At typical day for me is arriving around 6 am. I usually do 10 hr to 12 hour days. I talk with the patient and the family about any significant changes in the patient since the last time I saw them. I'll do a quick assessment then my pt usually wants to sleep a little longer. I utilize this time to step out of the room (per patient's request) turn on the visual monitor and quietly clean, laundry, pre-prepare their food, check supplies, appointments, meds, etc. The hardest  part of my job is me allowing myself to get too emotionally attached to the patient and family and carrying that with me home. The most enjoyable thing is watching my patient reach their goals and seeing how far they have come/progressed. I have learned that every patient and family dynamics are vastly different. You have to be your patient's advocate but at the same time not get caught up in patient/family drama. Management, well, I can't say enough good things about my Greensboro office. They truly care about me and my needs because they know that if they are there for me I will be be there for my patient. I absolutely love my job!

I enjoy working for this company in the beginning. Their was a lot of cases to choose from and close to home. I worked with several patients and enjoyed the experience of providing professional care to them. I left because management changed. No longer were they giving the field staff the support they did in the beginning and question went days before they got returned, if they got returned. Last couple month I was there I didn’t feel valued as an employee. That’s not what nursing is supposed to be about. There are no incentive, no recognition for going over & beyond, nothing. Also, no pay raise unless you can justify why you deserve it. It’s disheartening when loyalty means nothing & you are easily replaced with a new nurse out of school cause they can pay them less. Management has changed. They are the same people but their overall demeanor is not what it was the day you interview. Promises are made but not followed through. My personal observation Intellichoice is trying to expand too quickly & don’t habe the nursing coverage leaving families frustrated with gaps & holes in schedules. But, Intellichoice is a FOR-Profit company whereas some other nursing agencies are not & it shows in how employees are treated, benefits,  & the drama & politics that occur within.

Wow. What a place. I worked here for a few years and i did not realize until afterwards how they set you up for failure. when i first started working i was a new nurse- i was nervous, and felt as though i needed some guidance on this new career path i was taking. upon arrival, there were no checks offs of any skills and the orientation revolved around briefly running through what trachs/ vents are most of the time is spent talking about how to chart. upon leaving the company, i had issues with the people in the office with communication. there is no sense of communcation at all and ive been to 3 different offices within this company. one office had completely lied about me callling out and had told the family he had just found which made ME look bad. i ended up leaving this company after a few years for better job opportunity in home health. stay away from this company. there are signficantly better paying home health jobs. i got a $6 raise just from leaving this company to another home health company. invest in a job that takes pride in making sure youre able to do the skills that you should be able to do. invest in a job that doesn't just push you out to work because they want money. this job is not it. 

Working for Intellichoice, for me, has been truly rewarding. My shifts are usually 10-12 hours. I came from a medium-large hospital ICU background. In those situations, there were many different disciplines and ancillary staff that were  hands on, real time, face to face support.
Working with Intellichoice, I have experienced working with a level of autonomy that I have not previously. I have endless opportunities for learning, and I always feel that a very solid, consistent, sincere Office/Management team, is just a phone call away, as I work through a given day. This job is outright fun on many occasions. The hardest part? I've been a nurse for thirty years, and a 12 hour shift hasn't gotten any shorter But, I'm not ready to be put out to pasture just yet! I feel appreciated here. I have the highest admiration for my Branch Manager and his staff. In comparison to this area market, for similar nursing positions,  compensation is very fair.


I will work at McDonald's before I go back. They do not offer paid time off, paid sick leave, or differentials. If you want holiday pay, you have to work the day before, the holiday, and the day after. They do not advocate for their employees. When one nurse leaves a home because of bad experiences, they replace them without any warning or intervention. They have scheduled myself, and other nurses for days and times that were not discussed or agreed upon. 

When confronted about the lack of benefits and expensive insurance plans, a dollar raise was offered to "compensate". I have shown up to a home only to be told I wasn't needed that day, and the secretary failed to communicate it the day prior. I witnessed another nurse experience the same thing. 

Instead of intervening and reconsidering the well-being of their nurses, they continue to keep clients and families that are known to have a toxic environment and will not change their ways.

The job pays well. Staff is friendly and Inviting. A very low stress job and the company does not breathe down your neck or step on your toes in any way. Overall a great job to have my only complaint is there are never other nurses to cover you if you need a day off (I work Monday through Friday 7a-5p. And the job is a bit slow paced for my liking. I prefer the busyness of the hospital. Also there is no pto. But Every nurse I have talked to at this company has said this is the best job they have ever had. Also an Extremely quick and easy hiring process. If your tired  of traditional nursing and all the politics that comes with it this would be a good company to join. It isn't traditional home health where you pop into people's houses periodically to change a bandage. It is private duty around the clock care (family cares for the pts at night) for Complex patients.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time working with Intellichoice. Throughout my tenure, I found the company to be a genuinely supportive environment. I had a great rapport with all of my supervisors, who were always available when needed.
Like any role in this field, there were certainly challenging times; however, I never felt like I was facing them alone. My ability to remain calm under pressure was well-supported by the team, which made a significant difference. Most importantly, my client greatly appreciated the care and assistance I provided, and it was deeply rewarding to see my client truly benefit from the support I offered.
I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience, and I would gladly work with Intellichoice again in the future.

If you've never worked with a loyal, rewarding company, you've never worked with Intellichoice.  It's a culture all in its own; the staff and patients hold equal ground.  The concept is very simple.  If you take care of the nurses, they will take care of the patients.  If we take care of the patients, everybody wins!  Every employee here looks forward to coming to work every day.  We have the resources and autonomy to do whatever the patients need.  This in turn provides the nursing staff to provide out-of-this-world care not only for the patients, but for themselves and their families also.  I will retire with Intellichoice!

They are patience with nurses, they have a respiratory therapist on staff, the whole office is professional

Anyone working with human lives is stressful so it is a relief to know we can alway call at what ever time of day one needs answers.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I work nights at the patient home.  The family is hands on.  If any questions the care giver which is mom is always there to answer or assist

I had a per diem position with this company. There are plenty of hours of available and I connected well with a few of my patients. Since it's home care, interaction with other staff is low unless you go to the office. Management could be more forthcoming about certain things will staff. I ultimately left after my schedule and shifts with a particular patient were changed right before the holidays with little notice. If you want a change from a fast-paced work environment, and you already have experience under the belt, this could be an option.
