Japan Airlines

After advancing to management and working in the Regional Vice President's office, it was really demanding but enjoyable.  The only negative thing towards the end of my career was that the newer top management from Japan did not treat their American workers with as much kindness as their predecessors who made everyone feel that you were working as a part of a "big family".  Most of the workers were of Japanese descent and I learned alot about my ancestral culture.  
The demands of the job in Human Resources and Administration gave me a very broad base upon which to build for future jobs and life in general.  Handling of people, insurance and medical issues, legal transactions, etc. were all a part of my job handling and it served me well in my life as well as in work.  
Meeting many interesting people and traveling to many destinations was a highlight of my years working for the airline.

Reviews station activity reports to ascertain data required for planning station operations. 
Administers all personnel needs, including the proper scheduling and shift assignments of both full and part-time ticketing agents and passenger service personnel , Ensures that procedures established by each carrier are properly carried out in a professional manner according to their specifications , Coordinates activities of passenger reservations and ticketing, passenger services ramp and cargo services, commissary services, and dispatching of aircraft to ensure operations meet company and government policies and regulations , Prepares appropriate paperwork for entry into international destination , Directs preparation of passenger lists, cargo manifest, and plans for stowage of cargo and baggage aboard aircraft , Evaluates training and performance records of employees to determine training required increasing employee efficiency.

A typical day at Japan Airlines was an opportunity to meet interesting people from all over the world and to bridge cultures in pursuit of common goals and interests. I learned that, regardless of differing backgrounds and cultures, most people want the same things out of life for themselves and their families. I found the Japanese system of rotating senior “home staff” management from Japan into positions of authority in North America every 3-4 years to be a stimulating challenge that generally produced very good results, but some “local hires” were never comfortable with it. The most enjoyable part of working for Japan Airlines was successfully adapting to the Japanese style of doing business and excelling in that environment. I loved that job and that company!

JAL is an awesome place to work at. Small group and sometimes feels family like. Teamwork is praised and encouraged. Fast paced work environment and a critical role in the safety and functionality of exporting goods.
The JAL's philosophy is strict and expects high level of professionalism, very good for a young professional.  Hardest thing about the job is pleasing management. It seems as if they play reverse psychology in order to make you work harder.  
Someone with no experience will be bombarded with information but they will give you more than enough time to learn and be prepared to do what is required of you. Overall I had a great time working their and really liked my coworkers.

Some pros:
-I think it’s the most diverse position with the least amount of pressure to speak Japanese
-in a division away from the airport you don’t get to see your other divisions too much so take that as a positive or a negative depending on you and for me I think it’s largely positive
-Nothing too difficult if you’re good at time management, basic math, and communication honestly 
-Good benefits if you read what you get and are able to cash them in.

Cons:
-Some business trips but few and far inbetween if that was what you’re hoping for.
-First ones in and possibly last ones out if a flight gets delayed or cancelled OT looks nice but staying and then working early the following day can be draining.

While there is opportunity for growth and advancement in the company, it is difficult to keep good relationships with management. Differences in language and culture can often lead to misunderstandings. There is a very strict division between management and front line employees.The hours are extremely irregular which is understandable for this industry, but the pay is very low and does not compensate the amount of time needed to dedicate to them. The positive part of this job is there are opportunities to train in Tokyo and other cities around the world should you ask for them.

Company always want you to contribute to the welfare of the company. 

Management always want you to be on standby on the weekends. The company wants you to be willing to work on Saturdays and trade them in for a day off on Mondays. 

Company wants you to believe that Monday off is just as good as a Saturday. Yeah, what ball game can I take my sons to on a Monday afternoon?

One summer day, we had no Air Conditioning, so the manager bought us a stick of ice cream to continue working in temperatures over 100 degrees.

Some of the staff.  Also learning the Japanese culture

Slow to progress in the US corporate world

It was very micromanaged and petty when I left

They like to see staff in the office.  There's little tolerance for working at home or starting your sales calls from home.

how can I upgrade more and more customer support skill.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
trying to adjust night shift schedules.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Respect all passengers and be polite .

While working here please be aware that there is a cultural difference. There will be a lot of miscommunication. If you are new to the job and company it will take a long time to adjust. People have been at the company doing the same job for over 10 years or since the 1970s. They are used to the old ways and hate change. You have to train yourself which can be challenging. No job opportunities and they treat women differently than they do men. (Please be aware of that)
