On a typical day, I would process invoices (3 way matching), follow up with invoices out for approval, code the approved invoices for entry.  I would post the batch of invoices entered once they were reviewed for accuracy. I would print the posted reports and file them. I would process credit memos, journal entries, employee expense reports, check requests, reconcile bank statements with check register, process credit cards.  At times, I would research returned checks, reconcile petty cash, set up new vendor accounts, review vendor statements, complete credit applications to set up account with outside vendor, void a check, process an on-demand check.   At the end of each week, I would run checks.

Management and the workplace culture acted like a coach.  The company took the approach to develop their employees to their fullest potential.

The hardest part of the job was getting supporting documents for check requests/wires from employees on a timely manner.  I was always in contact until the paperwork was completed. 

The enjoyable part was completing my duties each day. I worked hard to complete my duties each day. I would be prepared for whatever tomorrow brought that may require rearranging my daily duties.

What is the best part of working at the company?
This organization allows Jesus Christ in the work place. Ministry happens and you are allowed to serve God's people. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The imbalance of being the minority is a daily  challenge. It is very hard to work in an environment where you or your input is not always valued, (this is just my experience and it doesn't cover the entire organization).

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The people are genuine and caring people who love God but some don't always fully understand the true precepts of God. But I've found that most of them  strive to exemplify Christ in what they do.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I spend my day seeking to connect families to local ministries who will support those with disabilities.

Joni and Friends Ohio is a great place to serve people affected by disability and help churches welcome and include people with disabilities.  Whether through Family Retreats, Wheels for the World, or Church Relations training seminars, JAF Ohio is on the forefront of serving people affected by disability.  It was a great joy to be able to dream and innovate new ways to advance the company (based in Agoura Hills CA) mission, including creating One Accord and F.U.S.E.  Both conferences truly moved the organization into new territory and was highly lauded as "excellent" by leadership.

Management does not demonstrate care for employees.
Employees report punishment for asking questions or reporting concerns.
Respect is demanded instead of given.
The culture shifted from Lead Like Jesus - servant leadership - to a capitalistic corporate culture - "I" leadership.
Employees report being too scared of being fired to speak up.  Note: There is no hotline to an outside resource to anonymously report concerns about management behavior.

For a Christian company, underhanded in their management style.  I found them to be the most cruel of all my employers. They worked behind the scenes to restructure my job so that they could lay me off due to a discord between me and my new supervisor.  My work was fine, they could not find a reason to fire me, so re titled my position so they could legally lay me off.

The employees are very kind and encouraging, all voices are considered, got to meet with many teams, collaboration + bonding between departments was definitely there. Lots of fun events for staff, whether in or outside of the office. very friendly and passionate about caring for and sharing hope with people living with disability.

Great place to work.  Treats employees well, good benefits.  Christian non-profit that provides wheelchairs and other services to the disabled all over the world.  Everyone is very committed to the organizations values, vision and purpose.

I learned so much about the disability community and what they face on a daily basis.  I grew in knowledge and compassion as I reached out to others. Working for Joni was a dream come true for me as I read her book as a teenager.

Pressure is placed in all the wrong areas. JAF will tell you that fundraising is a ministry and raising money is less important than ministering to people. However pressure is put on all staff and the donors.
