Ki-Mobility

Not the worst place to work especially if you're looking for entry level experience. The pay isn't terrible but do not expect raises or promotions even if you're putting in a ton of effort or are consistently above average by their own metrics. The day to day tasks get repetitive and boring quickly, even as somebody that isn't typically bothered by repetitive work. Genuinely the hardest part of the job is dealing with the companies management. Any complaint or issue brought up will be used against you or brushed off with a corporate response. I have unironically gotten "What's good for the company is good for the employee" and "You should take it as a compliment that your lead trusts you with those tasks" when bringing up pay and raises along with the increased responsibilities I was receiving. They're always looking for ways to squeeze as much work out of each individual without increasing compensation regardless of how much work is already being done. The co-workers are all nice and respectful, at least while I was here. I did learn a lot, about the wheelchair industry, customer service, time management etc. If you're entry level it's fine and you will get valuable experience. If you're looking to build a career or want a place that matches effort and work with pay increase you're much better off looking elsewhere. 

As a member of middle management, I was witness to some of the most adversarial behavior of the upper management team during cross-functional meetings. Constant shouting and tearing each other down. It was very uncomfortable for many but seemed to be the sport for the employees participating in that behavior. I was rarely given the opportunity to make decisions and was constantly ridiculed. If you have an opinion, this is not the place for you. There are very little processes in place and most are not followed and are constantly changing leaving you feeling lost. As a whole, the employees in middle management and below are spectacular and full of ambition and passion. Many employees have developed meaningful relationships and genuinely care about the industry and each other. Given the opportunity and proper training/mentorship, they have great potential.

I work the catalyst line.  We do parts orders usually first thing in the morning. My main task is drilling and cutting material and sending the parts down the assembly line. I do help others in our section when needed and when I have time. The assembly line consists of about 20 people or so and our task is to try to keep the order total at a 3 day lead time. Usually about an average of 70-100 chairs each day are built on the line. I also check parts for detailed chairs when they are delivered to us. We have three people working section of the line. We normally work 8 hour days 6-2:30, occasionally some overtime which adds an hour a day, and a few Saturdays per year, all with two 15 minute paid breaks and a 30 minute unpaid lunch. Benefits are many. Available benefits options are, health, dental, vision, 401K with company match, short term and long term disability.
When COVID is gone, we will likely have the summer picnics again, Christmas dinner, Thanksgiving lunch, and occasional catered in lunches for a small fee out of your paycheck. We are treated pretty well in my opinion at KI Mobility.

A typical day is getting to work and working on quotes, orders, inquiries the whole day. It’s very simple and easy work but some manage to still be bad at their job. 

I’ve learned a lot for office experience, but there is a ceiling for how far you can advance within this company. Start with data entry, next to quoting and then you’re stuck on phones which the only benefit of being on phones is you have the best team lead.

Management is pretty terrible with the exception of the phones lead. 

Hardest part of the job is staying awake because of the repetition of the tasks you are doing.

Most enjoyable would be a few co-workers you connect with. However, like every job there’s a lot of people who are just annoying.

The customer service director has no respect for anyone beneath them. They treat employees who have been here for years like dirt. They are even delusional enough that they think if someone quits to go someplace else that they will come back to work here.

Trying to get a good raise is harder than pulling teeth.

I enjoy my job at Ki Mobility. It is a very fast paced, ever-changing environment with lots of growth but I am a high energy person.  Because the company is still very young and growing quickly, there are situations where no clear cut procedure exists and that can be frustrating. That is the hardest part of the job. One of the best parts of the job is although I have not been at the company long, I have no small degree of autonomy compared to previous jobs and management puts a great deal of trust in me. I am allowed to be honest and heard when I have concerns about company projects even if ultimately the business decides to proceed in a different direction.  Most people that work here care very deeply about the business and also feel empowered to be heard. This can appear to be an intense environment but at the end of the day everyone is part of the Ki family. The intensity is what makes us successful. I enjoy all of my coworkers immensely. If you are ambitious, diligent, and hard-working you will enjoy working here and have plenty of opportunities to move up.

Favortism is a huge thing here. There’s people who shouldn’t even be there anymore but because of favortism, they still are. There’s people who deserve to get promoted, better pay, etc.. but because of favortism, they don’t. Managers are useless and HR’s don’t do their job right. There’s a reason why there’s always a “Hiring” sign. Until they actually value and take care of their employees, especially those who go out of their way and actually work and care about the products, this place (and the products) will not get any better. Customer receiving bad chairs latley? Well yeah, the Products are only as good as the ones who builds them. So careful who you promote, keep, or let go. Don’t expect to get a better pay by doing and learning more. They DON’T CARE. Work hard, learn multiple areas, help others, etc… doesnt matter, you’ll get same pay and treatment as those who don’t do much or do anything. Starting pay is very low and raises aren’t that great. 

I had about 2 hours of training by my supervisor.  Basically if I had a question, I had to ask a coworker who had been there longer and was making less than me. The coworker should be a lead worker and paid as one. My supervisor snubbed me and made me feel unwelcome. I basically taught myself how to do my job. 

It is a growing company that has a lot to learn.  If you have something personal going on, watch out.  No vacation until 6 months then 1 week. Benefits are bad.  Insurance has a $3000.00 deductible.  

Company owners and supervisors have favorites and they get raises and promotions.  Nepotism runs deep which seems to normal for a privately owned business. Do not count on getting promoted. They have good employees who are way under valued. 

To the owner - Stevens Point is a tight knit community.  Remember you are only as good as your workers.  You do not want to get a bad reputation as being a poor place to work and it looks like that is happening.

I am very proud to work for Ki Mobility and believe that our products truly change people's lives and that makes me feel good every day.  I get to talk to end users occasionally and help them with whatever needs they may have which they are truly grateful for.  I have learned so much more than I ever thought was possible about wheelchairs and what it takes to make a chair.  This job is not the easiest one as it does take skill and knowledge but it is well worth it and so rewarding in the end.  The hardest part of the job is not always knowing or understanding what is happening in production or what may be delaying an order and knowing best how to relay that information.  The best part of the job is knowing that my job helps the overall satisfaction of an end user and makes a huge difference in their lives by providing them independent mobility.

Working at Ki is fine, if you don't want to advance your career yhere. I worked for a few years without realizing how bad the management was. After some time, and a promotion, I learned that the upper management doesn't actually care about what issues your department has. They also delve too deep into your personal, out-of-work life, and use it against you in the workplace. They don't care about your safety getting to and from work, either. If you don't care about advancing, you can be pretty happy there, but the issues you deal with on a daily basis don't get addressed and will eventually drive you mad.

I worked there for five weeks training two weeks I was on the floor for three weeks got fired because I was told my work expectations didn’t meet what they wanted to remind you I was never told I was doing anything wrong never had a meeting never had a written warning or anything that I wasn’t doing anything right I was literally on the floor for three weeks that is it with no help management is awful they do not help you at all manager does not care about you or your life or anything HR could care less either didn’t even get offered a different position or training or anything they just said you’re done and walked me out I’ve never felt So beat down by a company all I can say is do not work here it is awful management and HR is absolutely terrible
