I wanted so badly for this position to be my final stop, the company I retired from. I loved what they believed in and their core values. I felt fortunate they chose me to work there. However, that's just what they SAY, not what actually happens. You fall into the cracks here and no one will lend a hand to help you up. I got in with a first time manager and there were no checks and balances here to see how she was managing. I struggled vastly with the management style and the way I was treated. I was told by my manager not to buy a house (when she heard me talking about it with a coworker) because she might or might not fire me in 0-6 months...I mean, who does that?!?! I had to make a written request on what she wanted me to change specifically because there is no guidance or leadership. On the fourth month, we met and I listed all the ways I had improved and she just said, "I disagree."
I gave my two weeks notice. No one asked me for an exit interview, no one reached out at all.  The turnover there is insane from the top, down.
The medical and 401k benefits are amazing and the pay was more than fair. I mean, they have to offer a lot of good to treat you that way, I guess...

Awful work conditions. constant exposure to chemicals, little to no regard for safety from management. understaffed so constant 12 hour shifts.  Barely reactive in their safety, absolutely not proactive at all. Their PPE requirements are laughable as well, out in the field working all day with chemicals? Just wear some long pants and some long shirts. Working in a room where chemical particles are spewed everywhere multiple times in a shift? Oh well you don't need a respirator (and if you said you wanted one the one they'd give you is just a mask). Also at times it's not even possible to actually wear the PPE. Middle of the summer with 100 degree weather and they need someone to cut open bags of product and pour it into a huge dumpster? their safety regulation is to wear a suit that is like a tarp. 5 to 10 minutes in that thing and you are DONE.  Just about anywhere else would have safer working conditions for an operator.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
High expectations for delivery on goals, working within contract of labor union can be stressful to get some tasks completed.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Culture is very positive in how employees are treated. Expectation to go above and beyond to accomplish plant goals. Recognition of high performing employees is frequent.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Task and goal oriented for salary employees including priority of keeping plant operational while adhering to stringent safety policies. Hourly employees perform assigned work per job description and don't go outside these limits - typical day is mostly relaxed for hourly employees.

I was fired due untrained personnel that they fire for having a firearm on property. Because the guards do not do a inspection on any trucks enting or exiting the property. They expect you to work by yourself in the crud tall oil department unloading tank trucks and rail cars. Instead of moving a person to a different department they will let u continue to fail if u wasn't trained right an fire you the online classes take way to long the 3rd party hiring agency takes way to long to get back with you. then it takes up to a year to get you switch over from 3rd party for actually ingevity employe. I don't recommend anyone to work there. A lot of outdated, broken, halfway fixed, deathtraps. They pick where they want you to go even though you put ur application in for something different.

Just started not too long ago and have received little to no direction from the management here. It’s a very fend for yourself type of environment. Maybe they’ve never trained anyone before, but seems to have no desire to help better understand my role and growth (that they talk so much about) or train me on my every day assignments. Manager seems like they just can’t be bothered and the executive team seems to care even less. Can’t answer any questions I bring in front of them and tells me to contact HR. Seems like they just don’t care about their employees. A lot of talk and little commitment to your success 

When I got hired on at Ingevity, I knew this was the career for me. I started out on the bottom like most people do, and got to make my way up to level 2 which takes about a year to do and I done it in about 7 months. The thing I like most about my job is driving a forklift, meeting new customers, and talking to my co-workers every shift. We have 4 shifts and I've worked on all of them and they are all great shifts. Management lacks more than it should but we still get the job done with what we have. Ingevity has taught me many things like trouble shooting, making decisions, working hard, and most importantly it taught me how to grow up and be a man.

They pay you very well but you have to put up with the new culture of the company. No matter the situation you are treated as guilty until proven innocent and they’re quick to jump to discipline. HR has no remorse for people’s lives outside of the plant and treat you as if you’re below them. You work 12 hour rotating shifts and have to put up with management looking over your shoulder and trying to catch you mess up to make an example of you. My first 3 years there were great but it’s quickly going down hill and I pity anyone having to put up with unfair treatment and the stress the job put on you.

Typically an employee manages daily production and handles any arising issues with equipment or products.  It is very fast paced and the plant is running 24/7 with major plant outages at least twice a year.  The workplace is very demanding as they are attempting to increase production.  The people that work there are high quality and will help any way they can, but it is a very challenging work environment with very high expectations.  Overambitious at times, but willing to invest money back into the company.

Instead of having luxurious offices for the show, they should focus on simplifying their highly complex processes and retaining good employees.
Management is unreliable, they kick out employees without minimum empathy or consideration, that after working them to the bone. Working on weekends, holidays and vacations is expected as they do not/will not have enough hands.
Awful experience, the worst of my  30+ year career.
