It is a company that has been trying very hard to grow but has faced adversity in its market making group - Timber Hill. I worked at Timber Hill for a year a half before being transferred to Interactive Brokers LLC, both companies are subsidiaries of Interactive Brokers Group. I learned a lot as a Research Analyst at Timber Hill and found my time there to be extremely productive, not only for the company, but also for personal professional growth. As a representative in the Professional Services group, I did learn a lot about IB's other half, including all of the products and services that IB offers its institutional and proprietary trading clients. My co-workers were a mix in terms of educational backgrounds and work experiences - ranging from state schools to Ivy League schools as well as people who have worked in finance for over 20 years to being their first job out of college. Hardest part of the job is juggling all of the different day-to-day responsibilities as the work day does get chaotic and requires multi-tasking of five plus responsibilities. The most enjoyable part of my job was speaking with potential clients and telling about all the products and services that IB has to offer and hearing their typically surprised reaction. Most potential clients were impressed about IB's offerings and it was definitely gratifying and satisfying when I consistently help bring in new clients to the firm.

There are pros and cons working for IBLLC. The good thing about IB is that since the new CAMLO, things have been heading towards a better direction with the company. You can learn so much and get involved in many different areas if you apply yourself and speak up about your goals. Great new trainings. They paid for my ACAMS!
Disorganization and very minimal communication between departments. Wish there was a more flexible work environment (mandatory 3 days in office), have to take a paycut if you want to work remote permanently. No incentives or extras for working over 40hours (which you have to), should add like an extra pto day or add in some overtime pay. Very minimal pto days. Working hard, is not really noticed or rewarded. Hard to be promoted. Lunches are free but you have a daily amount limit. Which with the downtown prices is kind of ridiculous. 
Overall, it's a great company to learn a lot and get involved in a lot of areas and best if you do not need a lot of guidance to work here because majority of the time you work with minimal to no supervision and need to figure out who to reach out to to find out more information about any case.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Great Company to work for good pay Friendly atmosphere benefits are awesome. personally, I worked 20 great years performing Helpdesk Technical support for the employees and company. one of the best companies I have ever worked for before I retired.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
To be honest I did not have a lot of stressful times as I was part of the technical 
team and we were always busy with the data center or some project.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Everyone is cordial and Friendly and always busy setting up new hires or working on new projects.  Company outings to baseball games.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Onboarding new hires.  Setting up equipment phones headsets Access badges 
to the office.  Supporting the following offices Montreal, West Palm beach
Florida and a few others. Monitor the data center for any alerts during the night.

What is the best part of working at the company?
nothing is good about this company. Top heavy with Senior Managers, who do nothing, boss their employees around, and never put them in positions to succeed.  Think carefully before accepting an offer to work for this company.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
They hire students straight out of college, and promote them over senior employees, and then let them tell them what to do.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very cut throat culture. want employees to work 50-60 hr weeks, and not pay you. weekends too.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
getting screamed at by my manager for not being able to work a holiday. coworkers bossing me around, even though they are not my boss.

I worked on one team of many around the globe who deal with similar issues, depending on the region of the client. My team was by far the most professional, timely, knowledgeable, and successful of any other.  Because the managers of the Greenwich held us to high standards, we often picked up the slack left over from other regions. Through a lack of accountability grew an incentive of these other groups to neglect, and sometimes outright ignore, their work knowing that it would be picked up by my team. That said, I learned a great deal about all aspects of the financial markets, and worked with great people who were motivated and hard-working. It was an excellent stepping stone in my career.

It's like working for a telemarketing company. No support, not tools to work with, poor training. New Accounts department is the worse, it's cut throat and stressful, also causes anxiety. They have no training manual and expect for you to learn everything overnight then work at the same pace as people who been there for 10 years or more. People don't get promoted but you are expected to work at a very fast pace. Numbers matter more than the quality of work. They give you free lunch so that you are glued to your desk.

Interactive Brokers is a great entry point to the world of Finance and Capital Markets.

You will work with different types of customers and have to provide real-time solutions to their issues. Stressful job with rewarding perks such as free lunch and great health benefits.

Nothing at all. Very weird company

Every part. They stress people in AML compliance all day every day for no reason. Management is a joke

Gang mentality.  Kiss up and rude

Stressful, nothing to learn and everything is disorganized

The company is a fast pace environment.  Typical day of work is very busy because the financial reports are due on a daily basis.
Co-worker are very good.
The hardest part of the job is to get everything done on time and with accuracy.  Management is very demanding.
I enjoyed learning new things.  The company kept growing during the time I work there.

Decent job with great corporate benefits just like any other institution. Always busy and behind on applications. Most employees are ok, some are hostile. That passive aggressiveness is durable, but overall a great job for college graduate.
