My managers were great, as were the students, but the dean led these combative, extremely defensive, and confrontational staff meetings when I was there and clearly didn't trust the teachers. In fact, he'd interrupt staff meetings to harangue us without being on the agenda almost every meeting. He looked like he was about to burn out--hopefully he's gone already. Oh, I remember now, Dean Brevick. May no one treat you with even half the attitude you treated us, Bernie Brevick.

The students were taken advantage of, the teachers quite underpaid (especially to be so little respected). 

The curriculum was so bad that it would have been easier to write my own that try to fix theirs. Their required tests we had to give students were so mismatched to the curriculum as to be unethical at times. ESL students are the loviliest people out there in general, and were mostly wonderful at ICT, but I had an unusual number of instances of frustrated or even disrespectful students, which I chalk up to their sense of wasting money and not being well served. They make absurb promises and deals with students that have nothing to do with how people actually learn a second language. 

As a qualified teacher, undoing what ICT was doing made the low pay and general disrespect of educators (on the part of admin) unbearable. 

ICT really gave you so many hoops to jump through. For example, you had to enter a huge number of grades--I've never seen anything like it in education--and some of the grades you were supposed to enter were for assignments that didn't even exist! This is an organized, ethical, caring teacher's nightmare. 

I had just moved to Atlanta recently when I started with job, and wanted to crack the ESL world here. I accepted this job with reservations, struggled to finish the semester (which I only did for my students). My time would have been better spent volunteering with a credible organization. If you, like me, have already worked at some bad schools, don't do it to yourself again.

If you're just starting it, you won't learn any good habits. 

Absolutely don't take their split shifts. Nothing about ICT is worth that.

If you do take this job, don't stop looking for a better job. You'll see how bad the staff turnover is almost immediately...

A typical day for an Instructor is to teach a class from 9 am to 1 pm. Monday and Thursday, such as Grammar.  If the Instructor proves
to be a good Instructor and the students rate him, or her, highly, plus 
the Supervisor approves of the teaching style, which ICT is working 
on it being more uniform, then the Instructor will receive evening 
hours, or afternoon hours, as well.  Evening classes are from 6:00 pm
to 10 pm. On Tuesday and Friday, the same Instructor would teach Speaking, Listening, and Pronunciation.  On Wednesdays, the ESL Instructor would teach Reading, Writing and Vocabulary.  ICT also has afternoon classes from 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm.  Instructors are hired Part-Time.  Benefits are for Full-Time employees.

Management is very hands on.  Management trains Instructors on the ICT method and also comes into the classroom once per Block to oversee the Instructor's abilities.  After that, the two sit down and discuss strengths and weaknesses.  An improvement plan is given out and the Instructor has to follow it.  Instructors have to attend developmental meetings.

The hardest part is making sure that all the grades are in within the time frame given. Also, making sure that the adult learners don't skip class due to work, or their children.  Instructors are supposed to call students when they miss and the Advisors are, also.  Advisors are there for retention purposes.  The Admissions Department is there for recruitment and sales.

The workplace culture is hard to describe since all the Instructors and the students are from many different parts of the world.  If you like diversity, this is the place to teach.  I have learned a lot from the students about their cultures and backgrounds, as well as from the foreign Instructors.
If you have never been exposed to different cultures, ICT is a window to the world.  In that way, it is a very valuable teaching experience.

Don't apply to this horrible job. They treat you like worse than trash. They don't care about you or anything. They will work you to death and when they don't need you anymore, they fire you. They want you to have perfect numbers but they don't realize that it's not just the advisors or "Student Retention Specialist" fault, but even the teachers. 

The admissions rep. will lie to ALL the students and take advantage of them because they don't speak English. You will have A LOT of students with complaints about the admin reps, but NOTHING is every done with them. They just get a slap on the wrist and that's it. I was here for 2  years, and I saw EVERYTHING they did to the students and how they lied to them to sign a contract without even know what it's about. 
They will tell the students that they don't have to pay, I know of a few admin reps who have WRITTEN on the test for the students just to get them placed in a level 1 class just so they can get their numbers. That's the reason why students will leave half way through the semester and/or won't even go on to the next level. 

Don't apply here. Don't work here. It's not worth it. You don't work a 9-5 or anything, you work until you go to sleep. 

The pay is little to none.. there is little to no raise, EVER. No matter how hard you work. The owner of the school only cares about his money and that's it. Everyone cares about money, and they don't care about the student's wellbeing. 

Every Jan, you will have an annual meeting, and the owner, Smith, will tell everyone how you don't do a good job and will say why does he even have a department like this if "no one" does the work" and be little you and everyone else. 

The benefits don't kick in until 1.5-2 years AFTER you get hired. Management sucks and don't know how to do anything. Especially the director.

If you care about having a life, and care about other people, don't work here. It's literally the worst job there is. You get treated like trash, and are expected to go above and beyond for the school, when they trash talk the whole department.

A typical day at Interactive College of Technology involved juggling multiple responsibilities across systems, students, and campus operations. While the role offered exposure to education-based technology and multi-campus coordination, the lack of proper tools and support made it difficult to perform effectively and consistently.

What I learned most was resilience and adaptability—how to navigate unclear expectations, operate without adequate resources, and maintain professionalism in challenging environments. It also reinforced how critical structure, safety, and leadership accountability are to a successful workplace.

Management reflected a highly centralized, owner-driven approach. Decision-making often lacked transparency, and differing opinions—particularly with senior leadership—could negatively impact employees. Communication styles at the top were at times unprofessional, which affected morale and trust.

The workplace culture felt inconsistent and, at times, unsupportive. There were concerns around inclusivity, fairness, and psychological safety. Additionally, physical working conditions were a major issue, including reports of rodents and roaches, as well as serious safety concerns due to a lack of security—especially with late evening classes where both staff and students felt vulnerable.

The hardest part of the job was navigating an environment without the necessary tools, support, or safe working conditions while trying to meet expectations. The most enjoyable part was gaining hands-on experience, working with students, and developing resilience and clarity around the type of workplace culture and leadership standards I value moving forward.



I worked at Interactive College of Technology for a few months last year (2020). The location, building, and workspace were all pretty decent, as were most of the coworkers. That's where the praise ends.

I was hired as an enrollment counselor, and while I am used to making good commissions (the vast majority of my employment history has been in sales) this job doesn't pay much. However, I took the job due to being unemployed for a while and the location was great. In short, I was hired in the middle of the covid pandemic, and that might have contributed somewhat to the location's high disorganization...but it basically boiled down to a numbers games. If you're enrolling a set number of students every week, your job is safe (fair enough). But when you're CONSTANTLY  being compared to how the other locations are doing...locations that SPECIALIZE in the specific programs being offered...it gets old, tiresome, and just not worth it considering that the pay is not very enticing. There's no bonus structure in place...you simply make your hourly salary, and make it work.

Working as an admissions representative you are treated poorly almost daily. When I first started in admissions, I was given praise for enrolling students into the diploma and Associate degree programs. However, as time went on it seemed like my job wasn't important and they wanted more from me. It was hard to complete this job and be successful due to overworked leads and people who didn't answer the phone. (Cold calling almost NEVER works!!!) Management and upper level staff have no respect for their employees and they honestly could care less about their employees happiness and well-being. When I would go out in the community in order to recruit more people for the program, they would be upset I wasn't in the office enough. Don't be fooled, this is a HARD toxic work environment where numbers matter more than your job!!! I tried really hard but wasn't getting enough enrollments and appointments and my hours got cut to part time. In addition, I started as a salaried employee but 2 months later I was told I was going to be hourly. Working here, the hours were difficult (10:00 am to 8:00 pm), which made it nearly impossible to have a life outside of work. After basically being told I wasn't good enough for the position, I looked at other job opportunities and left ICT. This job took a toll on my mental health and I am SO glad to be out of there.

The owner of the college and his crew consisting of his friends, vice-presidents, do not care about anybody who works hard for them. People are under-paid and under-appreciated, and expected to work day and night, weekends. The talent is not welcomed. There is no opportunity for advancement, no trainings provided, and staff meetings/workshops are expected to be done during employees' personal time. People are afraid to express a concern or ask a question as threatened to be thrown out. Biggest hypocrites among the top leaders in the main campus in GA. The main philosophy of the college is to throw each other under the bus and for the top leaders to point fingers blaming hard workers who are not part of the top management. Highest turnover of instructors as most of them make the college just a temporary employment till they find somthing better in pay and schedule. Overall, the college programs are poor, very little care for students, it is all about getting Pell for the students who are constantly mislead by admissions/financial aid people.

It is a good job if you have nothing else to do at the moment. The pay was decent. Classrooms are comfortable. A lot of excellent students attend here. However…

It doesn’t matter how you teach, they only care about the number of students who pass. And they will pass them. They call themselves a non-attendance school, which means the student can just complete a few simple tests and get a certification.

You have to meet a percentage of students who complete their assignments. As a result, you have to babysit every adult student and keep calling them asking ‘Why haven’t you done your work?’. A student is really sick with cancer? Is visiting family in their country? That is bad for your numbers. You have to sign a document saying you’ll try to get better results. A student died and still appeared in the instructor’s monthly numbers!

I saw them having to close a class and placing students in a class they`ve seen before. Unacceptable! Students were either not fluent enough to complain or got frustrated for having to study the same pages, for four hours, for 5 weeks, again! Money comes first here.


I worked in admissions for a woman who broke so many rules regarding sales at Interactive College of Technology she tried to make me a spitting image of her. I am a graduate of the college and wanted to help make a difference to change the culture only to be suppressed by management from the dean, to directors, and the president. The dean of the college is married to person in charge of private loans for students with low credit scores and if you're not part of the "good old boy" pack your job is constantly threatened. Too much back stabbing from management and directors.
The admissions team is trained to get students enrolled at all costs and that means not telling the truth if you want to hit the goals the president sets for the staff.
Most of my ex co-workers were genuine and the hardest part of the job is to do a good job for the students. Doing a good job means telling the truth and to do that - you will not close enough sales to hit goal.
The most enjoyable part of the job was when the day was over because asking for forgiveness for misleading people was in order to be at peace.

Coordinate the affairs of my class. Pay attention to the attendance of students. Also, the status of any student's lacking behind in the class work. Visit the office of the dean for any pending relevant information. The college makes available career-related contents, including linking them school with the information of relevant opportunity in another university.  
Implement a conducive environment for learning and interact with in order to create a positive social change. A multi-faceted course system is set up in order to accommodate students schedule and open an opportunity for instructors to teach part-time in order to facilitate business productivity. Updates of the legislation affecting the school system and the effects of the legislation are often communicated by the legislative chairman.
Academically the teachers are amazing and doing their best to fit each student's academic needs, Personally, I have high optimism every year as a professor the that the institution will be accredited by one of the six well-known bodies a feat they achieved last year.
