I worked in midtown across from MSG (Madison Square Garden).

The orientation was pretty basic, but there was an overabundance of account generation and password generation for so many tools that should have been done BEFORE day 1.

The management was cool, although sometimes it seemed like they didn't value the technical engineers as much through the monotonous and repetitive tasks. When you have a question about a kiosk, the employees knew more about a kiosk and was willing to provide valued information than the team leads. 

Fridays would have a time slot dedicated to learning whatever you want, but technical/troubleshooting engineers weren't allowed to break from daily tasks (so then what's the point of having the event on our calendars in the first place).

Workplace culture seemed immature at times and cross-training would have helped everyone have an understanding of what each team did (I.E. DevOps cross-train with services). There was barely any cross over between teams. 

Rotational hours for troubleshooting engineers were a plus, as you can be flexible with your hours weekly so it provided dynamic days to catch up on work you missed out on doing.

ENJOYMENTS:

Company-paid luncheons, happy-hours with everyone on Friday, transparency into fiscal quarter results with EVERYONE, mindfulness and health activities in the afternoon, diverse group of individuals in marketing, finance, engineering, and product design teams.

DISLIKES:

Suggestions seemed to either be rejected and would fall on deaf ears. Teammates would publicly criticize you out in the open rather than face-to-face, which shows a lack of integrity for the company as a whole. Job security non-existent for technical engineers.

You start work at 8:00 a.m. EST and are sent straight to your station. If you’re unlucky like I was, you’re completely secluded from everyone else—placed in your own row and not allowed to talk to anyone for eight hours a day, five days a week, and you’re reprimanded if you do. I didn’t learn much beyond how to assemble a kiosk. Despite having prior knowledge in Python and Linux, I was passed over for a position I was told I would be moving into, and instead it was given to someone with no prior experience. Management is extremely poor and constantly looks for reasons to reprimand employees. They will discipline you for talking, yet management themselves walk around chatting for hours at a time without leaving anyone alone. The most difficult part of the job was being expected to handle far more work than others. I was routinely assigned multiple kiosks at once, while most employees were limited to working on only one. This felt very unfair and highly unprofessional The only enjoyable part of the job was being allowed to listen to music while working.

I loved that job more than anything! But the company itself could’ve used a lot of work. They were difficult to work for because there was 0 work/life balance. They were so demanding full time was 50 hours not 40. And they paid very little. At the time I was working for them temporarily through an agency and the pay I was receiving I was satisfied with but I only received that number because of the agency. Once they offered me the position full time permanently they offered me a LOWER pay! And the benefits were trash. Especially with how demanding they were. And yet I’d still go back just because that was the most fun job I had personally. It was fun, I had to use all of my skills and I didn’t have to deal with the problems of on site work. But now the company’s rep is in the gutter (amongst customers) 😞 
ALSO they complained A LOT if you stepped away from your cpu and it fell asleep and mine would do that after 2 secs I felt stuck to that thing. How could you even go walks? 

When I started working, everyone was great. They have monthly events, but space is limited (sign up through google docs, but the people that signs up/goes are always the same 15.) But as time went on, things started to take a bad turn. It started with the those in operations got their vacation days deducted, while those in finance still had their original days. Then those in operations had to do a clock-in system. Then those in operations get paid hourly instead of salary now. You see the pattern.

If you're applying for an office position, get ready for a confusing time, no one knows what they are doing, besides the engineers (most of the time.)

I would avoid if you are going into an operations/CS role

I rather ask for money on the street than give this company my time and energy.  The CEO is amazing! Real humble guy that legit sits on the floor to do his work.  Anyone that is directly under the CEO is also amazing! The issue is middle management. I’ve never met such childish people in my life. For the exception of 3 assistant managers/team leaders I really hated going to work and being around these people.

It’s a high-school type of crowd...full of drama. 

Some of the leaders/peers are really amazing and helpful and willing to teach you all things work related if you don’t understand the task at hand.   

Definitely apply if you want to pick your schedule out of a hat. 




Environment was laid back and fun but that might be part of the problem. No real sense of direction or purpose; management talks a good game but otherwise came off corporate even though it's a tech startup. The owner Greg is a really nice guy and open to conversation anytime; however, again, maybe because of that the rest of the job felt... Directionless. Pay and benefits were good, no complaints there. Overall everyone is nice and helpful for the most part but just rudderless it seems. Also layoffs because of "pandemic" came out of nowhere

KeyMe was great when I first started but as time went on, it got really bad. Management is more concerned now with numbers and how often you're away on calls than anything else. It's what you would imagine a telecom call center to be. The culture is gone, mostly because the customer service department is in an entirely different building, in an entirely different state. Everyone there is unhappy and they are driving away their hardest working employees.

Talented people on every team - unfortunately, company operates in silos with thick walls and complete anonymity. Some on leadership feel and act as though they are entitled, are better than others and are allowed to do so with little to no regard for others feelings, feedback, suggestions for working together as one. CEO does nothing to create team feel among leadership. Culture(s) depend on which team/dept you're on.

KeyMe's work environment is pretty relaxed, especially if you work on weekends or any of the night shifts which are 1:30p-10p or 3:30p-12a. The job itself is easy since the work is very monotonous and repetitive. They start you off as a Temp-to-Perm for 3-4 months and you only get paid 13 per hour. Once you become a permanent employee, they raise you to $15 per hour. If you are a professional and highly motivated individual, there is opportunity for growth and promotions are encouraged within the company.

It's a startup company that needs a lot of work. The company doesn't even have a HR department! the way things are ran are terrible!!!! call center is very laid back it felt like a high school lunch room. The supervisors and team lead are only so once they left the place turns into a party. The CSR's stop working begin to hang out and don't answer calls. If you're the only one working then you'll be taking phone calls back to back while doing emails.
