Working for inspiritec from home for standard business hours is great for people who need a flexible schedule. But make sure you know what contract you sign up for when you take the position. The temporary position I was originally hired for was very rewarding, as it was more based on emails, and checking credentials. However, when I was promoted to a full time position as part of the DMDC contract. I really felt like my training was rushed, and that I was put on the phones before I was ready. It's not entirely the company's fault, as the government dictates how they train new employees. The first half of training was fine, but once we were introduced to the systems it all stopped making sense for me. We weren't really permitted much hands on experience with the systems, and had to make the best of powerpoint presentations. Made worse by the fact new systems were introduced before I was about to take my first live call. Which made me even more scared and confused than I already was. 

Due to my anxiety, and the pressure of the position I had tried to transfer contracts, but due to company policy I wasn't allowed to transfer to a different position I felt more comfortable being in. Which is why I ultimately had to leave the position for my mental health. Now there are wonderful people who work at this company. The people in Case Management, and the people running the PUA contract I was on prior to working for the DMDC contract were wonderful people. I would work for this company again if another position that suited my skills and abilities were available. Particularly an email position like with the PUA contract. However, I would be hesitant to take a contract similar to the DMDC contract again with this company.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Helpful coworkers and direct managers were always available to help. Accommodations for those with disabilities was readily available, including access to a case manager. Lengthy onboarding that was essential to my success (3 weeks). Frequent performance reviews. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
This was a call center post, therefore all of the usual stress of assisting callers while remaining calm and affable applied. However, onboarding, weekly meetings, and frequent assessments addressed how to diffuse callers’ frustration and occasional anger. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very accommodating and accepting culture, while maintaining high standards and expectations. The performance standards were both reasonable and achievable. The culture was very friendly and respectful within my team, supported by the team leader (who was our direct manager). 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I signed on to multiple systems for call routing, callers’ accounts, and web resources prior to the start of my work day. When my day began I changed my call routing status to “available.” A call would immediately begin. After helping a caller, I made detailed notes about the call, including direct quotes, for approximately five minutes. Then I set my status to available again.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Talking with customers and the paycheck of course. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
There’s a lot of complaining, discrimination/favoritism, miscommunication, gossip, drama and bad energy. I personally do not consider this a good work place for people with disabilities as supposed. Especially for black people and it is very sad to say. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It’s not always bad. It can be good days,  but majority of my day is spent listening to co-workers make negative remarks and comments about other co-workers. Even managers are involved in the gossip and it can be very overwhelming working in that type of environment. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I try my best to perform well so I don’t give anyone a reason to talk behind my back or complain about my work. It feels like everyone expects you to be perfect. Minimum criticism is given to fix your mistakes and you will be held accountable even if you weren’t advised to fix it. There’s a lot of judgment and I don’t perform well under pressure so I do my job and clock out as supposed.

Depending on the department/branch you are with, a typical day consists of answering telephone calls, emails and self-service entries regarding  multiple issues with personnel, human resources, benefits and low level IT help. The work can be mentally exhausting at times and employees should expect to have occasional irate callers to deal with. 
The environment is very inclusive as they are an Ability One employer that recruits individuals with disabilities. While this can help with being able to earn a living as a disabled person, the attitude towards some employees from peers as well as some mid and upper level management leaves a lot to be desired. 
Favoritism is a big problem as well as cliques among leadership, ethnic groups, and social status. Management often goes to those who are willing to sacrifice their ethics for the company or prior service members & retirees who can barely tie their own shoes, let alone lead a department.
Benefits are minimal and expensive as well as limited in scope. Retirement is minimal. 


The management here lacks a certain level of knowledge on anything not Military.  Management has trouble dealing with people who push back or question anything.  Not open to questions at all.  Do as your told because I said so mentality.  Whos your buddy is also a problem here. 

The HR person had no knowledge of her job, she actually thinks we are there for her and not the other way around,  Don't expect any help about benefits from HR.  Very stressful environment, your tracked to the second by the phone system to almost feeling choked by it. 

The disability advocate acts like he's your friend but he is really part of the management team and your information is shared with folks who should not have it. 

The security manager was very nice, took care of all things security clearance related.  The Management lacks written guidance on personnel related items so you really don't know where you stand on most issues. 

IT support was the best to date, very responsive! 

Would not ever work in such a place again.

Good for transitioning from the military back to the civilian workforce. No real qualifications or experience needed. Poor management, if you don't know someone promotion is unlikely. Lots of unknowledgeable people in authoritative roles. Poor guidance for new employees. Not a job you will look forward to showing up for. Training program is terrible and you won't learn much before you're on our own. Double standards between the management and employees. If you aren't in good with the right people your potential for promotion is unlikely. Negative environment. High turnover rate and not a very happy, positive, productive workforce which I believe is a direct result of the poor management. Not a lot of positive reinforcement or mentoring from the management. Overall, not something I would recommend as a permanent stop along the way to transitioning into the civilian workforce.

    Inspiritec has offered remote work which is incredibly convenient. The communication and weekly check-ins are reassuring and reinforce that this company cares for its employees. The benefits are suprisingly good, compared to other comparable jobs. 
     A typical day consists of steady computer workbut with two 15 minute breaks and an hour for lunch, for my type of work. This is great, because I can take my dog for walks! And he can curl up near me as my work assistant all day! Another plus is that I can have my favorite music on to motivate me and keep me focused! All day!
    The only thing that is a challenge for me is not having all the answers. We get updates and have weekly meetins online, but since we are subcontractors to the company we are helping, we don't always have all the info from them, and I like to be fully informed. Our Team Leaders are aware and do everything they can to get us the answers. That is great support!


It's an okay place to work. The pay is decent for what you do and the 401k plan is great. Healthcare benefits are mediocre at best. The real issue is management. We can be told one thing and then a week later it could be wrong. Recently they've started micromanaging those who work from home. Put yourself in the wrong status by mistake for too long, you get a phone call. A couple minutes too long in the bathroom, phone call. The QA scores can be confusing as well. You could do the same thing you've always done and get great scores and then a month or so later, your score will drop and they start nitpicking at little, inconsequential things. Also, we only get half-hour lunches now instead of the hour long lunches we used to get. Also, the amount of sick time they give is far too little for a whole year, especially for a company that prides itself in hiring for people with disabilities. Overall, the job itself isn't bad and the pay is decent, but it does get quite stressful.

I was on a 6 month contract with Inspiritec that received an extension. No timeframe on how long the extension would be, so it was really nice to finish a shift and receive a call that my last day of work was tomorrow. The call the terminate my position came from “higher up” and they are giving us two weeks severance.. one paycheck? They said they would help me apply for other jobs, which I don’t need, I need help paying rent now that I don’t have a job. The job itself wasn’t hard and helping customers made my day! Everything changed every day and you were being told three different ways to proceed from one manager; they all seemed a little scatter brained, but nice. It’s sad they expect everything from you to be PERFECT but I can’t even expect to have a job when I wake up? Disappointing. They said to reapply to another Inspiritec job, but when I try to, all the jobs have expired. Just a lot of time and energy of mine spent on such bull. 

Started nice, when we had a great manager and everything was written down and streamlined. Breaks were good. Disabilities accommodations were respected. Then, that manager left - all the other managers had different ways they wanted things done and weren't following the book or rewriting it. Super confusing. Then the new managers started getting super stingy with our breaks (many of which are disability accommodations). If you asked for any mental health time, they wouldn't give it to you but have these platitudes sent to your email that said things like "do yoga" and "take a cold shower" ??? it was just so tone deaf, especially for a disability focused company. The poor management also led to a deterioration in the customer service. It went from "help the customer" to "hang up on the customer" which lead to our call volume spiking with all the angry customers who were being told all different things, and being hung up on before their case could be resolved. It started out great but went downhill so fast after a change in managment.
