I have worked for KCHH for over 4 years and have truly loved this company. My clinical manager/boss is amazing and I work very closely with the other therapists in my area so even though I am mostly on my own, I feel that there is a great community at this company. 

I started as a new graduate and had a mentor assigned to me to help guide me through everything which was so helpful. As a new grad, I was able to start on salary until I built up my caseload to full time which was really great!

There is great opportunity for career growth with KCHH. I was given the opportunity to be a clinical instructor early on in my career and have worked with many students since, I supervise an assistant and have been promoted since working here. 

I feel that the benefits are great too. I drive a company car 100% of the time and have saved so much money by doing that but if you choose not to have a company car, you get mileage reimbursement each month based on how many visits you see on average. We get up to $500 per year to use toward professional development which can be used for CEU courses, toys for sessions, license renewals, etc! There are also other ways you can earn bonuses such as referring an employee or seeing more visits a week than required for full time status. 

The flexibility of this job is another amazing thing about our company. Each therapist makes their own schedule which is really nice. Since we are paid per visit, when we are not in a home, we are not on the clock. Being paid per visit can be frustrating at times if you have last minute cancellations so that is definitely a con but there have been times where I have been able to run a personal errand before my next patient which is really nice. I am always able to make up that cancelled visit later so pay check wise, it ends up evening out. 

For cons, I have heard that our visit rate is not as high as some of our competitors but I feel that the benefits and flexibility more than make up for that. I truly have no major negatives about this company and hope to have a long career here! 

I have worked in healthcare for more than a decade and have found that I have most enjoyed working for KidsCare Home Health. The company is growing,so there are new opportunities all the time for career growth and challenges. In my time here many benefits have been added, including increase in PTO, raises, improved health benefits, and professional development funds. They have lots of processes in place to keep therapists in the field busy, and because they are run by a therapist, I always know that ethics is a huge priority. They have made very reasonable accomodations for employees during the pandemic and have always made me feel supported during the uncertain times. I LOVE working here. 

Overall, I enjoyed that the company was supportive when you needed it, yet allowed you your independence. However, I had a bad experience with them while transferring to another location. I gave them 3 months notice of my transfer and was told I should have a decent caseload upon my transfer. During those 3 months, they had hired another SLP and gave her all of the patients I was suppose to have. They were only able to provide me with about 3 patient in 3 completely different towns/cities (some 45 mins away). I do not feel they should just be absent mindedly hiring people and allowing people to transfer without at least some type of caseload guaranteed to the workers. I felt like I was constantly battling other workers for referrals and ultimately ended up quitting because I couldn't get a decent caseload. It put me in a bad financial situation.

I worked for this company for two years- part time to full time. The clinical managers were professional and usually available when you needed them. The biggest issue was the pay structure. If a parent canceled a session, there was no compensation for the therapist and parents canceled often. Imagine around the holidays, when people are taking vacations or just spending time with family and aren’t available; you’re paycheck takes a hit. Pay was constantly inconsistent due to cancellations or no shows. Also, you were competing with other therapist in your discipline for patients, making it hard to establish a full caseload.  I liked the company, but just couldn’t make the money I needed.

Home Health was the only place hiring during 2020 due to COVID and as a newly graduate I was nervous to start with a home health agency. However Kidscare was a great place, management took care of me, they had tools and resources, provided me a mentor who guided me and answered any questions that I had. I loved the flexibility in scheduling. A lot of agencies may promise you patients and not fulfill that promise, Kidscare was not that case. They started me off slow but I was able to pick up a full caseload. The only cons for me was being on the road a lot can be lonely, having to do notes in your car during breaks and getting cancelled sometime after you've arrived. Overall I enjoyed my 2 years of working here and met amazing families. 

I have enjoyed working for KidsCare and would highly recommend this company to other therapists. You have a flexible schedule and can choose the caseload size you want. As a full time therapist you receive benefits and can qualify for a company car. All of the clinical managers are supportive, kind, and helpful. KidsCare also offers opportunities to grow and learn in your field as they provide CEUs, webinars, and opportunities to shadow other therapists to gain new clinical skills. 

I’ve worked for many pediatric home health agencies. I rank KidsCare as one of the very best. Even though I’ve only met my direct supervisor in person, I feel that the office staff know who I am and are concerned if I have any needs or questions. No one has ever talked down to me or been unprofessional. I have had some very different experiences with agencies in the past! 
Also, they have been willing to work with me and the family I work for concerning my schedule. This is very important to me. 
I hope to be with KidsCare for a long time, and I do highly recommend this company.

I worked as a PRN therapist at Kids Care for a few months. Because I was PRN I did get a slightly higher rate, but I found it increasingly difficult to keep a decent number of sessions per week. Cancellations were bad, but Kids Care is good about dismissing clients that cancel more than 2 times without reason. At the end of the day, it’s just hard to work a job where you rely on people not to cancel to make money. Kids Care itself was a great company. If I were a full time employee for this company I would almost recommend getting more clients than normal to have room for cancellations, that way it doesn’t hurt the pay drastically if you do get quite a few cancellations in a week. 

As the Austin market is new for KidsCare Therapy, the availability of clients is still limited. Making a full time work schedule is next to impossible as most client availability is in the evening, after school hours. KCT pays based on treatment number, and so with a low caseload and very little opportunity to reach even the treatment session number for part-time status that will provide health benefits and other securities, it isn't a sustainable position for most therapists. Not for me at least, bills have to be payed and unfortunately this company and this service model just isn't able to provide me what I need to cover even basic needs.

It's a supportive company that gives therapists flexibility to manage they're own schedules.  Main office is prompt to follow up with concerns or admin tasks. Less communication with admin in recent year, in part due to COVID. Felt less supported to advance professionally when communication dwindled. Would work here again.
