What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part of working at Integris is the absence of management support. Management does not take caregivers seriously when major changes are necessary. No one in management will take responsibility or initiative to institute the changes that are necessary for caregivers to provide the best care, which makes providing high-quality care far more difficult. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment and culture are adequate at best. Caregivers are not celebrated for their successes. Instead, management takes credit for patient successes as a way of showing Integris to be superior to competing healthcare systems in the state. Integris is NOT superior, just different.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Struggle to find a parking space while management is assigned convenient and easily accessible spots in gated lots or garages. If parking doesn't make you late, you might have time to get food in the mediocre cafeteria that is supplied by the same company that supplies Oklahoma prisons. Arrive at your post, clock in on an antiquated phone system, take report, and immediately have your work questioned and critiqued by overly critical managers who are trying to make a name for themselves rather than provide the best care to patients. These managers almost never see patients themselves. Check your email to discover upper management taking the credit for patient successes and YOUR work, while you receive low balance notifications from your bank because you are struggling to get by on criminally low pay. Complain to management about the pay and get told that a nameless and blameless committee has decided your work is competitive with other mediocre healthcare systems. Give report to the oncoming shift, have your work questioned again, go home to wash off the grime and disrespect you received during the day, try to sleep, fail to do so, and wake up to the dread of knowing you have another miserable day ahead of you at Integris, which was once the best  inemployer the state.

I worked at Access Center as Access Coordinator.  My job was basically to create surgery and other accounts/encounters for the metro OKC facilities.  It was a good place to work, in general (good people, good compensation, good benefits) however I feel that support personnel such as myself are very under appreciated and overworked.   Over the span of my employment, workload was added to our team incrementally (a bit here/bit more there).  Over time, and in combination with turnover/inexperience/system issues/etc. this became increasingly significant.  My first supervisor had a thorough understanding of my job duties, but she moved to another position.  Subsequent supervisors were unable to provide support and we were left on our own.  In their defense, they, too, were learning new functions and taking on added responsibilities, with the move to centralized scheduling.  Expected productivity results did not factor in problem situations that yielded support for our internal clients but no "widgets" (numbers).  In the end, it appeared that the expectations were unattainable, despite our best efforts.  Because my job function is sorely needed (after EPIC, it will be largely obsolete), as well as specialized, I did not have the opportunity to learn other functions and prepare for future jobs within Integris. I found this very disappointing.   Another drawback that I perceived was a lack of training and accountability in job functions among "upstream" personnel, sometimes resulting in errors that we were responsible for catching.  Understandably, this was part of our job, but humans are fallible. We were expected to be 100% accurate and work faster, albeit not necessarily smarter.  Fixing problems slowed us down, and made our productivity appear to suffer.  I have great respect for many of the people I worked with, both in the trenches and in management.  I wish them all the best.  All things considered, I could have stayed and continued to make a contribution, had I felt more valued.

I was hired to start a new position so, I knew that it would be challenging. I had no resources. Every request I made was blocked. The work environment was dangerous and when I complained it fell on deaf ears. Also, when I would make a complaint toward a department for not assisting me they would just call my supervisor and it would stop there. Also, I asked my supervisor for direction a few times and she never answered me back then, she would act really stressed when I did not get back with her immediately, when she needed to address a issue she had.  I did not get my complaint addressed. I felt my supervisor had way too much power. The IT company at this hospital was the worse I have every encountered but it is probably because they are overwhelmed. I went without a phone for a week and they continually, messed up requests and then were rude about it. I also caught IT staff lying and fabricating things. I actually became afraid to work for this company because of the lies, lack of resources, dangerous work environment and lack of ethics. This company wants to hire new positions and buy new hospitals but they do not have the resources to manage new things or resources. It was made clear that there was not room for me at this clinic and I was not wanted there but I was placed there because another department wanted e there. The department I was in would not help or back me up. I could not do my job, wanted to be laid off because I could not do my job ethically and appropriately. I was basically forced to quit. NO ONE CARED to hear about this. I attempted to call HR so, they would review this position before putting someone else in this clinic. The HR staff just said, put your experience in your exit interview. Glad I quit. Some people may have great experiences working for this company. This was not one of them. Take your time when accepting a job.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The management seems to work hard to accommodate nurses -especially when there’s an emergency or large/complicated circumstances.  At least this is the case on the floor I work on. And they used to discount the in-house food, but I hear that that is going to change to a smaller discount.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Sundays. They are almost always shortstaffed on Sundays.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It’s  about what you’d expect for middle America.  It seems to vary depending on floor and probably Staffing and probably management but overall I’d say they give you all the tools to do your job competitive pay compared to the other healthcare agencies or networks in the greater Oklahoma City area.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
You get the assignment, and then you get to it as quickly as you can doing med passes and assessments before  it gets crazy.  About 70% of the time you’re able to do this without any major interference, and so you can have a successful day; however, every now and then, a rapid response team occurs and that really messes stuff up and you’re playing catch-up for the rest of the day. I wish there was a contingency in place for when this happens.. Then lunch happens, but you never really have coverage for that -a lot of times you can be free enough though to go down and get some food and bring it back and eat it.  Then there’s a med pass again and then yet again around 6 PM -which you better start by 5 PM, but that’s pretty standard I think.  Also, you better not push anything towards the end of your shift especially if it’s blood or any wound change or else you’ll pay for it and not be able to give report on time. My floor tends to work as a team, though, and most will help you, if they can, they’re all pretty nice.

Integris used to be a place I wanted to call home and family.  People work well together at the patient care level and really try to create a good working environment.  However, over the last year, the new "management" has made it clear that our culture is not important.  They want us to be "Intermountain part 2".  This comes on the backs of 171 lay offs this week.  Additionally, others that are not in those numbers were offered to move to another facility or job they had no input in or they could quit, no benefits, no RIF pay, or otherwise.  Now, the next thing we see is their IT department is being outsourced.  And who are they looking at?  The same company they outsourced Intermountain to.  Wonder who has ownership in that company?  The company line is there are no more layoffs coming, everything else that happens is part of the plan that has been in place for the last year.  When a Press Ganey that says my meal was cold is more important than they saved my life, where are we going in healthcare?  That is now the focus of Integris.  Punitive to the employees if they cannot get a patient to give them a 10 on their surveys and say that everyone was amazing.  When a patient that is strung out on drugs and is mad that a physician will not prescribe them more narcotics and the nurses are punished because they didn't meet their needs, what is that saying about our employer? So, lets replace everyone that is not drinking the Koolaid is the atmosphere.

I love Integris maybe because it's all I have ever known. Started right out of school and I have been able to use all of my skills there. The environment of learning is amazing. In every department of the hospital (SWMC) you have a sense of family and team work. We have an extremely high acuity of really sick patients and the different areas of caregivers starting from ER to ICU and then on to the floors all work together to stabilize these patients and return them back to health.

Unfortunately they do this most days with fewer nurses than they should and physicians are working longer hours to help. Respiratory works hard throughout the hospital and also work with higher patients and fewer staff. There is a big demand to increase HCAP scores throughout the medical community but if your hospitals are understaffed how are we to properly care for these types of patients?

Integris values their employees however they are the lowest paid in the state! Physicians, Nurses, Respiratory etc., are all paid much lower than their peers in other hospitals. 

I love the people I work with in every area of the hospital but if you are looking for more pay and less work you may want to look elsewhere. If you are looking to learn skills, time management and teamwork this is the place but know that you will be doing so at a lower pay range.

● Work-life balance
This job has massive negative effects on the other aspects of social life, specifically on family. You will end up with exhausted body as a result of the high stress level that is caused by the brutal staff and some patients.

● Pay & benefits
Poor payment compared to other careers. A housekeeper gets same payment with less stress load.

● Job security and advancement
Poor training. Imaginary training for holding patients which all what they care. But guess what training has no any relation to what happens on floor. In other words their training is a joke.

● Management
Poor management. Huge gaps between managers and staff which causes a lot of chaos in this place. It is enough to know how careless is the management in that place from the Main Street it is all cracks holes and building full of all kinds of pests ( scorpion, spiders, snakes etc..) also one of the main managers is alcoholic and high.

● Culture
A lot of favoritism. Very chaotic staff, unprofessionals. I heard from many staff that the best way to describe the place is “Jail”

● Overall
Just want say this was one horrible place I have ever been to . It was one of my worst nightmare. Stay away what is on their job post is away from the reality. Bad management, bad staff, bad building, poor payment, high stress level, no job security. Majority of workers are from certain ethnicity which tells you amount of favoritism in there.

Most nurses have 6-8 patients on days and over safe practicing standards. Integris has an excellent education dept and provides it's nurses great workshops and continued education opportunities. They also provide great training and education for new grad nurses, internship and extern opportunities.
Overall the hospital and management are extremely stressful to work with or for. High pressure to deliver quality care at high volumes. Staff become exhausted and unable to balance work and home life. Can find supportive management as well as unsupportive management within the hospital in different departments. Highly competitive facility that provides sufficient supplies for staff to do their job.
Worst part of the job is the culture of "stress and fast pace work mode" overall across all departments.
Good opportunities of advancement and education within the hospital, leading to outsides opportunities as well working with Physicians in clinics.

No compassion for employees with health problems.
Overworked.
Forced to push pull or lift heavy patients, and objects because I did not "have a lifting restriction from a physician" even with severe Rotator Cuff injury. Supervisor never around, assumed I knew things (possibly because I was agency tech before hire) I didn't, did not properly orient me to unit. Had to physically work non stop all day.
No credit for contributions to work environment including calling attention to patients in distress when nurses didn't notice or didn't care. Supervisor took advice from know liar. Supervisor discussed private information about employees with other employees. Made assumptions without confronting or asking me.

The job itself is good. Most of the coworkers are cool too. The pay is low for mental health techs. There's alot of hours you can get because the lack of staff, you can pick up as many shifts as you want. If you are hired for pediatric, you will also work on adult. If you're hired for a certain unit, you might end up being on another unit more than your own. There is supposed to be a rotation system in place to determine who gets moved, but they just let their favorite workers stay on their unit and move other people. They don't take concerns seriously. I called and emailed them my concerns about another coworker. It took them almost a month to get back to me. I would've thought that would be taken seriously. The lady who is the house supervisor for the day shift is very rude and talks to you disrespectfully and management doesn't address it. I'd rather not work for a company who doesn't value their employees though. It's very much "If you don't like it, you can leave" culture. They don't deal with problems like they say they will. They've lost alot of staff recently. If they continue to not address the issues at hand they will continue to lose good workers.
