* A typical day at work:

Get your next delivery in the app, pick up your order (live or drop & hook), deliver your order. Rinse and repeat. But thing can be done in between, for example, you will get many relays, many of them in the middle of your 10 hours break, if you are sleeping you have to wake up to switch trailers and paperwork. 

* What you believe you learned:
More experience over the road, and to always be sure to get proof of everything to get your back covered.

* Management:
They are fast to get your truck fixed in order to keep running, but the management is only worried about the deliveries and being on time no matter what.

* Workplace culture:
Company and administrative positions first, drivers last, they don't care about their drivers. They know drivers can be replaceable, that is why the do orientations twice a week and hire a lot of drivers every week.

* The hardest part of the job:
There is no fixed shift, you have to sleep at any time your HOS runs out, plus they wake you up in the middle of your sleep with calls or text messages or to do relays. The reality is it doesn't matter if you are tired, they really don't care about it.

* The most enjoyable part of the job:
Going home for 10 full days of rest.

* Extra notes:
- If your HOS are near to runs out, and they really need that delivery they call you to ask for your approval to modify your HOS in order to "gain" extra time.
- This is a non-stop position for 60 days if you sign in for that. Expect to work very hard for the money.
- The offer 10 days off at home, these are real 10 full days, the day you spend travel to home and coming back to work doesn't count towards your days off.
- If you quit they will only pay a bus ticket to get back to home instead of a flight ticket.
- Things that doesn't make any sense: Safety department will never complaint if  you are in your 10 hours break, OFF DUTY and you have to switch trailers with another driver, they don't care, that is fine,  even if that is something that requires to be ON DUTY. But they will call you for other stuff less important than that.

I have been here for around a month and was in class with two of these posters.  How did I know it was them, because they both called me complaing and wining about K&B and life as a whole, one has moved to another company and was calling complaining about them to.  The only thing they were proud about is the reviews they left on K&B and their past companies.  I finally quit answering the phone and ignored text messages, why would I want to talk to people that just complain.  It honestly made it clear to me that most these posters are just the cry babies we see at truck stops.  As far as the posters the guy with the title company driver just wasn't a good driver.  I sat next to him in orientation and he actually made our day longer trying to figure out his work history, had so many jobs he had to clal his wife for help.  All he did is complained at everything.  The second poster not recommended complained the whole orientation class, overslept on day two and then had some type of issues with his drug screen that he blamed on the company and couldn't go out with us in a truck.  Never drove here, not one mile.  

Here is the truth on K&B.  I have done great.  My first check was takehome of almost $2000 but that is because of orientation pay, since all checks have been $1000 plus.  One of these yahoos was mad because he didn't get orientation pay when he started.  I have yet to be somewhere that they pay you when you start.  He thought he should get cash and cried half the day about it.  Yes you do loose the guarantee when home but where do you drive that you make as much on the road as when home?  find that and tell me and I will leave hear.  Trucks are good, I have not been asked to do one illigal thing, everyone is nice from my dispatcher , night dispatcher and weekends.  Everyone is friendly.  I am actually at the terminal right now getting my truck serviced and I am sitting in the lounge, they got me a hotel for the day.  Don't listen to the crybabies as they cry about everyone.  The one poster went to SRT and left there already.  People bring on their own problems, but if they just weren't lazy or winers they would be fine.  10/4

The pay is ok, but could be better considering you're out on the road with no reset and your break is taken where they want you to take it, most time at the shipper or the truck stop they want you to take it. They do a lot of micro managing. Honestly, they own you for the whole time you're on the road. One important thing they won't tell you ( THEY WILL HAVE YOU DOWNLOAD THIS APP ON YOUR PHONE TO TRACK EVERYTHING YOU'RE DOING ) if you touch that phone while you're driving for any reason, you will get a phone call from Safeway.  They will most likely not tell you about this until you're hired, but this is something they take very seriously. Forget about getting a reset, if you're out for 2 months which they call a road warrior, best believe you will be working every single day without a day off. You do get your 10 hours, but believe me, those 10 hours are not spent at a location of your choosen which a lot of times when your at the shipper or receiver off duty, that goes towards your break so you have to be very clever with them on that. They do take care of their equipments and will place you in a hotel if it'll take more than a day to get your truck fixed. They offer benefits like most companies. Overall, you sacrifice way more than you're getting back. They don't have good work and home time balance. Yeah, it may sound good working 2 months and be home 10 days, but you're working every day for those 2 months and that's 10 days home straight you're not getting pay. When you do the numbers, deducting expenses on the road for that 2 month and the 10 days you don't get pay while being at home, you'll realize, it's not that much difference than If you were doing 3 weeks out, it pretty much evens out, basically, 2 months out make them more money, not you. Hope this helps. Oh yeah, if you're late to pickup or delivery 3 times, you're out of there...

I took this job out of desparate after a long time out of work.  I can't really complain about the home tome as I stay out extra long to try to catch up for the time I was not working.  There's the rub. The 2500 mile per week guarantee.  They pay it within very clear perameters.  It's a nice little safety net.  The problem is that there are far too many weeks that they have to pay the guarantee  or just barely get you the 2500 actual paid miles due to lack of miles and wasted time.  I am away from my family all the time because I want to earnearn enough money to support them so need many more miles.  As a minimum I ask for an average of at least 430 mi per day and they can't get it done. Realistically I can do 510 a day but only ask for the 430 as a MINIMUM. Could do better and earn more while getting better sleep if the company would raise the truck speed too. Trucks are set at 62 on cruise and 65 on foot.  So if you want to use your dot hrs up fast you can just cruise it but if you want to make the best time posdible with this set up you are stuck wearing out your foot leg and back and being significantly more fatigued than you otherwise would be. Finally the constant switching from day to night to day and back again is exactly what the hos is trying to prevent with the 14 hr work window and 1p hr break.  I don't mind running at night but quit switching me up and get me some bloody miles.  I would recommend you look elsewhere unless you are desperate or need to gain some recent time in a truck to move on to greener pastures in the next year or two.  This is not a place to stay long term.  Some people say those who complain abot K & B are lazy and that's garbage.  I'm begging for more work and miles and they either cannot or will not give it to me.

K and B was the most honest company I ever worked for. They gave me a plane ticket to get out to sioux city and put you in a hotel by yourself, no roomate. When you get to orientation there is no beating around the bush. They are as straightforward as one would hope a company to be. They tell you everything that is expected of you. It's only a two day orientation which is great because it got us out on the road faster so we could make money. A lot of people say they dont like how they check up on you, but they only did that to me for a week. Once they get a feel for you, and they know that you care as much about on time delivery as them, they never call and ask what you are doing again.  I never once had them call me in the middle of my 10 hour break because I had great communication with my dispatcher and the night dispatch.  The weekly guarantee is always honored, and they even paid it to me a couple of times when I didnt work the full week.  You will do most of your driving at night which doesnt matter as long as you get proper sleep. Also they are really fast at getting the truck maintenance fixed. No waiting on hold for anhour to get through and another hour for payment. Overall I would recommend this company to any driver who does want to sit at truck stops and wants to keep moving and making money. The only reason I left is because I relocated to a state that they have very little freight going to.50 a mile is pretty good and their is absolutely no reason a driver shouldn't gross 65000+ a year at K and B.

K&B Transportation is a great place to work with a guaranteed pay and with the announcement of their increase in Pay starting at $0.50 a mile you're looking at 12:50 a week working Monday to Monday. You get newer trucks that work great they all have AP use they all have refrigerators they all have inverters. You do sit a lot in between jobs just because you're waiting on the loads but you have a guaranteed pay so it's a very relaxed truck driving job. You get a day off for every week that you're out so you can literally go home every two weeks and have two days off if that's what you choose to do. The only downside to this company is you do go night day night day every once in awhile but it's rare and they do give you lots of time to sleep if you have to you will learn how to do an 8-2 split like a pro. They offer full health benefits after 60 days they give you vacation pay they give you a bonus for clean inspections that you view safety bonuses they also allow you to take $100 advance twice a week if you need it. Management is great the planning department is not the best planning department because they're so busy but the dispatchers the DM's the overall management you're not going to find better in the industry just the planners are the ones in my opinion that need help. They do not allow pets from what I understand that's just an owner policy be honest with you I don't know why they have that policy if they allowed pets this company pretty much would be the only company you'd want to work for ever.

This Company is not for everyone! If you have little experience and if your understanding of hours of service is weak, than you won't do well here.  80% of your workload will be during night hours. Expect on the unexpected guys & girls. There are multiple relays throughout the course of a work week. Relays are when you switch loads, or trailers with another driver at an appointed location. Often,  these relays are set up late at night, or early morning. These relays can be difficult to deal with , as they can happen during your 10 hour break. Keep in mind , that K& B will not allow you to reset your hours while you are out. This means that you will be running recaps between your hometimes. If your considering working here, you will need to make sure that your home is near a truck stop, or that there is adequate parking near your home. This is important , as K& B will NOT reimburse any parking fees while YOU ARE HOME. They will only reimburse your parking fees while OUT OVER THE ROAD. I hope that this helps you people out as much as possible.

This company is not what they claim to be. It's what they don't tell you that gets you. 
They arrange to get you to orientation. Once you are there everything changes. 
When you get there they tell you you'll get the orientation pay but you don't. I found a few drivers who said that they withhold drug test results. I've always heard when you are a truck driver you are the captain of the ship. This is not the case with this company. They are forced dispatch. They fine you for various minor things such as if the load is short or damaged. If you get a ticket for any reason you have to pay for it, then they fine you for it and take it out of your check. They're rude and argumentative. When you confront them with something they put you off and say "Oh we'll talk about that later , we are not getting in to that right now". They said that you have to be "on call" even when you are on home time. And that if you don't call in within 24 hours of being at home that they will charge you with grand theft auto. If you request home time they want to know why you want to be home on a specific date.  If you disagree with them they are ready to put you on a bus back to your home state at your expense. They didn't seem to want to listen to anything I had to say. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Don't do it.

I worked for them a little over two years, the first few months were an adjustment as I wasn't used to running quite as hard as they wanted me to, but I quickly adapted. They have this alternate track called the "Road Warrior Program" where you make more CPM but you're gone much longer - you get more time off when you go home though - and I did that for the rest of my employment term with them. I didn't have any issues with my dispatcher, not really, and the pay was okay, but not the best for how long I personally chose to stay out for.

The constant relays become a chore and they can really cut into your mileage, affecting your earnings, and the appointment times can be very bunk. There were a few locations I absolutely hated going to, very out in the sticks or very tight docks that took a long time to get into, as well as sometimes incorrect appt times for vendors (pickup and delivery both, but usually the former when this did happen).

Overall my experience wasn't terrible, but I hated when they implemented the weird driver app that blocks most functionality for your mobile device that they mandate you must run while you drive that monitors all activity on ALL of your devices on the truck.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Kb transportation only cared about pushing numbers, they didn't care about driver safety.   Most of all the trucks they'd give new employees had extremely high miles and we're not clean or reliable.   You as a driver were treated as a nothing but a number. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
There is a clear divide of us versus them, administration/dispatchers against truck drivers.  Dispatchers are quick to tell you I'm your manager or boss.  It's a very toxic work environment.   I asked the safety manager why are the trucks without safety equipment such as a deer guard and step apron,  he flat out said drivers and grills are easy to replace and besides we can carry more freight weight without them.

I'd checkout my truck, pre-trip maintenance, check my messages on the tablet.   Check in with dispatch for any special instructions.   Plot my course for breaks, fuel, stops and bed down after driving.
