I left an extremely stressful job for a contracted job at this hospital. Overall, it was a good place to recoup for a little while from what I had endured for years prior, so that causes the hospital to not seem so bad to me in hindsight. However, I sensed very early on a strange culture in that building/location. It had a very high school-ish feeling. I was there almost a year, and it was very difficult establishing any kind of a coworker relationship with anyone. You're in a building with like 1000 workers and you feel alone, it was really weird. Also, some staff members act awful cocky for a hospital that gets such a low rating by patients and patient family members; and has such a bad reputation for making malpractice mistakes. The pay is a joke, and if you're contracted, well good luck paying your bills long-term. I wound up getting a better job and leaving. Temps are actually a large portion of their staff-body, but get treated probably worse than anyone, sadly causing them to not stay long. The neighboring LCMA building has some employees there that tattle on you and boss everyone like they are someone with power, but they're not.

Masks were still required on all locations there and walking up and down the hall with a mask was horrible, I got dizzy a lot, and my glasses stayed fogged up all the time. Breathing your own co2 finally will take its toll on you. By the time I left, the mandate was being pushed so I was ready to leave, and I learned as I was leaving, they were short over 100 RNs, which would have only gotten worse with the mandate. It got so bad, the governor had to send in the national guard just to fill in as EVS custodians and get the building cleaned. It's obvious the culture of that building and bad pay, combined with the mandate and forced masks was all people could take, so many began fleeing for greener pastures. This will not change until pay rates are raised to a comparable level. They keep losing employees to competitors that pay better and have a better environment. The hospital is a monopoly in the area and that makes things worse. My department bosses were okay, the top guy is likable and laid back. Second in command was always helpful when asked a question but seemed stressed out and high-strung for some reason. It's not a bad place to work in the short term, but I couldn't imagine staying there long-term. 

This place wouldn't be that bad if management wasn't constantly taking every opportunity to slap you in the face. For example...they have free food, but plan it to be given away right during med pass for 2nd shift. Management can't be bothered to use some of their own time to hand out the free food to those who don't work day shift.
Nurses have been quitting and transferring out of units that are poorly managed, but nobody will look at why those nurses are transferring, they only seek to blame those nurses saying they don't want to work. No issues are ever addressed until it becomes a huge problem, and even then, the decisions made by management don't help the nurses, they only help management by pushing extra work onto nurses.
Patients who continually fall getting out of bed are not given sitters on some units because those units are under the rules of a nursing home, and aren't supposed to have patients that are unable to get out of bed without falling down. The hospital just puts them on those units to squeeze more money from medicare and will not allow sitters to keep them from falling because medicare would wonder why they were even allowed to stay on those units.
Morale is low low low. Nobody will address nurses issues. No bonuses are given except to managers. Some people are allowed to not follow the rules while others are written up for the same rules being broken.

I've worked at lcrh for 10 years as a nurse. I dread coming to work. I worked without an assistant for nearly a year because they didn't care even though staffing required us to have an assistant. Even through that, I stuck with it due to promises that things would get better, but I should have known better. Now they're worse. Getting my hours cut by 20 hours so they can hire new nurses to cut out extra hours. If you like a place that never misses a chance to kick you in the groin, this is the place for you. 

Always understaffed and overworked. You can rarely get the help you need. Get pulled to every floor with no extra pay. No raises except for managemt. Doctors could care less about anything. Had a meeting once after a nice lady passed away and keep in mind she came in with a broken arm and was healthy. She got an infection and the doctors wouldn’t listen to the nurses. The woman died. For that we had a meeting for how ya as nurses have to make the doctors do their jobs. I have many more horror stories. Also we are UNDERPAID for what all they expect from us. I was so depressed I had to leave finally after 2 1/2 years. management  sucks. I could go on and on. 

I really enjoyed, working on the CVU. A typical day was very fast paced and usually at least 14 hours each shift. This is the only hospital, I have ever worked for, where, the nurse does 100% of patient care, we were not allowed to have CNA, CMA, or LPNs, to take the work load off of the RN. I became very uncomfortable, working under these circumstances. Not only did I feel that patient care suffer, but the work load was, in my opinion dangerous for patients, because of the fatigue of their nurses. Had we had some help on the unit, I would have loved this position and not left.

Do not expect to be appreciated. You will be replaced with a quickness. Hospital Administration is busily selling off as many departments to  3rd party providers so they can to increase their bonus. The average employee loses PTO, sick pay insurance and most of their benefits so that the hospital can make more money. The patient care is sub par. When the employer doesn't respect or care for the employees, the employees have no motivation to serve the patient. 
Working answering phones scheduling patients talking with families in need unable to help them because pointing fingers.

This is the job for you if you like to get severely underpaid and treated like trash. They take 30 minutes out of your check a day when you don’t even get to eat lunch. Oh and make sure you’re sick enough to use your sick time. You have to use 3-5 days of PTO before you can even think about using your sick time. If you went to college and genuinely have a passion for healthcare find somewhere else to work. Management is absolutely awful. There’s no communication between managers and employees. They’ll make you do the job of 6 people for barely over minimum wage. Good riddance

What is the best part of working at the company?
The people are really friendly and dedicated to the patients.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Having to work without CNAs if they determine the census is low.  They only count bodies, not acquity.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Typical of most hospitals. Some days are great, others, not so much. The culture is well intended, but it is a for profit hospital and the bottom dollar will always be yge priority.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy but mostly enjoyable. I like my job.

I work on a floor where we primarily care for patient's that have or will have surgery on their spine, brain, back, or neck. We perform day to day nursing care, collaborate with the physicians, therapist, and other healthcare team members to ensure our patient's receive the highest level of care possible. We are also a stroke certified center and take care of patient's who are diagnosed with a stroke from the time of entrance until discharge. The hardest part of my job is the long hours it requires us to work. I love getting to know my patients and care for them and I enjoy the company of my coworkers,

No pay raises for the past 4 years, except for management personal. The company that owns LCRH, Lifepoint, is all about profit. The management aims to plz the board(or they'll be fired). They don't care about employees or patients...or even doctors. The cost of exams are some of the highest around, not affordable for patients. Benefits are horrible, no employee discounts. No job security,ex) been there 18 years, broke your leg, they will find a way to get rid of you by the time you finish rehab. I've seen it happen to a handful of people.
