I spent a little over a year with LHCLA at the administration level. The company makes an effort for good company culture and some philanthropic events. Make no mistake this is a greedy company through and through. Direct service workers make $9 an hour drive while driving past executive reserved parking spaces full of land rovers.

These workers struggle with their bills, transportation to and from work, and childcare at such an unlivable wage. It is common to hear clients report to case managers that their workers steal basic household goods during their shiftd. All the while the executives are aloof and disengaged or on another European vacation. Mid level management promotions always where questionable. This company enjoys useless promotions and title changes, or frequent departemental reorganization all the while driving rapid gorwth and exansion. The only thing that is constant in this comany is large client caseloads, high turnover, overwork, low pay, and the elusion of company culture, and good benefits. 

Client care managers face especially high stress from their clients and the client's families, the service workers working with these clients and their supervisors as well as the day-to-day stresses of office paperwork and deadlines. 

As for benefits, healthcare is ok but expensive, 401k is a joke (25% of 3% of your annual salary), PTO is below average and pay is far below average for admin and service worker staff positions. 

Also, don't expect your vacation days to be paid out upon separation. 


What is the best part of working at the company?
I really enjoyed working with them. The company and staff were great. The clients were fun to work with.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
When other workers would not show up to shift, that's when everything gets stressful and crazy.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The company environment and culture was one that made you feel at home. The culture around the office was one of family and friends. The staff was there for you in anyway possible.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I worked the overnight shift. I would go into work. Depending on the day would depend on what we would do before bed time. My shifts always started on a Wednesday night. I rotated 7 days on and 7off.  Mostly I would come in around 10 pm. He would be taking his meds and going to bed. Friday I would come in at 8:15pm. He would usually want something to eat after church. He would go and get dressed in his pajamas. We would either watch movies. He would play video games before bed. I would remind him to take his meds. Saturday I would be there for 8:00 pm. He would take his bath if he had not done it yet. I would wash his hair. I would remind him to take his meds on time. We would also pick out his church clothes. Sunday I came in at 6:00 pm. We would go get some exercise by riding his bike. He would come home so that he could take his meds and bath. I would wash his hair. We would fix dinner together. Afterwards he would play video games.

Overall, I believe I began my journey with Leading Home Care on a strong note as part of the administrative staff. However, over time, I encountered challenges related to workplace dynamics, including noticeable favoritism and clique-like behavior, which at times felt reminiscent of a high school environment. While it is possible to build friendships here, it’s important to be mindful of what is said and to whom.

As the demands of the role increased—particularly with the on-call responsibilities and frequent weekend call-outs due to a lack of reliable caregiver coverage—the work-life balance became increasingly difficult to maintain. This led me to begin exploring other opportunities. I ultimately paused my job search when a different internal position opened up. I took the initiative to study and prepare extensively, learning all I could from the individual previously in the role. Despite my efforts, I was passed over for the promotion, which was disheartening—especially given the number of others who were promoted internally.

This experience left me feeling undervalued and underappreciated. While I remain passionate about serving this community, I’ve come to realize that it should not come at the expense of my well-being. I’ve since begun planning my next steps. It's also worth noting that the compensation does not reflect the volume and complexity of the work—particularly for someone holding a degree.

LHC is a job where you should expect to be over worked for little pay. The mileage pay is .32 cents a mile and you’re driving 50+ miles daily. The on-call is horrible and you’re never really off work when you think you are. You’re constantly working after hours & on weekends when you’re “off”. The amount of responsibilities this job puts on its admin staff is ridiculous, the turn over rate for DSW & admin is insane. If LHC really cared about their employees as much as they care about the check that the clients are bringing to them, it would be a better work place. It is ran on disorganization and disfunction 10/10 don’t recommend unless you want a headache! You can not have a life or family while working here. There’s also no real training when you start the job, they’re going to throw you to the wolves. 

Started off good, i would work the overnight shifts had a great client. My relief would come to her shift very late everyday and they did nothing most of the time to help me with that even though i had other obligations.Had to part ways when i told them i had training at another job and would be out for a few days they were “ok” with it then all of sudden they throw me on shifts i couldn’t make and basically told me that i could not come back. lots of hours to be made. very little pay. will beg you everyday to come cover shifts and would even offer incentives such  as gift cards or cash to take them especially during holidays.

I've worked here for 2 years and the office staff is way below horrible, but particular just 1person at the location. They will send you out 
text messages asking you to work shifts and in hand offer you a cash bonus for the sudden shift you take, but you never see the bonus. Also the pay they start you off with which is minimum wage and keep you there without ever getting a raise, is definitely not enough for all the work that is required of you when you're with the clients... This job can be stressful at times and at times the clients are a bit much, also they mess up on your time and your pay quite a bit and actually some people in the office talk too much and will lie on their workers if they feel the need to. I definitely wouldn't recommend anyone to work for this company.

LHCL pays minimum wage and tries to avoid paying overtime. The schedulers, for the most part will work with you to keep your hours up. I was expected to show up for training when I started working there that they said was mandatory, but I was not paid for it.
They don't offer direct deposit and all time sheets are still on paper that has to be turned into the office.
Most clients are easy to work with. They range from mild developmental disabilities to severe mental and physical disabilities. You are expected to provide all care needed for the individual up to and including restroom care and bathing. Cleaning of the apartments or houses is also required. You have to have your own vehicle that you use for most transportation of the clients.

Worked for this company for 7years. No raise in 7years. Very underpaid for the amount of responsibilities and job duties assigned. We were made to force our client to art classes. Where are the clients rights?! The coordinator was very unprofessional and would gossip with other staff upstairs with other staff members which got back to me! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!  Save your breath  and time and run from this job! Coordinator will not find you another job if your client is too hard to handle or passes away! Go figure! I thought that was the coordinators job Duties!

During the course of my interviews, I was informed that I would be required to be on call once a month or every 5 weeks. This discrepancy is not aligned with the agreement I made, and I feel misled as a result. The job description pertaining to being on call appears to be misleading, particularly in the context of my role as a CCM (Care Coordinator)

 The office staff exhibits a high level of exclusivity, forming cliques that restrict interaction with others. This behavior creates a toxic work environment, which can be detrimental to productivity and overall employee well-being. It is crucial for organizations to foster a culture of inclusivity and collaboration to ensure a positive and harmonious workplace atmosphere.

Residents were great. Of course there were bad days, but more good days. The supervisors were awesome. Everyone in the office was just sweethearts. They were always nice and helped you the best they could. They pay is low and depending on what region you worked in, the were sometimes shirt staffed. It could stand to go up more. This company is really active with it's clients. They do parties for the clients for every occasion. They have bowling events for the clients. They even have events where they will take all their clients to local events within the area just for fun. I would definitely recommend this company to others.
