I would say this is not the best job  I've work but also not the worst job I've worked. They are all about NUMBERS that part is the Job. If you make them they leave you alone and don't micro manage which is nice. But then again its all about the NUMBERS don't forget that. If you can not live in that environment then this is not the Job for you. If you want to level up (get promoted) or get their bonuses it is about the NUMBERS. If you have a bad month what happens? No one knows  because there is no employee book that tells you expectations just a manager that says it gets better and if you don't make the NUMBERS they will micro manage you from what I heard. No help on how to get their bonuses and the ones that make them must be great at this job. The only way it seems to make them is if you overwork your self. Maybe if you are great at typing and grammar that could help you so I would recommend this to someone that cant type at least 30-40 words per min and has stellar grammar. As far as grammar goes that one is tough and hope yours is better than mine. There is a don't ask don't tell policy about the amount of hours you work. They say they will fire you if you work over 40 hours but it seems almost impossible to do all that is required in a 40 hour work week if you are trying to make those NUMBERS or try from  being reopen. The company puts you out on an Island after you train (their training is ok but death by power point so bring coffee!) and they say they have fallow up training but one never seems to have time to get that training unless you put getting your numbers in the review mirror. They do have flex hours which can work to your advantage when you are not getting reopens. It is true they hound on your vacation with reopens so this job will consume you if you let it. You need a thick skin, be organize, have a good memory, a car that can take high millage and remember its just a job put the computer down and say "I will work on it later." If you don't they will over work you. There is no team environment or team work encouragement just empty thank you emails and lets work as a team. Making relationships is important with your reviewer but even then they still will reopen so that is where the thick skin comes in. The company only concentrates on the negative. if you can make Numbers, Make deadlines, do quick turnaround, transmit work every day, live in your car (they say its a job you can work from home HA! that makes me laugh) or learn to work remotely you can be successful here. But that all consumes you and the company dings you for every thing that is what i mean when I say they focus only on the negatives. They ding for every reopen, the longer it takes to turn a case around, not making deadlines and not transmitting. If you looking for work then apply it will help build your resume even with all the negatives. If you just looking for a Top Secret Clearance sure they will hire but I would self check if you in this for the right reason. If you like hunting for details and finishing your cases this is for you just need to shut out the noise they make about making numbers that gets annoying,  I would recommend this job but keep in mind I would recommend even though I will look for other opportunities. The negative stats focus of this company makes for a low moral and being left on an Island and seeming not to want to build a team environment is their, Keypoint, closed mindedness and they want you to believe everyone that complains on here is lazy.

PROS: Flexible schedules, meeting people and you are the boss of your interviews whether your interviewing a CEO or Junior Intern. Being free from an office so you can be outside enjoying the day not stuck in cubical. Using your mind and finishing cases.

Cons: Negative stats focused, not promoting team work, not have an office  to go to is Pro and Con because when you need a place to bounce ideas off you have only a phone to get help. promotions are not promotions their are levels you got level 1, 2, 3, etc. which come with more expectations of producing more numbers and maintaining numbers so you do not get demoted, THEY ARE ALL ABOUT THE NUMBERS.

I looked at the bad reviews before and said oh this can’t be bad.  Boy was I wrong! This company is a commission base when it comes to their investigators they will try to push you for bonuses and training another coworker the first  3 months into the job.  The training is ridiculous you will start off with a bad foundation from day one and they will just keep piling work on you till your drowning in cases.  Also, cause the training is so much thrown at you at one time they will have IA internal affairs look at your stuff and because of your not trained Properly from day one well they will get on to you for things you where told my a reviewer or the help team to do. SO DOCUMENT EVERYTHING!


The money you make is not worth it and you put wear and tear on your own car.  Also if you decided to work other contacts be aware that your training will be done all online and if you ask for someone on one training the tell you they can’t provide that. 

 I would not recommend this job yea you get to work from home but the job will consume you. This company plays Psychological warfare. They tell you they do know to want you to work overtime and anyone with good work ethic when some are wrong and get pointed out you want to fix your mistake.  You work 40 hours week some days you are in the field working at least 6 hours then you have to drive back home and when you get home it can take up to 3-4 hours to type up multiple cases. Sometimes you will have to work weekends to make sure you keep up. Now was that told to you when you signed the contract. NO!

Now we’re you told you to have to work 12 hour days in the beginning NO!  I would not recommend this job to anyone, the company will say they will pay for overtime but BEWARE that the overtime you work will be-be taken from your bonus if that ’s what your working for.  This job is will take what life you have and consume it.

Also, you have to produce some many units a week and more will be added to you as well also you have to fix REFILES that can be sent to you 4 months down the road. After you worked the case and turned your notes in.  Refiles will come in at 10 pm at night then on weekend and you only have 24 hours to fix them.

You will constantly have more work assigned to you than you transmit, you will be working way more than 40+hours each week. You can’t tell me you don’t have people that work for this company that work off the clock to keep up with the demand. And we all know you don’t work for free.  You be held to keep up key metics each month so just remember instead working with national security your a sales person to see how much work you can produce. Just remember that makes room for more mistakes when the company push quantity over quality. 

All management cares about is that you transmit more work and will call you several times a day to ask you about your cases even in the middle of interviews , even though you send them an update every morning. 

Also if your expecting to get a TS clearance with this company we’ll thats a lie the will just give you and  adjudicated from of a TS.  Also if company wants to charge you because you can’t keep up the workload or you quit well what are they hiding to have hold leverage on their worker like that. You need to stay a way from them. I say read all the reviews before saying yes.


Stay away from KeyPoint/Perspecta

As an investigator this job is horrible. Every day is groundhog day, you run around trying to track people down and ask the same 35 questions and correcting peopless laziness and inability to complete simple paperwork. This industry in general is horrible, the contract companies are only concerned about making money. I would not recommend.

The work load is completely unrealistic. The raises and the bonuses are a mystery. The company expects you to complete 60 hours of work in a 40 hour week, or they threaten to fire you or demote you.

The only good part of the job is that it is a job during a recession, and as long as you dont mind working a lot more than you get paid for, you will have job security. You also have the opportunity to get insurance through the company.

They promote the job as flexible..... It is somewhat felxible, as long as you dont mind working around other peoples schedules, getting stood up for interviews, and regularly staying up past midnight working to meet company deadlines.

They trick you by saying you get a company car, when in reality you have to pay for the car. Not much of a benefit.......... being forced to lease a car even if you already have a car.

Management has no reality of how things work in the real world, thus their expectations are completely absurd. Over the years, the company has gradulally become more micromanaging, probably as more employees have switched over from the competitors, the culture has definitely changed.

Dont plan on any job progression or future advancement. Once beyond the initial training, there is no additional training or development. Once again, your not really "investigating" anything.... so as long as you can ask the questions written on the paper, write a report, and make the company money that is all they care.

See other investigators in passing, dont have time to develop any relationships as every investigator is so stressed by the workload they dont have any time. Have never had any work sponsored activities with other employees. Only take this job if you like being alone and enjoy typing!!!!!!!

Training is intense but not realistic to the job. Be prepared to go through 6 weeks of training (2 weeks virtual, 2 weeks in Colorado, and 2 weeks of on the job) and come out still unsure of how to do the work. REFILES, REFILES, REFILES! Once you begin to submit reports, if they're lacking information, the case will be reopened and the reviewers will ask for additional information to be obtained. The problem is there is no consistency amongst Reviewers. Each Reviewer has a different preference and therefore the Investigator is never able to develop a consistent reporting standard. The pay is very low in comparison to the workload. The job of an Investigator is very stressful and requires long hours well beyond an 8 hour day. KeyPoint needs to revamp their training to be more aligned with the actual job of an Investigator. Also, this company is all about numbers. Your Field Managers will put major emphasis on turning in as much work as possible, in the shortest amount of time. There's never a moment where you feel "caught up". The Investigator always feels as if they're drowning in a sea of never ending work! There's really no work-life balance as this job consumes you from the minute you're out of training. At some point, you'll begin to dread even turning on your laptop. If you can hang in for the entire year, it's good not having to owe any money for the security clearance, which by the way, your clearance is never fully adjudicated. You have a "favorable" adjudication, but you're never granted a Top Secret Clearance. I cant honestly say who this job is best suited for, but if you're someone who works well under constant pressure and doesn't mind being overworked and underpaid, GO FOR IT!

Yes, you set your own schedule HOWEVER, if you want to 'supplement' your income, good luck.  I consider a supplement around $1000: during a 3-4 month NO-work slowdown was $0. Zero doesn't supplement anything.

Constant pressure from contract liaisons, mentors, and Loveland alike.  New investigators confused with differing guidance between help desk, liaison, and mentor.  There are many rules which are ambiguous and many rules that are not rules but rather guidelines.  Yes, mass confusion.

Seems like exactly what was said about USIS is occurring with Keypoint, and we know where that led.  Integrity of the investigation comes the methodical approach.  This is too slow for a company trying to pump out items for more $$$$.  

Full-timers do really get treated Poorly and are under constant pressure to send in more items that is required by their level. Then the company takes it's sweet time to promote them to the next level.  Watch out though if you are an upper level investigator and your stats have teetered a bit.  Company is quick to demote, and that means less pay. Oh and they don't always just demote from one level to the next; You can be demoted two levels.

Suggestions:  Look at the business model and remember how capitalism works.  Pay workers, treat them well, make them feel a part of the team and they will perform well; This all increases the company profits and output.   
To make them part of the team the company MUST make every worker, contractor or otherwise, feel as if they are part of the company and have a vested interest in it.  Short of the long; Make your workers happy and they make money for you.

Beware if you are looking at taking an Investigator position with this company.  Since they took on the additional work when USIS lost the contract they have not been able to effectively manage the contract, it is too much for them to handle.  They will send you formal communications to not work time and not claim it on your timesheet, but the field managers and regional managers apply so much pressure that you have to in order to get your work done and even then you cannot.  I decided to leave instead of giving them free hours.  Morale is at an all time low, this is not the same culture it was 2 years ago!!  You will receive threatening e-mails and calls to your team and to you personally to produce more completed cases (they have no interest in national security just getting cases out the door) or you will be written up or demoted, etc.  It never ends!  Everyone is looking to get out as quick as they can.  The metrics are out of line with the work you need to get done so there is no way to meet your expectations.  Promotions are non existent and there are no raises, in order to make more money you have to be promoted but those promotions do not exist anymore and even if they did, you won't be able to meet the expectations.  They do not care about the employees.  HR will tell you they want to hear your concerns - it is just lip service, do not trust them!!

This job is not for everyone so be ultra careful what you are signing up for.  I found the training quality to be good - however the training is not the job.  The training period (about 4 weeks) is tough but fair, but then the actual work starts and it is brutally stressful and tedious. If you do not like the basic tasks of the job (tedious interviews, driving around, writing tedious reports) then you will be miserable.  For some reason they do not ease you into the job, they give you a massive workload with short deadlines the moment after you end training.  You will be away from home for two weeks living in a hotel, then as soon as you return home (tired and jet-lagged) you will have a huge queue of work with *many* tasks due within days.  The only way to advance is to complete more and more work within a given time frame.  You will be liable for repaying training and background investigation costs if you leave before one year.  I found the pay to be a bit low for the work load and stress, but not terrible.  The management was fine.  This type of job is not for introverts - the constant interaction with people (including confronting them about embarrassing items in their past) is exhausting and unpleasant.  Finally, please be aware that you do *not* receive a security clearance with this job - you get a 'favorable adjudication' which is not the same thing.

There have been many frequent shifts in management and policies which have resulted in job shifting and structure changes company wide. When there is a high enough work load, investigators can work at the minimum level or choose to take on higher work and get promotions. You ONLY get a pay increase if you take a promotion - there are no yearly salary increases, etc. Bonuses have been paid late or not paid out at all for the past two years in theory due to loss of company profits (inability for the company to afford to reward employees). Full-time investigators are required to go TDY for 3 weeks at a time as needed - this could be multiple times a year, this could be a week notice that you are leaving, etc. which is not very convenient for those with families who need time to arrange child care or those who need pet sitters, etc. They recently added company cars for investigators but for those who turned the car down (you pay a monthly fee for the car), mileage reimbursement took a drastic hit and investigators do a lot of driving so if you're not driving a Smart Car, you're paying a fortune for gas.

KGS started out, in 2010, with the "work when you can if you are a contractor" offer and it was great..5 stars. It was great, especially if you weren't looking for a full time position due to family, etc. Fast forward to 2015. As it had been building slowly since 2014 contractors were suddenly not allowed to choose work and began having large amounts of work "assigned" to them and, told, if they kept refusing work they would not get any work assigned. The pay for contractors has not been increased since 2010 but the workload they are expected to do is full time status worthy. The other contracts they work you were also allowed to refuse work with a simple click. Now its assigned to you and you gave to do extra work to get rid of it. There is no one to support the contractors in terms of fighting for them. There is slim to no chance for advancement. Not paid for ANY training even if mandatory. Not paid for the constant logging in and out of various programs in order to jump through the hoops required to do even the most basic tasks. You spend much more time doing free stuff than getting paid. Some things will pay you about $2 an hour when you average it out.

Working from home and setting your own schedule is nice and the only thing great about the job. You are based on points per week which sounds easy but if you have people cancel or don't want to meet then you need to find those points somewhere else. Also if you take vacation or are sick and have to take time off, you are still accountable to make those points per week and are expected to meet those goals no matter what. Management is only concern about you making those points and that's it. You are just a number to them. 

Then there are reports that can get kicked back for many reasons and you have a different reviewer on all of the cases. So you may write it up one way and be fine and the other reviewer will disagree and kick it back for you to fix. So there is no consistency!! And with those you have to turn around in 24 hours which isn't always easy and still do the other work to get those points. Once you are done with training you will start running and are expected to make that work from day one. If you want to get in this business then I recommend you to look elsewhere and maybe even go to the Federal side of the house. Stay away from Keypoint at all cost!!!
