I can only speak for the aba department. If your a bcba or currently enrolled in a graduate program to become one you will be respected more than those just starting out in the field. I had some aba experience and knew the basics but I did not get the support I needed to succeed. It was a revolving door situation. It seems very welcoming in the beginning to get you on board. Once hired they will decide if they want to keep you and if you are a suck up and are fluent in how to run sessions they may keep you. If not there will be some excuse to terminate even if it means lying about something that happened that didn't. VERY SHADY! If your already a bcba or bcba candidate you may fit into their clique but they do not want to invest/commit to the ones that want to learn and are already reliable/committed which does not benefit the children on the autism spectrum. 

Worked at kdc for 6 years I love and adore all my staff and dayhab direct coworkers in my department. Lasted this long because the staff members there became a part of my family!!!!Loving & caring long jevity staff members. Individuals being supported became family!! Staff get paid little to nothing for the amount of things being done and asked of staff to do. Well under paid and unappreciated by Internal and upper management. Internal and upper management sucks! No confidentiality at all. No support from them and definitely no recognition. No room for growth! Upper management doesn’t come down to meet with staff! Always hiring new people for upper management made up positions. Under staff at program and no one seems to care. In the 6 years I been there for maybe 2 raises barely enough to buy a single pack of .35 cents gum! 6 years I been there been through 5 directors now can y’all see an issue here?! Thanks

a typical day would be going on scheduled home visits, teaching life skill, handling medical, legal, financial appointments. Working with contracting agencies, the public and private sector. Time management was important. Communication with superiors, paperwork, reports etc were done in timely and proficient manners. The hardest part of the job was when emergencies came up and someone was hospitalized or injured. The most enjoyable part of the job was when we were able to have an enjoyable outing with a client (or several) ex. beach days, car races, movies etc.

The job itself, great. It’s an enjoyable , flexible one with lots of amazing families you will get to meet and work with. You have all the flexibility in your scheduling as long as you are communicative and working your hours it is extremely flexible. The people are great and managers are also great, understanding, and helpful. 

The benefits and pay are my biggest “con” we get paid less than most people in our field would. We can get bonuses however , but that’s no guanrentee and heavily relies on you not to get sick and patients and families to not cancel you (which we can’t control) there is little room to move up in the company and no yearly raises, only occasional cost of living raises , Christmas bonus sometimes etc.

Beware KDC is an highly unprofessional company to work for. Management is a joke with no clear communication. Supervisor don’t do their job. They don’t follow up with staff or clients. They make everything more confusing than needed. If you don’t attend training they schedule without your knowledge you are threatened with suspension. Worst company I have ever worked for. They make a lot of mistakes, but will never admit to them and instead cover them up with false information. They have an extremely high employee turnover rate. They are a very understaffed company and provide no back up coverage to their clients. They expect employees to work longer hours to cover these shifts. Never apply to this company. It’s an absolutely a horrible place to work for.

My time at KDC was short, but the time spent there opened my eyes to a forward thinking group of leaders.
They are often misunderstood, by both the employees and Board of Directors.  They were making plans for a future of Value-Based Reimbursement vs the current Fee-For Service model being used by majority of Human Service organizations, and that piece of strategy just did not mesh well with the hoards of people that love things to be THE WAY THEY"VE ALWAYS BEEN.
Such fundamental differences forced my hand in leaving, but I am sure they will right the ship and get on the same page (Leadership|Board|Employees)

Overall good place to work; Decent Pay. Decent work/life balance (if you're in managerial position). Open door culture.

I temped there for less than 6 months helping out in their accounting department. I worked there before they built their nice big new office on Route 140 in Foxboro.   Many of the staff were really nice and personable.  The manager I worked under (Controller)... not so much.  

I actually saw her snap at a co-worker (very nice, quiet lady) for no good reason one morning after she came in.  I heard her making fun of me when she was in a room with someone else and thought I was way down the hall but I had actually come into the hallway to file some things.  

She was like a walking ball of tension - you never knew what mood she would be in that day.  I guess since she was in charge of most of us she felt it was ok to be cranky and make people uncomfortable. I wasn't sad to leave that position.

The legacy of Kennedy-Donovan Center is one of pride and purpose, unfortunately the current players in upper management are quickly squandering that legacy. They don’t offer any real training or support for their employees and lower level managers, but they’ll be the first to criticize and terminate those same employees when things go wrong. They’ll promise you the world, and deliver maybe a pizza. The pay is stagnant and the hours they want you to work are endless, unless you’re one of the “big wigs” based out of their Administrative Offices in Foxboro. Then you can leave at a reasonable time and ignore your On-Call phone with no repercussions.

At the current rate, I don’t see KDC making it to their 60th year. 

TLDR: you won’t be appreciated, apply elsewhere.

KDC is a non-profit organization that is well run. The individual programs are managed pretty well. They need stronger leadership and larger goals.
The hardest part of the job is the lack of evaluations. Staff are put in a place where their raises are contingent upon their evaluations. Management doesn't take care of that in a timely manner and the staff wait months for raises.
Most enjoyable part of the job is the relationships you build with the people you serve. Learning their likes and dislikes. Creating a family type atmosphere and ultimately improving their quality of life.
Hours can be mandated if no staff are available. However, that is expected in human services.

Misogynistic and the dead Kennedys would roll over in their graves if they knew how horrible staff were treated especially from non-traditional families. An "abomination" to the Kennedy (and Donovan name) and not in  the spirit of the name sake. A great and unfortunate example of a non-profit on cape that functions as a business.This is not limited to ignoring the protections for workers in the commonwealth with regard to pay and hours off the clock. And violating the protocols with access to state system with providing  DMR supported services. Very sad a non-profit that started with such a noble mission functions in this manner.
