Husky Injection Molding

Husky looks like a good business from the outside if very different on the inside. There are some great employees working there but the management is some of the worst I've ever seen. The benefits are decent. Your looking at about $100 a month on a single medical plan with a high deductible. Approx $1,300 before anything is relay covered besides preventive care. 5% 401K match which is very good. For those benefits and and decent salary, they own you. You'll be scared to do anything wrong for the fear of being terminated. Salary means you work until 5:00 even if there is nothing to do during a slow day but if its busy, be prepared to work at least 50 to 60 hours a week. Serious favoritism in every department where management will let a lot of things slide of employees their friends with outside work and others doing the same thing will see serious disciplinary action. Management doesn't talk to one another and doesn't have any direction. Ideas that you may think are helpful should be left to yourself as this will label you a problem. Five years ago this was a fantastic place to work. In the most recent years, team building has decreased to next to nothing and has become a hostile work environment. Its really a shame to see and watch some really great fellow employees not be happy to come to work anymore. I would look else ware for a job.

My typical day is putting out the latest issue. Our company has global warehouses and I am here to resolve any problems that come up throughout the day along with developing and training on new processes in local warehouses.
I've learned to multi-task here more than any other job and how to deal with differnt cultures thoughout different regions in the world.
Management here is difficult to get in touch with and big picture focused. Current management has been very hands off with my day to day work and have trust in me that things are getting accomplished.
My co-workers have all been great. They are what makes the days enjoyable. I am currently in a location where I am the only one employed by my company, but have been welcomed.
The hardest part of the job is managing all the different requests that come through on a daily basis. We have some high profile customers and I need to be aware of any issues that arise each day to be able to answer to management about root causes and how we are resolving and correcting for future.
The most enjoyable part is hearing the appreciation of co-workers when their request has been taken care of.

Husky Area Manager's offer a consultive sales approach unique in industry.  The position requires competence in many disciplines including melt delivery systems, injection molds, automation, production machines, and competitive landscape.  Customers rely on my expertise to delivery state-of-the-art solutions to their injection molding production requirements.  Result is the development of an individual with strong injection molding application knowledge with excellent communication skills.  Since moving to sales my responsibilities have increased on a yearly basis and now include coverage of the entire Northeast region, a region which had five Area Managers my first year in sales.  My goal is to move into a Management position, and opportunity limited at Husky.

Very corporate ‘metrics’ performance reviews, not so much where someone is at learning at their own pace. 

Ridiculous amount of standards to follow (not really any standards, every piece of the puzzle unlocks an entirely different piece of the puzzle with different standards.). Many ‘new released’ items are not supported by the checklists, so a lot of back and forth on what’s right and what’s wrong on newly implemented/revised products.  Low wages especially for the cost of living in the state of Vermont. This is also a multi billion dollar company so there’s no reason to up wages to allow employees to live comfortably with the constant increased costs of living.

 Year end merits and bonuses held over your head if not meeting ‘corporate metrics’ of performance. 

Being a service based company the work hours varied on a weekly basis to meet customer and production needs. I learned a lot being with the company 23 years and much was spent on training in the past compared to now. Management has changed dramatically recently and unfortunately technology has surpassed this company from a support aspect. People in the field are considerably unrecognized for their efforts and not in line with the factory. The company is fair with compensating for time away from home was the most enjoyable part of my job and what I enjoyed the most was dealing with customers.

You get thrown into your position, working with people who each have their way of doing things, and then get negative feedback when you don't know which way is correct or that you did it wrong. Forget about asking for support. I had a recurring issue, asked multiple times for a solution, and was always placed on the back burner. People in the offices have no idea what it takes to do this position,  but are quick to criticize if you forget to send feedback after working 14hrs a day all week. 

Lots of regional and some international travel. 
Most collegues are indutry experts with a decade or more of industry experience, so you do get to learn from some of the best the industry has to offer. 
Management is my experience was fantastic. No micromanagement.
Lots of travel and work sometimes seems endless but some of the projects you get to work on as quite fulfilling. Especially when you get to see them in everyday life. 

I worked for the Milton, VT plant for almost a year.  I absolutely loved what I was doing, plenty of OT, busy and fast paced. The big problem was the management. I had 3 different supervisors, each had very different expectations. The communication within the company is the poorest I've ever seen. I don't recommend working for this company.

Very good company with a lot opportunity. I was working for 12 years and I was very happy.Every day is something different and you can learn a lot about machining job. Very nice people and very respect supervisor.There is so many different machining job from the roughing parts to finish,benefits and paid isn't so bad just like other companies when you start working for,overall is good

The work day is 4 ten hour days, you get Friday off.
My only complaint was that as a temp I got paid very little and the full time employees were paid much greater income. After 8 months of working there, we were told they had no intention of hiring temporary employees full time. My job in Honing pays 24.00 an hour to start. I got paid $11 as a temp.This was 5 years ago and perhaps it has changed.
