My Job
My job was a deli clerk and associate at Cub food hired from the main company Jerry's Enterprise Inc or some people know the subcategory of Jerry's Food.
I was a server, a helper and a cashier. The deli counter was together with the Cub chicken counter. I was responsible to help customers with menus, serving food, and doing simple task but necessary task like refilling food tray, deli meat, and salads. 
We were also responsible for keeping stuff clean and organized like the counters, scales, and slicers and bread. Especially during Covid-19.
Depending on what their looking for you may be responsible for mornings deli and salad cases, making pre-made sandwiches or filling stocks for deli department.

Covid-19 Procedures
Jerrys Enterprises Inc and Cub Foods did take necessary precautions for Covid-19. We placed markers for 6 feet distance. We were required to wear a mask unless the governor's orders were lifted. We had cash register shields to protect ourselves and customers. We had to wash our hands consistency and change gloves often.

Your co-workers and managers are nice and amazing people once you get to know them for the Cub I worked for. I was trained in a different store because my main store was down and during that time it seems Cubs has a very social and sweet community wit loving people who really care.

However, there were a few things to note about this job they are listed in the Cons. The job could be improved.

Very antiquated environment to work in..."do as I say, not as I do" philosophy.

Management's  leadership skills are sorely lacking.  People in management positions must have attained the job by default or lack of candidates because they are not management material.  

Communication from management to workers is non-existent.  There is no "This is how we do things and why" explanation.  Communication from the store manager is only through a word document posted by the time clock or left on the service counter...each usually accompanied by a threat of discipline or termination if not adhered to.  

Wages are sub-par for the amount of work and the industry.  There's been a wage increase freeze for the last three years!

Management takes underlings to task in front of co-workers.  

Store manager wants employees to screen his phone calls and lie for him so that he doesn't have to talk to salespeople or others (another communication via a posted document).

Schedules are completed one day before the new work week, and then for only the upcoming week.  So, employees have no ability to plan there lives outside of work just because the manager is lazy.

Absolutely no training of job duties.  If it wasn't for co-workers and observation, new employees wouldn't have a clue on how to do the various duties they are expected to do.

High turnover rate of employees.

Working at Jerry's Hardware in this cancerous atmosphere gives employees no hope that things will improve in the future and I blame upper management for no oversight at the store level!

I started at the minimum wage was in the area and left with not even A FULL DOLLAR RAISE! I have worked at another job and since I was performing well, I got a substantial raise as a reward. What was not fair was that I was doing more that was expected of my position workload wise and not getting compensated fairly. There were people working that were considerably younger than me and were earning $2-$5 MORE than me, doing LESS work than I was in a given day and I had been there longer than them. I brought up that I needed to be paid fairly to make the minimum income for my housing community and they did NOTHING! We got a temporary pay increase due to the pandemic, but it was short lived. Full time was never offered in my time there to anyone who asked for it. I averaged 28 hours a week, so a 7 hour shift for 4 days a week. I needed to work a minimum of 35 hours a week for my housing requirements. I did a lot of physical work and came home sore and exhausted. My own health took a nose dive in my last 2 years. 

They brought in a manger from Minnesota and he is clueless! Sanibel is a vacation destination, they charge premium for the product they sell but now provide ZERO customer service.  Lines of customers trying to get rung up and out of the store and no employees available because the manager is keeping labor cost down to get a bigger bonus, he could care less about the customers.  Customers have to wait for price checks because they have no one to put rices in the system. You have to send your groceries down a belt, customers get down there and have no one to help them because they short staff the store. We get yelled at by customers because we don't have enough help, they should be complaining to the corporate office. Cannot keep help because they  pay minimum wage and then treat you like they pay you $25 per hour.  Tell you get a lunch break but then ask you to come back early because they don't have enough help. They have chased off all they experienced employees because the manager is afraid of them making him look bad.  DO NOT WORK HERE, it is BAD.

I was able to learn a lot by working for Jerry's Enterprises and there are some really good people that work for Jerry's/Cub Foods. 
The down side would be: surrounded by too many staff who have been there for 15 years or more, on auto-pilot. It's frustrating to say the least. 
Management needs to tighten the reigns on employee break times and general lack of accountability. It's a union, but there are many steps you can take to encourage productivity and using write-ups, documentation.
The hardest part of my job was having people call in sick minutes before their shift or don't call at all. There were no consequences, none at all. 
The best part of my job was feeling like I had a second family at Jerry's !

The best part about the job were the coworkers. It was a great team. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Most stressful part of the job was being short staffed and not getting any breaks. No bathroom, no lunch. And the pay was way too low for the amount of pressure. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It’s like so many other places, short staffed. The environment would improve with better wages to draw workers and reward the hardworking people they have. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Hit the ground running, stay focused. Be accurate, efficient and helpful.

Expect to be timeclocked in the office. People say they don’t care but they watch and comment. 
Headline says it. Leadership is old school and stuck in time.  New ideas do not float well. Must obey upper leadership and youd be fine. Yes men wanted. 
Culture is a lot of good people in lower and mid positions trying to do their best. You’ll connect with people over how much work you have and how little time and resources to do it. 
Positive - there are a handful of genuine people that truly want to see you succeed. A lot of flexibility and self starting, self directed. 

the co-workers were friendly the place was clean/ every thing was stocked the way that customer could fine what they needed. I learned how to keep the books/ do the bank/management was helpful in teaching you thinks. a typical day- come to work get started on the money for the day then the books form the day before/did the money to be deposited/count the cigarettes stocked filled the cooler help up front when needed. Cleaned when needed. the most enjoyable part is banning with the customers and helping them. Have every on happy and doing there job.

Relations with other workers, it’s a very  cheap company who does not respect their employees and their longevity in the Eden Prairie Hardware store.

The pay is horrible in the Eden, Prairie store.

Stressful  with top management

Mornings from 8am to 2pm two days a week

What is the best part of working at the company?
Nothing. They don't pay the 3 dollar premium. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Upper management always changing. They are either inexperienced  or on their way out the door to retirement at the Elk River store.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Catty and back stabbing. Everyone for them self.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stressful, understaffed, do the work of 2 to 3 people.
