From the moment I joined the team back in September 022, I felt welcomed and valued. Here are some highlights of my positive working experience:

Working remotely for Supermarket Insurance felt more like being monitored than trusted. The company has figured out how to use AI to keep you chained to your desk—one step above wearing an ankle monitor. If you’re even one second late, a bot pops up to reprimand you, and accumulating too many of these instances can get you fired.

The environment is suffocating. Employees are forced to read from a fear-based sales script, with no room for creativity or genuine connection. Every single phone call is monitored and scrutinized, making it clear that the focus is on control, not empowerment. And if you’re sick for more than two days, they expect a doctor’s note, as if being sick isn’t enough of a hassle without having to justify it.

To be fair, the direct managers are great and do the best they can under these conditions. Unfortunately, this micromanagement style stems from the top, and as is often the case, that means nothing will change.

And here’s the kicker: they call themselves “the supermarket,” but they only sell two products—and their competitors offer the same options for less.

Management, here’s some advice: Imagine how much more your company could achieve if you removed the chains and trusted your employees to be creative and think outside the box. Not only would this improve results, but it might also reduce your constant turnover.

Until then, this isn’t a workplace—it’s a micromanaged machine disguised as a remote job.

Training is phenomenal, very thorough. A lot of information to take in in a short amount of time and it is expected you apply what you’ve learned. Coming from a 1099 position i went months without a paycheck due to chargebacks and not sitting in front of clients because there were no shows for appointments. At the Insurance Supermarket you are transferred live calls. Nothing is guaranteed but if you have a good sales acumen and take the training you are given and apply it this is for you. Metrics can be tracked easily, and it can be stressful but that is any sales job. If you have a strong winner mindset definitely for you. 8 hours shifts with overtime paid, plus bonuses if metrics are hit. Many options to insure individuals. I love it. But you have to want to be successful, if you want an easy ride, this is not for you. You have to have a winners mentality. If an insurance agent wants steady income with high bonus potential, definitely for you. No you do not keep your book of business but you all don’t pay for leads and there are no chargebacks. So from in insurance stand point you have to think about what your goals are. Personally this works for me and I know most people would rather have steady income than pay for everything out of pocket and be guaranteed nothing. 

The company is rapidly expanding into the US and I'd be lying if I said there weren't some growing pains but overall it's a pretty decent company to work for, doubly so considering the insurance industry. Trust me I've seen how bad it can be and ISI is above and beyond better than them. ISI is also really big about promoting from within although the growth the company has experienced in such a short time meant that a handful of managers have been hired from outside the company. Thankfully though, those managers had an absolute wealth of experience in sales and are doing really well. I will say it's difficult to network but that's just because when you're not making sales you're in meetings and workshops sharpening your sales skills. And that's another thing about this place is you never stop learning and getting better at what you do. In all honesty most jobs I've had bored me, they never offered enough of a challenge every day that this job does. Every day is like that with ISI. It's genuinely one of my favorite careers out of the many I've had in my life. 

Working he started out with a very positive outset and where it seemed you could feel more comfortable selling to people because you would have many options of carriers to find the right fit for your customers.  But no you only have 1 carrier even though you are telling the customer you are finding their best option.  

You are over-coached and totally micromanaged on every single minute including taking time to do work you need to do to complete a sale (i.e. emails, call backs etc.) You are NEVER allowed to talk about anything that bothers you about what is not working and rarely can suggest options for smoother ways of selling.  And by gosh don't friend someone at work because they will be monitoring all of your chats & emails to people along with requesting you keep your camera on so they can surveille you all day!  

Last don't have any ailments where you need to have a flexible schedule or need to do doctors appointments because even with doctor's notes they may still let you go!

A typical day at ISI is a morning meeting for 15 minutes and then hop on the phones to take calls, 10 minute break, phones until lunch, Lunch, Phones until you want to take you second 10 minute break, then on the phones until the end of shift.
This job has helped me be more comfortable relating and talking to people all across the US and given me more problem solving skills.

The management here is awesome, they really want you to succeed and it feels like a family environment.

The workplace culture is a little different with working from home but the team zooms make up for it and everyone is just one slack away from helping each other or having a friendly conversation. Job security puts the pressure on you to perform but performing makes you feel great. They also have a lot of tools to help you succeed.

The hardest part about the job is being on the phone all day and hitting goals, it can get exhausting but it feels great when you help a family get protected and gives you a boost of energy.

The most enjoyable part of this job is the comradery within your team and being from home and helping families get protected!

  

First, I will reiterate many who have left previous reviews, in that the training is actually quite good. It's once you reach "the floor" that things come back to a harsh reality. 

They literally either cut your breaks short and reserve the right to deny breaks during their "power hour" each day at 5 pm EST. They watch every second of breaks and lunches, and after call work. Sales quotas aren't necessarily high pressure, but the zillion Slack channels you must follow, while trying to talk to prospects, inundates you with sophomoric GIF's and memes all day long. 

The leads are not that good, as most are cajoled and dragged into these calls you receive, and are usually not happy, yet they expect sales. I had a construction worker, on site, in the rain, as an example as a lead. 

It's all about flashing the possible money you can earn and nothing else...nothing. Work-life balance is a joke, as they want a pressure cooker, all hands on deck, rah-rah type of atmosphere. More, more, harder, faster gets old quick. 

If you are the adrenaline junkie type, this may be a great fit, but those who don't want the umbilical cord tied extra hard, look elsewhere. 

This is a high pressure sales job. The transfer guide (screener)  gives a long drawn out introduction so that the transfer will last at least 90 sec. As long as the call last at least  90 sec the transfer guide is compensated. Sometimes transfer guides would even hold the line on their end knowing the client hung up to insure that call lasted 90 sec. As an agent if a call lasted over 90 seconds and you didn’t convert it into a sale it affected your conversion. 

Majority of the time when a client was transferred over,  clients had no idea the phone call was about life insurance. Clients were expecting the free benefits advertised online and most of them didn’t have money to buy life insurance.

As an Agent here there is a lot of constructive coaching and it dwells on the negative a lot.  If you had a good day yesterday and no sale today, yesterday would be forgotten about.  Also, it’s hard to know where you stand here. Your metrics could be better than others but others still get promoted over you . 

Also, you are told that you’ll get major holidays off but as time goes on that will be to their descresion. 

Completely disorganized.  What was taught in training was not the same in "nesting", and different from actual teams. Morning meetings are obnoxious and tiresome.  Nothing in the meetings are motivating. The leads are not fairly distributed between agents and teams.  During interview I was told leads are generated internally,  however this is not the case. Leads come from outside vendors and are transferred whether caller wants to be or not. Majority are looking for free phone and rental assistance.  Metric standards are completely unrealistic.  Only 3 of the current sales managers were actually promoted internally. It is completely obvious that the other managers do not know what they are talking about, one example being using prohibited wording when describing life insurance quotes. The 30 minute lunch break is ridiculous. There is absolutely no transparency, some teams are provided information about new carriers that are being added others are not.  I was excited to start employment with this company,  now I am definitely looking to leave it as soon as possible. 

The sales metrics at Insurance Supermarket are frustrating and poorly managed. Expectations are constantly shifting, making it nearly impossible to track performance accurately or feel confident about hitting targets. There seems to be more focus on volume than on quality or customer satisfaction, which creates unnecessary pressure and encourages rushed, less thoughtful interactions. Communication around goals is inconsistent, and feedback is often vague or delayed, leaving little opportunity for improvement. Additionally, the benchmarks don’t always reflect real-world conditions, making them feel unrealistic and disconnected from actual sales environments. Instead of motivating the team, these metrics tend to create stress and confusion. A more transparent, balanced, and achievable system would go a long way in improving both employee morale and overall performance. Right now, it feels like the numbers matter more than the people behind them, which ultimately hurts long-term success.
