most working remotely. They have office meetings once a month with everyone & put us into small groups in break out rooms to get to know each other. The attorneys who go to court also meet regularly to brainstorm ideas & ways to improve our system. The volume of cases is high but it the lowest stress legal job ever. The people are nice & when I had a dental emergency, my boss approved 5 hours that same day so I could see dentist. Next day dog had a Vet appointment. Lots of "flex" time for medical appointments so you don't have to use vacation time. When I have a question, I can get a prompt response from my supervisor, usually the same day.

Huron Law Group is fantastic - from executives to management, mid-level to support staff. Most jobs are entirely remote. Despite this, and unlike most other firms, the work stays at work and you don't need to worry about much off hours. Additionally, the firm makes a huge effort to try to integrate its staff and encourage social connection through weekly video meetings, games, and social get-togethers. This makes an incredible work-life balance that I haven't experienced in over two decades as an attorney. The firm is growing incredibly fast meaning plenty of room for growth opportunities if one has such a desire and is so willing. Our executive staff is incredible and really cares not only about its employees, but also, and most importantly to me anyway, its clients in ensuring, to the best of its ability, that their needs are taken care of and that they succeed. If you perform and do what is asked, you will really enjoy and succeed at Huron Law Group.

Having worked in this industry for quite some time, with experience representing both creditors and consumers, once I began working for Huron I knew I had finally found my long-term firm.  I work with an amazing team of talented attorneys and support staff, and the firm prides itself on offering employees a true work/life balance. Attorneys generally work only 40 hours a week and the firm is understanding of the demands that come with life, such as doctor appointments, school meetings, etc. Although systems and processes are often changing due to ongoing growth, this continued expansion gives me a sense of job security. Semi-annual bonuses and annual merit increases have ensured my salary doesn't remain stagnant.  My bosses are generally approachable and understanding, and have undeniably worked to create an environment where I feel valued and am able achieve my own professional goals. 

Remote work is not for everyone. First of all, no commute = no excuses. Self-starters and attorneys looking to balance their lives would like a role with this firm.  The duties are clear and are manageable throughout the work day.  This role is ideal for an older attorney who needs a change of direction from a high-stress legal atmosphere in government,  criminal law or family law. It also offers the flexibility of travel, providing you have a quiet and dedicated room for work. Long hours aren't necessary and no more ruining your weekends or vacations preparing for several trials. 

The management is fantastic. I actually feel valued and get this.... no work drama!

Wonderful full-time remote position that provides a perfect work life balance. Workplace culture is top notch and the company truly cares about their employees while also recognizing certain holidays that many other companies choose to ignore. On a daily basis as an attorney, you may have multiple relatively short calls with clients, review drafts that were prepared by paralegals, review settlement offers, and regularly review/monitor assigned client files. No guilt vacations or issues with planned appointments or last minute emergencies. Comparable pay depending on your position and experience.

After being laid off in March, I had to trust that God had better plans for me and that I would still be able to help people, which has always been my purpose in becoming an attorney. Joining Huron Law Group has shown me exactly that.

At Huron, I’m able to lift people up when they may be at some of the lowest moments in their lives, and that is work I’m truly grateful for. The culture is incredible, supportive, collaborative, and filled with people who genuinely want to help one another succeed. It has been a true soft landing after a difficult few months, and I’m thankful to be part of a team that aligns so closely with my values and purpose.
