Open Center at 4:15am, Check Water system for Chlorine, turn on all machines and Check them for Bleach. Set up machines and test them prior to patients arrival. After all dialysis machines passed the test, get patients weighed, take their vital signs and listen to their lung sound and heart beat, count their respiration rate, listen to their access to see if it is patent. Clean the access and start cannulating it  with fistula needles and flush them with Heparin, to keep the blood from clotting. Set the dialysis machine to remove the fluid gain between treatments then initiate treatment. After all the patients are on the dialysis machines I draw up their medication and administer it through the bloodlines attached to their access. The patient are monitored and their vital signs recorded every 30 min. from the pre evaluation to the post vital signs, everything is documented in the I pad. After  all medication is given, take a quick 10-15 min. break to eat and drink a cup of coffee. As soon as you get back on the treatment floor it is time to rinse back the first patient and get the machines ready for the next shift and everything starts allover again. The hardest part of this job is getting supplies and keeping up with water checks q 4 hours and have all meds given before the patients are done with their treatments. There are 16 patients on the machine at the same time. My co-workers want me to be there for all of their requests and none will look out for my assigned patients. Management never has a kind word for me only trying to find something wrong with whatever I do. The most enjoyable part of my job is the patients. They come in short of breath and feeling bad and when I get  done with them, they feel good and have a smile on their faces, that makes my day and it puts a smile on my face. After the patients are gone the machines have to be cleaned and disinfected and set up for the next treatment day. Water system turned off. Medicine counted and looked up, then set the alarm system and lock all doors. Now I have to drive home to Augusta, GA, it takes about an hour.

I worked for this company in the corporate office for 2 years- and the only thing good was the pay (slightly above market) and the benefits. Otherwise it is a terrible place to work. Managers are extremely inappropriate, between gossiping about the people on their teams; and the politics that are involved in trying to get a promotion. It is based solely on friendships rather than whether or not someone is qualified to lead other individuals. Work is piled on, with no end in sight but lots of promises in order to keep people working.
 There is definitely NOT job security here, as I had seen many good, hardworking billers/coordinators get canned for practically nothing. HR does not back up any complaints and instead seems to bury anything negative that is said about the company or managers. In their mind employees are expendable, and they let you know not so subtly that you are expendable. 
It is a place to learn insurance/billing from the ground up, as the way they train forces you to learn a lot, and very quickly--SO if you are planning to use this company as a stepping stone, and you KNOW that it is temporary; then go ahead, make some decent money, learn some skills and leave before the poison sets in. If you are looking for an enjoyable long term company with good atmosphere---this is not the job for you.

IRC started off as  an awesome place to work; based primarily on the leadership I was initially under.  However, after restructuring, etc., a different leader appeared to have a different skill set and/or knowledge of how to be a leader. This leader based their interaction/perceptions on emotion and or inner relations, instead of fair, impartial leadership. This leader, with minimum experience with diversity, appeared to base their leadership on limited experience; which resulted in treating individual differently, who is in protected  classes.  Additionally, and unfortunately, due to the length of time this employee has worked there, they have established relationships/friendships with other leaders; therefore, causing others to adopt this employee's "perception."   It is better to "dumb yourself down" in order to get along; as any appearance of competency will result in such backfiring (dependent on your race), and cause colleagues to form opinions based on their lack of experience.  And even when you voice your sincere concern to higher leaders, again, based on relationships, the higher leaders says, "I've worked with and known this employee for  a long time and have never seen this before.....", which means, you as the employee are the problem, not the leader.

I was hired PRN/ Freelance by the Regional VP, from a referral from a colleague of mine the RVP had worked with as a Travel Nurse. I felt confident that this was the best of both worlds, flexibility of PRN, security of permanent  job with the pay equivalent of a travel RN. 

The first assignment in Mechanicsville VA was great. The CM was Professional, kind and dedicated. Then there were other clinics, in particular Forrest Park that was a mess. Salisbury, MD clinic had no CM, no Renal Dietician and no Social Worker there. It was only a 12 chair clinic and they could not retain staff, finally, back in Richmond at South Laburnam Clinic, a corrupt and unprofessional CM sabatoged all positive things the clinic had to offer. Favoritism was rampant to the point the patients were also included in this CM’s “posse”. Everyone saw it. I got there was instrumental in running off two of the best PCHTs I’ve ever had the privilege to work with. This was a 20 chair clinic where the CM single handed Lt drove away 40% of our patients and took us from a 6 day clinic with 93 pt’s down to a TTS only my clinic with a total of 47  and committed to

For a recent college grad, it wasn’t a fun company to work for. I mostly enjoyed the work I was doing but my job was constantly being changed. I was hired as a travel coordinator, but when I arrived for my first day was given a role on the Accounts team.  I worked there for 9 months and was asked to switch roles and teams 3 different times. Being switched around so often made it hard to make connections with team members and feel a sense of belonging. It was also hard to learn and grow within any of my roles since I didn’t have any of my positions for very long. I also worked at six different offices / desks during my short time there - it felt like every few weeks something was being changed about either my position or my workspace location or team. That made it hard to feel comfortable. 
None of my team mates who had been there for a long time had positive things to say about their experiences there and it seemed every person I met was looking for a new job. I liked the day to day work, but between the constant shuffling around and the lack of warmth from management, I couldn’t last a full year. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Best part of this company id working with the patients. Because the patients were serving our ESRD it really gives the opportunity to develop strong meaningful relationships with patient.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
There is literally no support. Management expects a social worker to make miracles happen and all the reusability of insurances, attendance all psychosocial problems , resources, finances, transplant, family dynamics and things far outside of our scope while having a heavy  admin role too. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Work is quiet/ cold. Over the years the mood shifts depending on who they hire but no one stays long.

If I hadn't had problems dropping off my daughter at school in the morning, I would still be there, at American Renal. The manager is a wonderful person to work with, very thorough and understanding. She would go above and beyond to make her staff feel valued and cared for. 
However, my daughter attends a magnet school outside the recommended school district. For reasons unknown to me, my daughter's school bus route was canceled, leaving me between a rock and hard place (my daughter's school drop-off issue and my work start time requirement). 
My daughter refused to go to her home school (walking distance from home) so I had to sacrifice my job. 
Management was extremely supportive of my decision and it was a hard decision to make I must say. 
The treatment I received from management outweighed the difference in pay. I strongly believe in making less with no headaches, over making a lot with stress, and conflictive leadership. 
I would recommend this workplace to anyone looking for work/ life flexibility. Management is a blessing. 

Good money, horrible work life balance, either you are up at 330 am to go to work for 430 or your stay until 930 pm. Techs run the place even though they are working UNDER YOUR RN LICENSE. 
Management plays favorites to whoever picks up the most OT/ extra shifts and NOT to the hardest, most dedicated workers.
Pros- Good collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of RN, CCHTS, Dieticians, Social Workers and MD.  You really get to know and care for your patients since you spend 4:30 hours/3 days a week with them. You get to know them really well and that helps immensely when there is any sudden change in condition. You know your patients in and out so are able to provide excellent patient centered care. 
Pay is good, benefits are just ok although the accrued PTO time is better than most, but good luck being able to use it since they can’t even staff the unit on any given normal day. 
Sad part is it could be a really great place to work, but management, horrible hours and poor work/life balance just don’t make it worth it

I started when this company was ARA and it was OK. Once IRC bought it out it got so much worse. Workload became unmanageable, staff cutbacks, hours cut, increased amount of work and less time to do it. Not patient focused at all. IRC literally only cares about money. Got a 2% raise this year which was less than a dollar. Holidays are not time and a half, I worked every single holiday last year (I’m a single mom), zero chance of OT, health insurance is horrible and very costly, half my PTO wasn’t approved because they are short staffed. The other FT nurse quit, instead of hiring another FT nurse they just pay per diems who don’t know how to do the excessive, insane amounts of unnecessary paperwork and documentation and they leave early.  AA and clinic manager go between two clinics. No support. This job didn’t have to be exhausting or physically demanding it was safely staffed but it’s not. I would never tell anyone to work for IRC. No pay increases for higher level of education or certifications.
