LA was a good initial stepping stone in the world of aesthetics if you're willing to hustle and sacrifice quality and ethics. They will provide you all your patients and you do not need to find leads for yourself. The pay is nice, which keeps people longer than they should stay here. One of the perks staff is told upon hire is that they can receive 30 minutes of free treatment per month. What is not told is that clinicians will be the first one removed from the schedule. It is convenient how Sales staff always receive their treatments though. The training is fast paced, but definitely not enough to feel competent at any of the skills. As an injector, you will have less than 8 patients to train you on how to perform fillers for multiple areas of the face in a single training day. There is limited feedback too, due to working alone the greater majority of the days. The majority of staff that work here have never had a background in aesthetics, so this is completely new to them. The schedule is a complete nightmare with zero protection and support for medical staff. This company values money over any of their staff or their patients. There are policies and guidelines for how to schedule patients, but within the last year, those policies are obsolete with sales staff adding patients wherever on the schedule, regardless if there is actually time to complete the treatment. Medical staff are guilt tripped into trying to have them stay late and accommodate patients, that were incorrectly booked in the first place. Our lunch is supposed to be uninterrupted, but that rarely happens. Our one 30 minute break is filled with charting, stocking rooms, and answering questions from sales staff. The patients will spend thousands of dollars to receive a treatment, but be told day of that their appointment was cancelled due to a nurse call out. Rarely are the nurses calling out, but in actuality the sales staff are trying to squeeze in a new sale. I have heard administrative level sales staff say on multiple occasions "Triple, triple, triple book the schedule. I want it to look crazy in here". Patients are fed up and irritated because they are led to believe medical staff is behind, but thats because sales will blame the medical for everything and never take responsibility for creating an unrealistic schedule. If sales feels that a clinician is taking too long with a patient (using allotted appointment time), they will come in and interrupt the current treatment to tell us that other patients are waiting. It is completely unprofessional and quite frankly embarrassing to have to explain to your current patient that you are not rushing their treatment for another patient. Once the square transaction has gone through though, LA has zero loyalty to the patient and will disrespect their time and money. Sales staff are supposed to help diffuse potential issues, but really they do not want to be the bad guy and let medical take the blame. Sales staff are prioritized by this company and act like they can tell medical staff what to do. I have had pregnant patients that sales staff, with zero medical background or training, try to have me perform treatments on and say it's not my choice to refuse. When my license is on the line, it definitely is my choice. The medical leadership has been completely dissolved in the last 2 months with 10+ regional managers being "let go" or quit due to not following the direction LA is going. If you need to call out for a personal day, or whatever the reason, the on call line will ask you to reconsider calling out, therefore coming in sick, and then specifically ask for your reason of absence if you still cannot come in. The only bright side is the nurses I have worked with have all been incredible! The girls are kind and genuine in their support of one another. We are all trying to help one another, but that can be limited when we're all overwhelmed and burnt out. The turnover is high within this company due to unrealistic expectations. The overall culture here is toxic at best. 

LaserAway used to be a respectable place to work at as a nurse. Very quickly, through a slew of shady organizational/policy changes, it became apparent the only thing the company cares about is money. Not staff, not even its patients, just their bottom line.

Patients are double/triple booked, which causes grief for both staff and the patients who are made to wait or constantly have their appointments moved around/cancelled. Sales representatives would mismanage the schedule, and then lie and blame the nurses when talking to patients to correct their errors ("We had a nurse call out" "There was a change in our nurses' schedule" "Our nurses are behind"). The overpacked schedule continuously compromised patient safety and satisfaction regarding quality of treatments as nurses were made to rush. You are expected to always accommodate and treat late patients, regardless of how late they are, how often they are late, or how far back it would push the next patient's appointment.

Patients are regularly allowed to cancel same day appointments, show up late to appointments, and mistreat staff without consequence. Nurses are encouraged to communicate with the sales representatives for assistance in these situations, but patients are always prioritized and sympathized with. Even if the patient is in the wrong, nurses are expected to fall on their own sword so sales can avoid having to penalize a patient/potentially lose a sale, no matter how egregious the offense was.

While upselling to patients as a nurse is technically optional, the sales representatives will strong arm you into assisting with closing out their sales. They will push you to outright lie to patients in order to sell treatments/products. If you ever bring forth any concerns about shady sales tactics/practices or general mismanagement of the schedule, your concerns were ignored/dismissed.

While being provided with paid training to learn the different aesthetic services provided by LaserAway is a huge benefit and a rarity in this industry, the training quality has decreased dramatically. Hands on practice is so important, however, you may only be given 1 or 2 models to practice a new treatment learned before you're "signed off" and expected to do them independently on the job.

As a nurse, you will be worked like a dog. You will regularly be pressured to compromise your own morals and values. You will regularly be put in situations that compromise patient safety, in turn compromising your own license. If you raise any concerns over any of this, you will be labeled as difficult and ostracized. 

It really is such a disappointment, especially knowing this used to be such a better environment to work in as a nurse.

The only bad thing I have to say about this job was the structure of how the managed “seniority”. I will elaborate more on that in a second. 

But the training was absolutely Phenomenal! The two week online training was very detailed and extensive. I had never done or sold any of the treatments prior to working for the company, but given how much knowledge I gained from the training, my first day in the clinic was like I had been working for the company years. I was absolutely set up for success and was able to out sell & reach my daily sales goal on my first day! 

This is where the “seniority” caused an issue. Given all the knowledge & training I had to sell , I was never told about the structure of sales & how they have a “seniority rule”. This meant I was set up for success to sell but set up for failure when it came to “walking on others toes”. I did out sell more than the other ladies who worked in the clinic with me by first week. Including the location Director. I felt great about it because I was praised for my numbers & sell performance from the higher ups within the company but noticed that the other ladies in the clinic were very cold and distant with me.  After about two weeks it was brought to my attention by the location Director that I was over stepping by not sticking to the “seniority rule”. I let her know I was never told about this rule before and apologized. 

The “seniority” is set up where any & all sales go directly to the Director first, if she’s not available then it goes to the next person who has worked there the longest, if she’s not available it goes down the line based off who has been with the company the longest. The way you are able to move up past someone else even if they have been there longer is to have higher numbers. But let me tell you, the other ladies refuse to let that happen. The way this structure was set up is the only reason I left and had I known about it prior, like during the training I would have never taken the job in the first place. 

But I have genuinely no other complaints, everything else about this company was 5 stars. The money was great, the structure, the policies, the products, treatments, all of it was the best! I loved working at LaserAway but the seniority structure was by far the worst thing I’ve ever experienced at a company working in sales. I would have been able to out sell the Director and I did multiple times before she made sure I was aware of stepping on her toes. After that there was no way I was going to move up so I had to leave. 

The products and services at LaserAway are promising, but the management was incredibly disappointing. I was lucky enough to have an incredible sales team to work with and an amazing, supportive location director, but my regional manager could have cared less about anything other than her reputation. My manager would reach out to me only to fulfill her managerial duties, and would literally ignore e-mails I would send back to her regarding sales disputes/questions/requests etc.

Cons/Personal Experience: 
- Very easy to miss your lunch break when you are busy with clients - missing your lunch break can result in further action 
- Easy to get sucked into administrative work, taking away from your sales time
- Sales disputes will always go in favor of who your manager likes better/higher salesperson
- Requested time off does not get granted 
- Human Resources seems to ignore clients with complaints or ineffectively settle disputes. Dealt personally (although I'm not HR) with clients who were frustrated with HR who seemed to only want to remedy their complaints with free services/discounted services etc. This is often not what the clients wanted or asked for
- I was not personally reached out to when I was laid off, found out through letter in the mail! Very unprofessional, in my humble opinion 
- Sales can be easily stolen with little hope of requital 
- You are to submit daily "goals" which are time consuming. As a new salesperson I felt my time was better spent doing otherwise, and these mandatory daily goals are never looked at or given feedback on 

Pros: 
- I had a great sales and nurse team to work with
- Discount on products

A typical day could be running the front desk, (sometimes alone) checking in patients, scheduling new appointments and answering the telephone, all while being expected to upsell to every patient that walks in the door.   It was typically very busy.  Down time if there was any was spent calling leads.  But the leads are not new leads.  LaserAway has a remote team that works the new leads.  There are still interested customers, but it requires calling over 50 - 100 leads a day to land one.  If your clinic is well stocked with staff it could be difficult to make your sales quota but if the clinic is slim on staff your chances are much better.  Unfortunately leadership doesn't value good hard working employees, they much prefer to rate you on your sales numbers and if you are meeting your quota or not.  Having a dedicated front desk person who isn't forced to pressure patients for sales would be a better model.  Your day to day experience can vary depending on who you are working with at the front desk.  If they are fun collaborators it can be a joy...but if they are hyper competitive and take your sales away from you (this happens a lot and it can be very frustrating) then your day can be horrible.   I watched our Location Director who was amazing at selling and had such a positive attitude for the first 4 months, only to leave her job in less than a year, out of frustration and feeling unsupported.   If you can hang in there you will learn a lot and you can have fun if you like the people you work with.   The turn over is tremendous at all locations and it shows.  The training is great, and it is ongoing so be sure to participate.  

I worked for LaserAway for over a year and a half. When I first started working here, it was great. I loved it! Over the past year, LaserAway has made some company changes that have really ran the company into the ground. I can now confidently say it is one of the WORST companies I have ever worked for. The company does not respect you as a nurse. You don’t get any breaks during the day. Patients are double and triple booked all day so you are constantly running behind and then being blamed for “running behind.” The patients are upset because they are paying thousands of dollars for elective cosmetic treatments and they are all being taken back late due to the schedule being over booked. I would say at least the training is good- but even that has gone down the drain as well. We used to get full days of training with multiple patients and now you get a half day and one hands-on model and then are off on your own. Patient safety is clearly not a priority. You never know what time you're going to leave for the day. The schedule is so overbooked and you are expected to treat EVERYONE regardless of if they are late or it's after hours. It is very likely that you may be staying till 7:00 or 7:30pm when you “get off at 6pm”. I have heard multiple zoom/teams meetings with higher ups being extremely disrespectful towards the nurses saying the nurses are easily replaceable.  Like I said- they don't value your opinion and do not treat you as a nurse. Do not waste your time. If you are a new nurse wanting to get into aesthetics- go get your experience elsewhere. This company will not respect you. STAY AWAY


 Unfortunately, I found the management style to be overly controlling, which hindered my ability to perform. How the sales process is set up that they do not tell you about, the Lead PCC and Location director are set up for the sales process as they handle all incoming consultation calls and walk-in consultations you have to hand over those calls and walk ins to them. This is VERY challenging for every other employee that works there. It makes it impossible to meet sales targets of $50,000 a month that not even the location director has ever met but yet she wants to criticize everyone else’s sales on a goal that she has never met and write you up for it and constantly send out messages to everyone, how everyone has to meet goal or else and to make sure you make your 100 calls that nobody will ever answer the phone. This is how you will start your mornings even before you get inside the building because you will get a group message text, it gets very draining on top of the extreme micromanaging. 
The sales process is inefficient, with multiple team members calling the same leads over and over again. This approach results in redundant efforts and decreased the likelihood of successful sales.
The management team also seemed to focus on criticizing individual performance. I found the frequent write-ups (if you have never been written up you will be at this job) and monthly one-on-one meetings to be unproductive and unmotivating. The management style at this location is very stressful and extremely micromanaged. Despite the company's stated emphasis on team morale, I found the work environment to be unsupportive and unencouraging.

LaserAway is the only company I have ever worked for, where upper management collaborates with employees to actively seek out solutions to problems. If an issue is identified, they ask for ideas on how to solve the problem, and then actually implement those ideas into new protocols. So even though the company is growing rapidly, it still feels like a family-run business. 

There is great opportunity for advancement; as the company continues to grow, new positions are being created based on the additional needs. If you have a solid work ethic, typically always go above and beyond the bare minimum, and express interest, then you will advance quickly. 

From a clinical/medical perspective, this is by far the best aesthetic dermatology company to work for. This industry is riddled with opinion-based techniques, not grounded in clinical research. LaserAway however, only implements protocols that are backed by evidence-based research, and have proven to be safe and effective longitudinally. So as a medical professional, I feel extremely secure in my practice. 

Is the medical environment fast-paced? Yes. However, as an RN who previously worked in intensive care; this job is a dream. Pressure in the ICU: having to admit a trauma patient who's actively trying to die. Pressure at LaserAway: having to do a laser resurfacing treatment in 20 minutes instead of 30. My quality of life has improved exponentially in this environment. 

If you are considering employment with LaserAway, I highly recommend seeking a remote position rather than an in-clinic role, particularly at the Jacksonville location.

While the clinicians are professional and a pleasure to work with, the overall clinic culture can feel discouraging and mentally draining. Leadership often prioritizes metrics over team morale, and concerns raised by staff are not consistently handled through proper HR channels. This creates an environment where favoritism and miscommunication can thrive, which can be frustrating for employees who value consistency and fairness.

Training and systems could be significantly improved to ensure smoother onboarding and better patient outcomes. The commission structure can also feel discouraging, as individual pay is impacted by the clinic’s collective performance rather than solely on personal contributions. Career growth opportunities are limited, and leadership roles do not always provide the additional authority or support needed to succeed.

While there are some positive aspects — such as the clinicians and the patients — the overall experience was stressful and left me feeling burned out. I often found myself bringing work-related stress home, which impacted my mental health.

If you are looking for a healthier work-life balance and a more structured environment, I would suggest considering LaserAway’s remote team or seeking opportunities at a well-established dermatology or medical aesthetics practice.

I’ve seen changes with the company during my employment that don’t align with the values and mission we strive as nurses.

I would say LA does give a good foundation for nurses to start with aesthetics to eventually move forward with better opportunities. However, the training is very condensed. Once nurses are independent, there is still a steep learning curve. Unfortunately with the double/triple bookings, it adds more stress and burnout with new and senior nurses. 

LaserAway’s business model is high client volume and money. The company is not patient centric. Patient Care Coordinators get an hourly pay plus commission bonus (if they make their sales goal), while nurses make minimum hourly pay and get double/triple booked. This disconnect can create toxic work environments since PCC’s will take advantage of nurses schedules and time to push for a sale. They will ask you do “do a quick consult” during the very rare break time you have for a walk in (note you have a client in less than 10 minutes, and consultations realistically can take up to 30 mins). 

Safety for Nurses and clients are compromised due to the double/triple bookings. This includes injectables such as neurotoxins and filler (which pose very high risk complications if done incorrectly). 

I would not suggest people in my personal life to invest their money into this company due to the way they operate. Things can be improved, but at the end of they day it’s at the expense of LaserAway making more money and sales. Sad to see how bad this company has gone downhill, especially to those who invested thousands only to get a compromised treatment.
