I worked as an RN in internal medicine for many years. I often had to work for 2-4 providers at a time which was not safe or doable long term (rooming, point of care).
I asked for a raise many times and was told no, only to find the new hires were making much more than me, and the male RNs were making dollars more than me.
After I left, the company gave raises to many of the MAs - making it so many of them have the same pay as the RNs. There is no difference in job duties between RNs and MAs, so maybe the pay is fair, however every other company in Maine seems to have separation in job duties. It makes me wonder how MAs can practice at the same scope as an RN and how this is allowed. 

Management was often “too busy” to help with patient complaints, staffing issues, lunch coverage - we were essentially told to figure out ourselves with no resources. 
There is/was no “punishment” or consequence for being a bad employee and no reward or incentive to be a good employee. 

The pros include the option of a 4 day work week. Most of the providers are wonderful to work for and appreciative. 

Intermed is a great company that knows how to take care of its’ patients but not it’s’ employees.  Management is useless, not supportive, condescending, and unapproachable.  We are all overworked and unable to use PTO days when they are needed/wanted; even when giving more than adequate notice.  There are no incentives or appreciation from immediate managers for all the hard work we do and only get spoken to when they find something wrong.  If you ever have a concern, frustration, or even an idea to share, you don’t get a chance to speak and are talked over and not listened to.  It’s unfortunate that the turn over rate is so high because of poor management.  And forget moving up in the company unless you have a degree.  Raises come every year (if you’re lucky) and are very small.  No raises, promotions, or appreciation for hard work and the second you show frustration or share concerns, you’ll be belittled instead of heard.  Management is definitely not loyal to their loyal employees.

A typical day at work: 70-100 calls a day. 
management: Will only speak with you if you don't follow the prompts, they give you and will constantly ask you to stay late as they are always short-staffed and always have call outs. But hey they will reward you with a box of donuts in the break room! But be sure to only grab them on your 15-minute break or they will talk to you about that. They are also always changing the metrics for performance reviews, for example: answering calls immediately or having a 45-second wrap-up time after a call and then pestering you to just be ready instantly for the next call. 
workplace culture: They give you printed T-shirts with the company logo on them and occasionally bring in donuts. Literally every company does this. For meeting they would prefer you to use your lunch time to attend

The most enjoyable part of the job: Clocking out at the end of the day and my last day.

I have been at Intermed 5+ years. I have had flexibility to work hybrid. I've gotten a raise or bonus every year unlike any other company I've been with. I pay $0 for my employee health insurance. They put 3% in my 401k even if I didnt contribute anything plus a gain share bonus if the company does well. I get paid a decent wage and have flexibility if appointments come up. We get 4 float days a year to have off separate from PTO.  The managers have always been open door policy and warm/friendly to ask questions. I like that they're open to diversity. They go out of their way to have group activities, holiday contests, charity stuff, etc if interested.  Does anyone truly want to work? No. We'd rather win the lottery but for those that have to work like myself, I really can't complain and am thankful I chose Intermed to grow with. 

Currently working here. Reading other reviews about this place is not very surprising. It’s definitely a blame first ask questions later. The call center is very fast paced and god forbid you have a bad day on a busy day because you will get reprimanded. Feels like I’m forced be a robot. Most of the other associates are great. But management is hit or miss. The best part of the day is talking to understanding and kind patients but that’s usually a rarity unfortunately. All intermed cares about is getting more and more patients which means more and more money. Which in turn limits availability to current patients because all the docs are packed to the brim almost daily. And who gets yelled at? Call center… the upside is the pay is semi decent. Ability to work from home in certain positions. 

There are some great people at Intermed, but unfortunately they are the minority.  The pay is less than most facilities, the workload is higher, the training is minimal, and the employees are not treated very well.  Management is generally inexperienced, and it shows.  Intermed seems to have forgotten that their medical staff are highly trained professionals, not disposable cogs to be thrown away.  Trust is in short supply, you have to be VERY careful as many of your co-workers and managers are waiting to pounce on any kind of error.  The best part of the job was giving my resignation letter.  


I’ve never worked at a place that cared less about their employees.  Upper management has no loyalty to their staff.  They don’t even have the decency to fire people, what they do is “remove” your position , lower your pay and harass you until you quit.  
I once watched an entire department quit, and management did not care.  It was pretty impressive, and a clear sign that it was time to go.  Don’t count on management or HR to be there for you if you need them, they will throw you under the bus to cover themselves.  
I wouldn’t work here.  Your paycheck and sanity will be better off elsewhere.  

Intermed used to be a great place to work but something changed.  You cannot trust that your job is going to be there the next day.  Many, many employees & managers have simply been terminated for no reason.  Management is inexperienced, and administrators are valued FAR more than medical personnel(and treated better).  It’s impossible to “climb the ladder” because you have to be married to the CMO to get a promotion(I’m not kidding about this).  MANY strong employees have left, and management doesn’t seem to care.  Signs of a sinking ship, stay away!!!

I used to believe Intermed was a great company until I found out Human Resources and management is not on the side of the employee. A long time employee was accused of starting a rumor about another employee and management did not sit down with both employees to work out the problem. Instead the issue was brought to the attention of the accused employee after the accusing employee left the company so it was impossible to defend the accusation. Human Resourses couldn't prove any of the accusations but the employee was let go anyways.

I  roomed patients, took vital signs, weights, gave shots/immunizations, EKG's answered phones, performed ear lavages, helped with minor in office procedures, and  (didn't have EMR) looked for charts and put notes on them to give to providers.

I feel that I was able to learn a lot to help me advance in my career.  My co-workers were very friendly,helpful, and knowledgeable.  The hardest part was trying to track down charts to give to the providers. I feel the most enjoyable part of this work experience was interacting with the patient's and rest of the staff.
