What is the best part of working at the company?
They're open to new ideas and encourage discussion on ways of making the work environment a better place. Their Nutley, New Jersey office building is very impressive inside and out. It's state of the art all throughout the inside. Also, they have a massive lunchroom with so many food options. Their coffee bar on the top floor offers a spectacular view of New York City and the surrounding area.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
A couple of nitwits on the 6th floor with one in particular who is a control freak, but just ignore him.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
An 80 year old Japanese firm who accepts every race, creed and color. Encourages open discussion to new ideas.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
An informal, easy going work environment. I was a Sr PM contractor, brought on to help bring about new products, vendors and business processes. All of my efforts were deemed successful by Eisai management.

Like the title implies, I would never recommend working here to anyone who value their career and well-being. I mention career because you will never advance at this place if you're not liked by management which is based only on hypocrisy and personal preferences. They will have you work day and night and regardless of how much work you do, you get "meets expectations" for your annual evaluation and when you ask why, they'll say because of budget issues haha. There is no career progression whatsoever and leadership only cares about those in leadership and will only support each other. I mention well-being because there is no such thing as a work-life balance, put that next to not being valued or appreciated and you have a recipe for anxiety and high levels of stress and issues at home. That's what you get from Eisai. To me, being at a workplace means two things, money and learning new things everyday, you will not get neither at Eisai. 

This organization does not have a great reputation in the industry or with the medical community. The leadership is unprofessional and hierarchical. They do not appreciate honest feedback and will not act on suggestions to improve processes. The dysfunction internally is pervasive and creates inefficiencies. Overall, the lack of relevant experience and the ego driven management has led to the collapse of what was once a good company culture. This is a very top heavy organization. If you join in a director level position, don’t expect to be a true director. Every title is bloated here and you will be expected to comply with your marching orders without question. Things will not and cannot change here and it’s best you understand that before accepting an opportunity at this company.

A typical day at work for me is to go where my business is and generate more.   Where I do not have business, I try to capture business by excellent communication, building strong relationships and being a credible resource.   
Management at Eisai is fair.   I do not feel Im in a stable position with Eisai due to inadequate pipeline.
My team members are awesome.   We all help each other and work very well as a team.
The hardest part of the job is access to the right customers.
The most enjoyable part of the job is the rewarding feeling of helping children and adults with severe epilepsy.

During eleven years with Eisai, my role changed a few times.  I sold to a variety of specialists and territories.  Like many other companies I had a series of good managers who were each different but each dedicated to the company and the sales reps they led.  The hardest part of the job was maintaining focus on customer needs while complying with increasing company needs for more reports and information due to changes within the medical and pharmaceutical industries.  I enjoyed my colleagues and many clients and staff. I loved learning new things and being challenged.

Communicate with diverse clients in negotiating terms of sales to ensure long-lasting and profitable relationships. Utilize client and colleague referrals, business directories, and participation in conferences to identify prospective customers and penetrate new markets. Deliver detailed presentations and sales proposals highlighting product functions and specifications. Assess and evaluate client needs to drive target sales initiatives.  Identified by Sales Training to execute new Clinical Training Modules initiatives nation wide.

I have been very fortunate to work with a team of 18 people in the DMPK Department, assisting the Executive Director, and training the team members in the mandatory Eisai Writing Style Guidelines and electronic documentation management system.  I also have been responsible for maintaining the archive area for GLP reports and respective documentation data.  These duties have been the most enjoyable part of my job.  My colleagues have been very motivated and maintain a very high work ethic, making our work days very productive.

As Manager of Indirect Procurement at Eisai Inc., I oversee and manage the procurement process covering all of the company’s commercial brands, facility services, and IT products for its Woodcliff Lake headquarters.

Leveraging 18 years of direct and indirect procurement management experience within the pharmaceutical sector, I serve as the lead negotiator tasked with achieving cost savings goals with value added incentives across various categories. I support the Eisai commercial brands in three therapeutic areas, Epilepsy, Oncology and Primary Care.

Production/performance driven work environment.  Management is attentive and easily accessible.  Best part of job is interacting with Doctors, office staff, and patients.  Worst is extensive traveling and uncertainty in job security.  The company seems to go through restructuring initiatives almost every 6 months.

Promoting people into leadership roles that do not have leadership qualities or skills.
