A typical day at work begins with preparing food trays and delivering the trays to residents in the their rooms. I then would help out the cook and prepare all meals for residents that come to the dining room for dinner. I serve each resident their meal and make sure that they have everything that they need for that particular meal (condiments, extra silverware, napkin). If they have any request to want more of their meal, I also serve them what they want as long as it is on their food ticket and they are safe to have it. After dinner I clean up all tables of dishes, silverware, and cups and bring them back to the kitchen and begin to load up all trays and with dishes and wash them. I take care of everything as it comes out of the dishwasher and if their is any other cleaning to do I then help out. I think the management here was at times helpful but seemed to not want to train me in the areas that I was told Id be trained in when I hired in. I was looking to continue my employment here but I was only getting three hour shifts on weekends and the management never trained me in other areas and I was never given any more hours as I was told I would get when hired in. My co-workers were very friendly and helpful in showing me how to do my job when I first started. If I wasnt sure of something and asked someone, they were always nice about showing me. I thing the one thing I enjoyed most about this job was being able to meet the residents and get to know them. When I was waiting on them I was able to talk to them and that also gave them the opportunity to get to know me. I really enjoyed talking to them and being able to help them out in any way that  I could. The hardest part of my job was when I started. I only had a hard time at keeping up with getting dishes done on time for a couple of days cause I had never used an industrial dishwasher. But as I kept doing it, I found a way to keep up and had a routine down.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Company is great. Corporate is helpful. Hillsboro facility is toxic. Mean spirited management. Everyone is out to get each other fired. I have never worked in an environment like this. Good benefits, pay and retirement. You however won't be employed long enough to benefit from any of it.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The employees. The job is cake. 80% of the job is paperwork. 15% is contractors and scheduling them. 5% is working on facility or equipment. But if you sit to do paperwork the employees will swear the building is falling in and will call corporate to tell on you. You are a servant not a manager here. You will need to hide to do 80% of your work. If you don't you will be fired for not doing it. Or you will be fired for using contractors. Or you will be fired for not getting the employees idea of what you should be doing finished.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very bad. Chaotic. Nobody takes responsibility for their actions. Employees damage building and grounds. You are to fix it. A lot of harassment. A lot of men get fired for it while being harassed by the women turning them in for harassment. Admin says to men... there are some things women can say that men cannot.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Flooded with work orders flagged as emergencies. Scheduling contractors. Being told how to do something by corporate only to be told different by admin. Harassment by employees. Hiding to do mandated paperwork. Employees stealing your tools, supplies, paperwork. You will get no help.

CNA work is not for the light hearted. Constantly moving and making sure your residents are cared for. 
With that being said, if your young, no kids, and have very flexible hours you can work...then this is the place for you. I'm sure once they get fully staffed, it would be a fantastic place to work. As of right right now, you can almost guarantee to work over your scheduled hours.. up to 16 hours even if you have a family issue that you've clearly stated numerous times. If they are that short staffed, management needs to step up and come in to avoid some of the distress on the CNA's. 
Some of the nurses are fantastic to work for. Others would rather sit at the desk and have another CNA give you a message instead of the nurse who the message is from. Then have the audacity to fabricate a story and say she told you...when in fact she didn't,  she had a messaged relayed. I'm sorry, unless it comes directly from the person in charge- it wasn't said. Hard telling if anyone was making things up or not. 
You just need to stand up for yourself to the workers who have been there awhile, or you'll get eaten alive. If there is something that they are totally capable of doing and they tell you to do it. Simply say no, and continue your regular task. (Unless it's an emergency).
The administrator is good. He goes out of his way to show appreciation. The management nurses kind of act like CNAS  are dumb. They don't directly say it like that, but the tone in their voices make you feel like an invalid. 
There are a few very very nice workers who do their job and do it well!

They talk up benefits and the great team work But what they don’t tell you is you have to work minimum wage for a year for a 3 percent increase So you loose money after probationary period do to the insurance

They say their there for you but in the long run you have to chase them down on any issue you have If your not a nurse you are a nobody

Work pace depends on many issues If co workers did their job Sometimes it was a hurry up and wait or wait and hurry up

Started just before Covid lockdown Give more responsibility with wash no extra pay Nurse got bonuses for working extra shifts threw gift cards But if you weren’t a nurse you were nobody(very prejudice groups) l had done my 4 years of high school but the people still acted like they we’re still in high school If nurses showed Covid symptoms they did very little about it Team work non existent No hazard pay Nurses did not like when you regularly communicated with residents Sometimes you would do more of the nurses job than your own Management may care for the residents but the employees as a whole didn’t You have to work a year before seeing a raise I just could not see me working a year at minimum wage for a 3 percent increase after probation you make about 200 less because of the insurance Insurance was good but at minimum wage it was like working for free

I was very excited in the beginning. The facility was clean, most of the staff were friendly and the residents appeared to be happy. I soon realized that the possibility of completing my work by the end of my shift was impossible. I worked most shifts without a break at all. Not only did I not get a break, there were others as well.  I continued to stay because I loved the residents. The job only became more difficult with the increase in the acuity of the residents. When asking for help from management there was none given. When asking for the necessary equipment to complete my job there was no response. There was a complete lack of communication. There were promises of staff meetings that never occurred. Accusations were made against employees with no proof. And on the flip side of that there were incidents that were witnessed and reported with no action taken. Long Term Care has a bad reputation in general. I had really high hopes that it would not be the case here but found that there is a reason for the reputation. The staff who are loyal and doing the best they can for the residents and the residents themselves deserve so much more. Ultimately, I decided to leave because I value my license. Also realized, after reading the reviews, that quite a few were from the staff. The residents are the reason we are there, yet it felt very much like they were the last to be considered. I miss them!

Let me start out by saying that this company lacks organization, staff, and resources. There are no benefits with regards to personal paid time nor personal time off. If you had Medicaid previously,  you won't qualify ant longer. However, they will tell you that you have to wait for open enrollment anyway instead of making sure you have insurance coverage.  They are completely short staffed and will over work you and then expect you to complete trainings outside of work. If trainings aren't completed due to the short staff and doing your job they will write you up when it is clearly out of your control. The pay is mediocre for the work that needs to be performed due to the staffing issue. Don't get pregnant and be put on light duties because they will discrimate and cut your hours. If you're sick and can't call in due to not having a voice, they will fire you even though you were in contact with them via text and have correspondence between you and personnel. They make up new rules as they go to make it more convenient for them. Payroll is unorganized as if you need something if takes about 30 minutes for them to locate while asking over and over when you got hired.

I have worked here as an RN since I graduated from nursing school in 1993. I have had opportunities to leave but never have because of the closeness I feel with my coworkers and the support to "be my best" from management.
I have worked at many capacities here. It's not possible to be bored. I am often challenged, which is what I like. 
If I have a problem, I can go to my manager who listens.  We have a motto which we live by "Family First". We look out for each other and have each others backs. If I need flexibility, management tries hard to make that happen.
We also put our guests above all. We make sure that their stay with us is pleasant and enjoyable. The rooms are clean. The food is good and the staff is warm and friendly. We provide excellent nursing care! I honestly would not still be here if we didn't. 
I'd put my family here (which I have) and so has many of the other employees, if that says anything.
So if you're looking for a place to get comfortable and work...this is your place. The PTO is amazing! You will love it here. Of course we have our challenges as all SNF's do (staffing at times is short which seems to be universal). 
We have monthly All Staff meetings where everyone gets together and can voice concerns or shout praises. Management does listen to any and all issues and works with employees to come up with a solution.
It's a very good place to work. I'd recommend it highly.

If you want to be ridiculed and berated, then this is the place for you to work. The hardest workers get treated the worst and are paid the least. However, instead of taking care of what and who they have, they would rather just continue to buy more property, and build more buildings instead of pay a housekeeper for example, $7.75 per hour!!! Can you imagine having to work for such little and try and survive? Too many unrealistic demands are made on the ones that work so hard already. If they don't like you, then you will be pushed to failure so that they can terminate your position and so they can bring in another goat to take your place for half the money. They could care less if they ruin your life in doing so. As long as they can line their pockets with their bonuses at the end of the year, they can justify their incompetence and lack of compassion. They are ruthless when it comes to money. If you are wise, please head my plea to not work there unless you don't mind being treated like a slave, regardless of your color. And if you are considering placing your family member there, their care will be lowere than low. Not that the staff isn't capable, but that the company won't hire enough staff. Don't believe their false promises from their marketing person. Will lie to your face, and will hide to not have to deal with you. Same goes for the administrator. A true gutless wonder. Your family member will not be safe.

If everyone communicate better and administrators would not just allow curtain people to do as they wanted this company could be better. Patient care should be the for front. Not just filling beds for the money and just passing meds. These Patients need actual care. Wounds should be checked daily when someone is showing signs of being sick or something is wrong something should be done or observed closer not just passed off or said it's okay they will get over it. Worst communication I have ever come across in a work environment period. Favorites are definitely played and if you're a favorite you get away with whatever you want. When starting there is very little training to new staff before thrown on a unit and jobs not being done correctly or at all because no training was done. There are a lot of good people here and most of the patients are great. Administration does take people that really don't belong there just to ensure beds are filled so at times you have people that will do for them selves to times where they belong on a locked unit with more invasive case. Nurses there do nothing but push meds and trying to get them to assess a patient or anything more then push their cart is like pulling teeth. When you report a form of neglect all that us said is it will be looked into and nothing comes of it and the problem still happens. 

In 2014, I began working at the Laurels, working full time on a long-term and skilled patient floor. The pace was usually moderately active, with the usual highs and lows of patient needs.  Staffing of 4-6 CNAs for the 60 resident/guests was the norm. The medications and treatments were my responsibility for my section of 28 resident/guests, several of whom were recent surgical/rehab patients needing pain control, and treatments aimed at their comfort and rehab care.  At times the atmosphere was very busy with needs being met and patient need. (pain, health issues, MD /family contact, STAT issues, treatments, and so forth). The care and welfare of the resident/guest was utmost. Many evenings when I worked, I worked overtime to complete e-charting and Point of Service paperwork I loved getting to know my patients and understanding their needs and helping to ease their issues, fears, needs and making them feel I was an advocate for them.  I had good relationships with many families of my residents, and felt good that they trusted my care for their family member. I really liked doing the extra computer work for my unit, which eased up the monthly burden of the other nurses on my unit who were happy to have the task done without added time from their day/shift.
