New hires are forced to get on board in a fast way and the employees are sour and not willing to give on the job training when you are paired with them. They complain and state they all want to leave.  The employees run off the new hires and there is unfounded and gossip that goes to the top of the ladder.  In orientation I was pulled into HR by my supervisor with out a word to me as to why. Turned out it was gossip and unfounded lies by staff. Very unwelcoming and treacherous.  Staff argues with new hires and calls the supervisor on them if they don't understand or have questions. Expected to learn the ropes in less than time expectancy or was told i'd be fired by a supervisor whom was not qualified and 1/2 my age. Texted by my supervisor on my lunch break to come back to work when it was not even over and then in the text reminded that it was only 30 minutes!! Talked to like an imbeceile.  When coming into work the compliance officer was speaking to a staff member and when I spoke to a coworker she called me aside and stated that i was having a lengthy conversation after 5 mins and said i was speaking inappropriately to my coworker which was not true.  So she was just nosey and rude as though she could take time to speak but no one else could meet and greet when coming in the door.  Very uncomfortable enviornment and petty place to work. Heated angry people. You can't just do your job without a person wanting to broad side you in some way or another. Too much politics and very messy.  I have heard people state that they would come into the office to see another employee if the supervisors aren't around because of the clicks that transpire.  No one smiles there either.  They would love to fire people and the posts on Indeed are true! I wouldn't of believed them if I had not experienced them for myself and had other new hires with me who I witnessed be treated unfairly and unjustly. The Place is a total disorganized MENACE and I don't mean the Patients either!!!!  If you are a Nurse your working under those who aren't and that spells chaos.....and your license.

Kingwood Pines would admit a stray dog if if had health insurance they could abuse. Intake staff exaggerate clinical descriptions to meet insurance criteria for an admission. If you have come for an assessment, be ready to be put on an involuntary hold - remember, you  have insurance money this corporate tentacle and their stakeholders need.
Staff are poorly educated, speak and behave unprofessionally and you  are lucky if you  get a nurse that speaks English or that will make eye contact with a patient. 
Treatment plans are a joke - there is no 1:1 counseling, groups are huge and therapists are bullied into manipulating their duties to just get the paperwork done. Patients do NOT get the services promised. 
Information does not get to the employees it should, constant changes to workflows made by people who barely speak to employees. 
You  are forced to use PTO when the census is low.
Stupid inexperienced Interns are used instead of licensed therapists and given NO SUPERVISION.
Money is the bottom line!!
Want to  sign a 4-hour letter to  be discharged?  Be ready to  be threatened by some Indian doctor that you will not only be kept as involuntary,  but you  will be kept longer to punish you for speaking up. No American MD or Nurse will work for this hospital.
Interview with them and they joke about you privately and will not call you back on the status of your interview or have the professionalism to send a follow up letter. If you are not capable of corruption, they can't use you.
Ugly and rundown, no respect for the customers.
This corporation runs hospitals - they have several psych hospitals in and around Houston. They are exactly the same.

KPH was probably the worst place I've ever worked, and somehow I managed to last 5 years there. I guess the patients kept me from leaving, my love for them was grand. My coworkers (the few I enjoyed) were cool. But administration was a mess, they were never around and only appeared when corporate or joint commission came around, it was filthy at the end because they decided to outsource their housekeeping to some immigrants women didn't really care and spent the entire time gossiping (the cleaning staff they had before was immaculate) 
The supervisor staff was just as bad(before they disbanded it cause now they have a CNO and her "assistant" who sucks just as bad), they were always understaffed and they always try and con people into working when they're off,  I saw a guy work 24+ hours once, and they didn't bat an eye, their are a select group of people who would work doubles every day (mom-fri, except payday Friday) and be too burnt out to work weekends so they had to somehow function without anyone (they once had he entire kitchen staff go work the units cause that's how desperate they were)
They constantly have a bed bug issue 
None of the vital machines work
they're constantly under supplied 
And the entire place runs on broken promises and "upcoming advancements" that never occur

I can go for days on how bad this place is
Do yourself a favor and go apply somewhere where they'll value like a human being.

This is the worse place I have ever worked as a nurse.  This is a for profit company who are under federal investigation for many charges. If you value your loved one at all, do not take them here.  The doctors don't care about the patients, many nurses are great but they are over worked to the point of having no time for patients.  The place is dirty, disorganized, and often times, there are not enough supplies to get the job done.  The food is high in fat and sugar. The facility's main focus is  collecting as much as they can from insurance.  Everyone who comes here, has insurance, they do not take a patient if they lack insurance.  They keep the patients until the day coverage runs out, and then kick them out even if they are not ready.  They lie to the patient to get them in the door, lock the doors and then file with the county attorney, if the patient puts up a fight to leave.  If you have a mental health emergency, by all means, seek immediate help, but do not come to this facility if you want help.  They will suck your insurance dry and then kick you to the curb.

The pay is the lowest I have every had, chronically understaffed and over worked.  Someone files "safe harbor" at least once a week. They will make you do M.A.R. reconciliation on up to 38 patients in the evening, as well as give the patient's their medications, do q15 minute rounds and chart. Yes you can get overtime, but at what a price.  If you value your hard earned license, it's not worth it.   
The management is incompetent, all they care about is the bottom line - money, and they do anything to cut corners.
The place is filthy; they run around like crazy trying to clean up the mess prior to a JACHO inspection.
They have an orientation class monthly of about 30 new hires, but most candidates don't stay past their first or second shift.
I could write a novel, but it has all been put in other posts, which are true.
Bottom line - working here is a decision, you will regret.

Dont trust the safety of your loved ones at this place. I had a drug problem 32 years ago.  Went to college educated myself.  Applied for a job.  HR and  CEO were aware of my past as I have always been honest.  Went through 3 interviews.  Two days before Orientation was to start I was called to HR.  I was laughed at and judged.  They threw the paperwork in my face from 32 years ago and laughed at my poor choices.  They hammered me with questions for over 45 minutes.  I told them I was no longer that person. I was honest from the start.  How can Kingwood Pines claim to help people with drug and mental health issues when they laugh at people whom have overcome their addictions, obtained a 4 year degree, worked at other hospitals and have excellent references?  These people literally laughed at me all the way down the hall as they escorted me to the door.

A typical day at work as a mental health technician was usually performed nearly alone with upwards of 10-15 patients. You would take these patients between care visits, activities, and eating. There is a lot demanded of you as a Technician. You will be praised by your attending nurse and some will assist. For the most part be ready to be self-autonomous in this position and willing to make hard choices to mitigate issues. There will be occasions that on a whim you have to decide what is the least disastrous consequence of your choices. 

If you choose to work for this company they will likely hire you and let you get your foot in the door of this field. It will not be a pleasant experience though.

Did not feel safe due to patients being aggressive and little tech/ nurse presence. Groups were difficult to hold due to little help from staff and disruptive clients. Little training for social workers to provide groups, and little training for doing assessments and discharge planning. Hospital kept shuffling patients around from unit to unit due to financial reasons and this was disruptive to milieu. Doctors did not seem to listen to patients, and one doctor would deliberately upset patients to make them show symptoms and extend their stay. 

Admissions/intake manager during 2017 had a history of firing people. Played favorites with hours. Worst piece, she was friends with the head HR person so her unprofessional behavior was tolerated. I quit. However, this manager attempted to fire me on the spot when I questioned my schedule. She did this over the phone... She was drunk with power or something. Maybe just drunk. Mental health can be a difficult environment to work in. I have worked in this area for 10+ years. 3 years as a RN. My position was busy, somewhat stressful at times, but doable. It was a good position with good pay. The manager was just extremely unprofessional and got away with stuff because she was friends with HR. I wouldn't recommend working there unless a overhaul of staff.

Reviews of KPH BEFORE mid July 2019 are right on the money. Shady and financially driven CEO bullied department managers and staff into doing things no ethical or caring person would do. Amazing nurses, therapist, techs and even a CNO were fired for speaking up and advocating for the patients. 
Finally ( after almost 3 years! ) corporate
realized why staff retention was so horrible.... the CEO. 
The day they walked this person out the door you could FEEL a change in the culture.  We now have leadership that values and supports the staff. KPH might not be a 5 yet but it will be. Very very soon !!!
