I have worked for Kare for over a year and just completed my last too shifts before ending my relationship with them. 1 st I’m in the Illinois market and it went from great to not worth the time or drive , the rates are anywhere from 32 to 40 with 40 being rare,  some of the facilities are very nice but most aren’t, you may get support from staff but mostly not, if you call on you are suppended for a week, 1 had a flat tire and could make a shift and they asked me for a police report!! What and where they do that at?  I tested positive for Covid and was suspended for last min call off. You will show up to a building on time with no nurse for report no norm count nothing no support from Kare you will show up for your shift and find out you are working two and a half unit because the DON doesn’t what to pay for another nurse no help or support from Kare, I once showed up to a Al building and there was a piece of paper with instructions about who gets what, when I asked for the MAR it was months old and partially signed . Again no support my last shift was Monday And the facility was 52 miles away I called in could not stomach another aweful building thank god my account was suspended, I went and got a regular job. I think the only think that keeps you agency of the daily pay and flexible schedule but what good is the flexibility schedule if they don’t have any safe shifts. Good luck too all I hope this helps but remember they will not support you if something happens.

If you’re looking to get jobs with Kare be aware that sometimes you do NOT get selected. Personally I’ve applied with 15 different communities and NOT ONE selected me. And I have worked other communities and received 5star reviews. Just be very aware that these jobs you “apply” for are not a guarantee. Very frustrating to say the least. I also have used clickboard and never had an issue with being picked because once you pick the shift it’s yours. 
I’ve applied to many different shifts and days at once and never have I ever been selected with Kare. By far one of the worst experiences. This is not a job for you if you plan on having a steady income just working for kare. The management or customer service whatever you call it, they will respond quickly with any questions. 
So that’s a plus. But these communities they have listed are all mostly down on the opposite side of town from me. Even the state. 
Like do they not have communities near

ALSO, do NOT expect a high payout. The communities mostly pay the least amount. With a “bonus” of 10-20$ haha! What a joke 
You make 17$ in Colorado with Kare minimum, the most I have seen is 30$ but those communities pick someone other than yourself so don’t even bother. You can make upwards of 20$ working full time at a facility rather than Kare. Good luck when choosing this app. 


Yes you do have the flexibility of choosing your own hours, if you’re lucky enough to find an available shift. There’s dozens of people applying for every single shift because kare allows people to come work in other states when they are not needed. The facilities kare is partnered  with are very dirty, have minimal to no supplies, very short staffed, and very poor management. Just about all the facilities have been renamed numerous times to try to avoid their horrific history associated with the facility. Kare support operates with unreasonable hours, so you better hope you don’t get stuck needing help outside of their “business hours”. When you do reach out to support you will get a different answer to your questions every single time. Getting truthful reliable answers is a long shot. If you call support for an issue on a shift they say “you should’ve left a note about it at the end of your shift” otherwise nothing can be done. No benefits. No overtime. They will schedule you for 24+ hours (because their app constantly glitches) and then penalize you for cancelling a shift. When the app glitches you miss out on shifts, payments get delayed, you get double booked and it’s all your own fault. Kare does not look out for their employees AT ALL!! 

Initially, when I began working with Kare work was quite steady.  All of a sudden now it is difficult to get approved for any shifts where there may be multiple availabilities.  My profile attendance score and rating is high, credentials on file has not expired, background check and drug screen is clear, and my resume is on file.  Therefore, I don't understand what the issue could be. Also, it would be nice if a caregiver (Nurse/CNA/Med Tech) could see a list of any facility that may have placed a DNR under your profile. That way, this will provide the caregiver an opportunity to maybe reach out to the facility for clarity pertaining to their decision. I do not understand how these companies could allow a facility to place a DNR on any care giver when all that we are providing are services and the flexibility that facilities so highly request and so desperately need from us. They should be mailing out thank to notes instead. I feel that these platforms do not support caregivers and advocate respect for us the way that we deserve.  As long as the facilities are paying them a fee that is all that they see.  In some aspect it is better to just find a company/facility to work directly for. One that has not been affiliated with the platform. 

This app is a joke almost.. takes forever to get onboarded. I was excited to use the app to make extra Money but it’s so hard to get approved for shifts. I’ve since started to use Clipboard bc once I book a shift it’s mine and there’s instant pay as soon as you clock out. 

Some Facilities are still paying  as low as $12/hr, they’ll add a high bonus but if you don’t get 4 or 5 stars you don’t get the bonus that made the shift worth booking. Some will rate you low so you don’t get the bonus. The lowest paying facilities are usually the nursing homes who don’t have any supplies, are dirty, and very UNDERSTAFFED.

 Facilities have favorites that they pick which I understand but how can you have 5 of the same shift and not pick me for either of them, then the day of the shift will still need to be filled? 

They want you to press “Ready to Go” 2 hours before your shift.. why would I be up 2 hours early for a shift that is 15minutes from my house? That’s annoying when trying to get sleep, if you don’t press the buttons you lose “Reliability Points” ? 

The attendance policy is weird as well.. no matter  when you cancel a shift, whether it be 5 days before or an hour before your account is suspended for 3 days up and up.. Clipboard has attendance points which is a better system. 

Kare is a joke when it comes to family and self. They state IF you are not capable of working a shift REGARDLESS of ample amount of notice, then you must have a doctors note. It does not matter if you've worked hard for a 5 star rating and a high reliability score. Once the need to call off at least one shift, you are suspended for 7 days, until a doctors note is produced. All of us employees are capable of knowing when to see a doctor. Mind you just because you are under the weather does not mean you visit the doctor every time. This goes the same for parents who have a sick child. NOT EVERY situation requires a visit! So, given that one may not have insurance because they are in between jobs, or just starting off and there is a 90 day wait period. WE JUST DON'T GO WALKING INTO CLINICS and OFFICES without having a bill in return. And that is something Kare will not do, and consider this about their employees. Mind you they give generic responses to your circumstance and you can tell they could care less.

First and foremost I’ve worked with Kare for about 3 years now and first it was great! The pay and support from Kare matched the company values and tradition. Now it horrible my pass 3 shift the facility has given a low rating so that they won’t have to pay out bonuses despite me picking up last minute shifts to be a “hero” for them and I keep contacting support and they have told me multiple times that even tho the facilities are making these accusations in order to rate low that they aren’t able to do anything. Despite me asking if we could sit down and review cameras. I asked Kare support if they could do anything about this so we can resolve and Kare stated that it was nothing they can do. That it was up to the facility to “accurately” report ratings for shifts!!! Kare has lost a GREAT “hero”! I DO NOT RECOMMEND WORKING HERE!!! This agency does not care for it’s employees 

This company has potential, i like what KARE as a company does.  But the work environment in Mexico (GDL) offices is the most TOXIC work place i have ever experienced.  Their upper management lacks the skills to drive a team, they are by far like kids in highschool competing for popularity.  They do not possess the knowledege or skills to lead a team, none of them.  They make your work life balance miserable, they love to micromanage and the worst part is that they never have a strategy, they are just picking out their favorite person and leaving treating the rest like kids.  They do not provide a professional enviroment, and lets not talk about career growth, is non-existant.  

I think if they re-structured their company, they would have a more successful team and be a more successful company.  

if you have a chance to work with KARE, dont take it unless you want to be "managed" by a bunch of monkeys. 

If you call in for your shift 8hrs or less you get a week suspension. Unrealistic. You need 4 or 5 stars for the extra bonuses offered on some shifts… Be warned: some facilities will rate you 3 stars or less to get out of paying the $50/$75/$100 bonus that helped make the shift decent paying. And KARE does not back the employee. Facility will give no reason and a generic response as to why they gave you low stars. 
I honestly wouldnt recommend KARE. Very few hours, they dont back the employee; and they text you all hours of the day and night! You have a shift at 7am and wake up at 6am too about 5 messages. Turn your ringer off before bed or your bound to get woke up. They want you to press “Get Ready” for your shift 2hrs before or your scheduled time or your attendance score will be effected. 75% of the time im not even up an hour before the shift so to require 2hours or get deducted is horrible. 

I worked with this company since 2020 and some days the shifts you apply for won’t get approved until last minute and I have cancled them due to that and being sick so that made my reliability go down (6.5/10) so in order to get it up you have to take shifts, they either didn’t have shifts I wanted or I was working full time and they’ve placed me on a 30 day trial twice and today they called to do it again but the call got disconnected so when I was trying to reach back out I get. A message I’ve been removed permanently!!! How do I go from 30 days to permanently?? And whenever you have an issue they never get back to you! I reported a job three weeks ago and no one never followed up! I thought this was a good app but their customer service is poor and decision making is all over without clear details and communication
