GET OUT!! This used to be a warm and inviting place to work until Allegro came aboard. The first week they said "we're not gonna make any changes". Next week everything changed staffing hrs decreased, work load increased, positions taken away etc. They fail to communicate anything with staff or residents but this is what they preach to us "communicate". 

Do not look forward to shift differential, bonuses, weekend diff, no employee appreciation of any kind.
All they care about is their budget so they cut staff which cuts resident care. Staffing is a nightmare be prepared to do the work of three people while getting only your pay. Dont request a day off chances are you wont get it because there is no staff to cover. They wont even let their employees have left over food when dinner service is completed the prefer to trash lbs of food then feed hard workers.

Most of the staff just up and quit. The morale went straight to rock bottom and they dont care. Staff were unhappy 
but management doesnt look to how they can keep employees they just let them leave. They criticized us for what we didnt do instead of praising us for the good we did do.

They do NOT communicate, they do NOT care, their only objective is MONEY.

This would be a wonderful job if it weren't for the Executive Director and Business Office Manager.  They have made the opportunity to work with the senior community a nightmare. They fail to support staff in a meaningful way.  They have a HUGE staffing problem because of them. They don't take responsibility for their mistakes and find a way to blame employees. 
In the short time I worked there, they lost 3 receptionists, 2 maintenance directors,2 Lifestyle Directors, 1 Director of Nursing, 1 Dining Director, 4 cooks, two were assistant cooks, and too many servers/waitstaff to count. 
I loved the residents, they made being with them a joyful, rewarding experience.  Some very nice co-workers in other departments, also made work somewhat bearable. Unfortunately, there are a few who love to bring drama to the workplace. 
Too bad Corporate doesn't seem to care about this revolving door situation. 

Working in a facility like this one as a CNA, MA, MT or Dining Service Associate is for an individual seeking to grow their experience, pay bills, and/or have the flexibility to attend school or work other jobs as well. This company is not one where you'd like to spend the majority of your full-time career, simply because Allegro values profits more than they do residents or staff. Complaints to management are rarely taken seriously and management is so non confrontational, some employees are left and sometimes even expected to manage by proxy, which causes tension among staff. This is a company where who you know will bring you greater success and job security than what you know. (ample "buddy hires")

The best part of working for the company are your day to day interactions with the residents and the occasional holiday gathering. Outside of that, you can expect to deal with frequently understaffed shifts and greater responsibility, absent of greater compensation.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Coming from public bartending/serving, I decided to give private a try. Definite pros: 1) the residents. Truly wonderful people, and do really appreciate you, every day. 2) management. Very supportive, and do show appreciation (when you do your job). And that is from FOH and BOH. 3) so many people in so many departments, and the teamwork spirit between them all. 4) the general feeling after work that you've made people smile, and truly brightened their day. 

I used to make more money, but...this is consistent, and the benefits are really quite great. (You don't get PTO in a restaurant, for example). 

Overall...it's different. But it is it's own little community, and a great one at that.



What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I'm being honest in saying there isn't much if you do what you're supposed to do, show up on time, and take pride in your work and relationships with residents.

At first glance, you might think they have a small staff; however, they have simply hired qualified individuals to run their own departments. This creates a very close-knit team that really rallies behind each other and works well together!

You never have to worry about things getting lost in translation. It is so easy to openly communicate with colleagues; especially the manager.

I was very eager to learn about the position I was in but had very little experience. The manager is such a good coach and so patient. She's very encouraging and open to new ideas. You can tell she believes in her team and wants to see everyone succeed. 

If you are a team player and enjoy knowing your coworkers on a personal level, this is the perfect place for you!  

I was at this company for many years and I have seen alot and what I mean about that is alot of turn over with management and the team they have now is not to be desired because all they do is get involved in all the drama by talking about their staff and how they work, I can't really say I learned alot from this company because there was never no more advancement and if given a chance that didn't happen because they would pass over people that had been there along time so senority means nothing to this place. The culture was ok we all worked together in certain aspects of the job. And to me there was nothing hard about job just constantly working short. I certainly can say I LOVED my residents. I would never recommend anyone going to work there unless you want to be judged.And just have eyes open for people that will try you.

I have learned a lot working at allegro. Allegro is a retirement home a different setting from what I'm use to. A lot of my patients are all in there right mind and just want someone to be a friend and someone to talk to. I have learned to just listen. Listen when a patient is going through something without you putting your input lets people know that you care about what they have to say. Rather its about family, the bad food the facility is serving or even if they are upset about something that happened earlier just being ears will make your patients feel cared for and as my duty as a CNA I want to do whatever it is I can do in my power to be there for them in the way the patient would allow me to be.

I took this job to learn and grow in administration and before new management took over after covid hit that was the case. Since new management this place has gone so far down hill. It's just not a classy place to work anymore and they don't pay enough compared to other companies with the same position. When I started here they told me they promote from within but when the full time position opened in the department I'm in they brought someone new in instead of promoting me. Management is not organized, doesn't bother getting back to people and typical things that are part of job description for the bosses are not getting done. 

Almost immediately after being hired I realized that my job description did not match what my daily tasks actually were.   My manager seemed to be completely unaware of the fact that they had a new employee starting and was preoccupied by numerous other issues.  This manager didn't seem to want much help when it was offered, but would get frustrated when things became a mess.    

This location is completely short staffed and for some reason corporate is not bringing people in to help temporarily.  Overall I was not impressed by the company at all.  I didn't take very long to realize this was not a place I wanted to stay at.  

A typical workday begins with a mountain of work. Most of the employees (not all) do not do their jobs. They do not prepare for the next shift, and they leave a mountain of work for the incoming shift. Management gives the facade that they are caring and understanding, but they are far from it. They will make promises to get you in the door, but when you need management to follow through on said promises, all of a sudden, they do not remember the conversation. Note: if you do decide to work here, get everything in writing!!!!! I have learned what bad leadership and what a toxic environment look like. The residents are the only enjoyable part of the job!
