LMC instills a great culture of work ethic and service excellence.  Employees are overall very cordial and friendly.  I loved the variety of employees from different backgrounds and the varied, challenging patient population and workload.  However, the actual work environment was very distinct.  Top management is very charismatic, but they still have the "old boys network" in place and the "compradismo" system is still in full operation.  The infrastructure of the facility is meagerly maintained, all departments are poorly staffed and all the equipment is in very poor condition, including rest-rooms.  Everything is about the patient post-care "ratings" with minimal resources in place.  The facility is operated with minimal resources and employees are essentially expected to make great things happen with a heavy work load as a consequence of the very long length of patient stay. In my department I even had to bring in my own office supplies because my supervisor did not want to provide any additional supplies other than pens and writing pads.  Some supervisors, including mine, had a very demeaning management style, suppressive and yelled at all employees who did not offer reverence and praise, like our President.

In many cases healthcare is taxing work and those that accept its challenges are largely unrewarded. A 12$ hourly pay is rather insignificant compared to the work load and one could in theory earn more waiting tables. I could give that review, but information can be found on any job sight or blog complaining about the nature of the profession. The various departments would be put to capacity on a regular occasion therefore putting a large burden on the pharmacy. I rarely had moments to breath. Without a certification in sterile compounding, I was hired purely to stock floors with their respective medications. This helped to foster an intimate relationship between bagged ice and my sore calves. But that is not to detract from the positives. My coworkers were easily the best part of the job. They almost always had a positive attitude and were always watching out for one another. The pharmacists and technicians would check to see if workloads were manageable  and spirits were high. I could have always used more pay, but I would not have given up my staff.

LMC will only care for 1 thing and that is numbers. Forget everything else. The building is falling apart, units are short staffed, there’s lack of equipment, no supplies, and so much favoritism. This hospital will higher just anyone with or without certification. You can be housekeeping one day and become a CNA without education or experience and receive the same pay as someone who’s been there for 10+ years. BUT As long as we keep bringing in the patient’s satisfaction rate up the higher ups are good and that’s all that matters to them. The pay is not that great. Every year they give bonuses  by cents. Not even .10c. CNAs are the most unappreciated title in this hospital. Always being floated to different units, always being  at risks with combative patients, and worst part of it all they forget about CNAs. No appreciation. The best thing about this job is the amount of patients who we meet and change their lives. That’s all.

In order to graduate I had to do 120 hours of my internship.  I ended up putting in 200 hrs. for the internship.  My work day consisted of shadowing the bio medical technicians.  Perform preventive maintenance on the equipment with the help of the bio medical technician.  The equipment I preformed preventive maintenance on were IV pumps, defibrillators, Nurse call system, troubleshooting, and fixed several pillow speakers, patient stations.  Prevent maintenance on infusion pumps, hospital beds, Preformed safety checks on surgical monitor and camera towers from the operating room.  I did not get paid for this job since it was an internship.  

Do you like minimal training and heavy work loads? Do you like stress to the max and zero support from management? Does showing up to work only to realize the rest of the unit called out sick sound like fun to you? Then this is the place for you! Poor management, no support, zero communication, chaotic staffing scenarios, constant floating with minimal to zero training, and absolutely zero repercussions for constant staff call outs. So if you like to call out every other week without fear of losing your job this is the place for you. Pay and benefits are laughable. There’s a reason they are offering such high sign on bonuses. It’s a trap. 

Upper management encourages clocking out from work but staying in hospital to finish documentation hence working for free

High turnover rate in hospital due to highly unsafe staffing levels ex in telemetry floor 9 patient to 1 nurse or 1 cna or 36 patients

Therefore high incidence of falls and complaints very poor quality of care

No lunch at times and is still deducted

Administration is unconcerned with safety issues but ravenous about cost cutting measures and profiteering at expense of employees and patients

Overall badly managed, no respect from admin, run away from this organization

AMAZING ENVIRONMENT TO WORK IN! I have been here for few years and already received 2 promotions. LMC has MANY doors opens where you can grow and even make a long-term career out of. The only issue here is the pay. They start you at minimum wage and you maybe able to get that increased with promotions but the amount of work and the amount of pay is not equal. If you compare your salary to other city hospital's you will notice the low pay they give here.

I have worked for LMC for long while and thank my former co-workers for the help an they are friendly, funny, and they were like family to me. I really miss them and I'm glad to have worked with Case Managers, PrepNHold Staff , Bed Control, Doctors, Nurses, Telemetry, RT's, PT's,OT's, most of the CNA's.. Mostly all of each department became like family.  THANK YOU ALL FOR MAKING ME FEEL WELCOMED and FAREWELL TO ALL..

At first I thought my pay rate was going to be okay considering I have my CNA certificate and I have work experience relating the field but not even close employees at retail probably make more... And not to mention that the patients ratio is ridiculous four nurses for 25 patients and one CNA, some nurses don’t care an call you for everything yet they expect you to do everything when is only one of you.
