I worked in the as a dietary aide. The nightly cook was very overwhelmed with being there all day with call offs, low staff, and mounting work load not done by previous shifts. Everything would fall onto the dinner shift skeleton crew. When asking management to help or for clarification they would scoff at you, demand more, and not give support. There was a clear disconnect with how management runs and how it was actually implemented. There was not communication when or if supplies would be changed causing patients to be upset with not getting a certain brand of food item. Many would refuse to eat said food because it would not that brand.  The nurses would try to lighten the load but they are overwhelmed themselves with patient care, under staffing issues, ect. The culture was very dogmatic and management would not assist in anyway shape or form until absolutely necessary thus saving the day but blaming the every day joe for doing his/ job incorrectly. 
First time nurses would be burned out within months of working there. Many nurses are seasoned veterans are there because they have no choose or they are doing it as a calling. Recognition is not due here you are treated disrespectfully by management and have to put a happy face on for patients. It is a very toxic environment and everyone their is trying to shoulder their own work load and someone else. 


Okay, so I worked at Parkside Villa as an STNA for about 6 months. So, after this experience, here's what I have to say:

Pros: HR manager (at the time) is very understanding and courteous toward others, and will go out of her way to make sure that you are satisfied to the best of your ability. She's also fair and straightforward at the same time. There are a few nurses and aides there (again, at the time) that will appreciate the work that you put forth. The occasional thank you isn't all that bad, either. Some of the residents are very heartwarming and understanding toward the employees, as well!

Cons: There were times where I almost got written up for things that I didn't do. It seems to me that there are instances where other aides will not help out, they constantly call off all the time, the staffing is short, and there really aren't many days where you can request off. If you do, it must be done far in advance. There are units where the number of aides is not sufficient to properly care for the residents. 

I want to stress that this was all current at the time I was there. Am I going to say that this place should be perfect? Absolutely not. Am I going to expect it to be perfect. Again, absolutely not. Am I going to sugarcoat the truth of this place? Once again, absolutely not. 

I believe it can improve over time, IF and ONLY IF the staff that is hired are overall competent. The backbone starts with the STNAs. They must be overall competent, and they must call off few times in their time there.

There are 40 patients to one nurse. Administration refuses to hire med techs or have an additional nurse on the unit. Always stressed, absolutely no help from the floor managers that get to sit around all day because they're friends with admin. Absolutely no room for growth. Always hiring from outside, no one ever get promoted in house. HR is clueless and can never handle any issues regarding payroll, always having to figure it out for yourself.  The same knowledge I came into this company with, I am leaving with after an entire year of working here. You never have the opportunity to learn more or increase your skill set. Workplace culture is always hostile with the exception of social services and floor workers. No matter how hard you work, it always goes unnoticed. There are no incentives to work here. Work life balance is horrible. Will call and beg for you to come in on your days off or always push for you to work 16 hour shifts. Residents are unhappy. Understandably upset at scrambled eggs and toast every morning. Meals are HORRIBLE. The best part of their day is coffee, and they rarely send enough for them to enjoy. Never seen corporate come in and speak to the staff to ask what can be changed or what their prospective of working here is like. No one cares, at all. The only good thing that this company has done is bring on Stafford NP's. That's it. The NPs are awesome, always there when needed.

I am a past and present employee of Pleasantview. I have a hard time with my schedule with my kids and home life and the scheduler is very flexible and works well with a lot of the employee's. I can switch up my shifts to make it work for me and still have time for my kids and school and get a decent paycheck.
Administration is out and about the floors and the Supervisors for the most part are pretty cool with the staff. As long as your taking care of the resident's wants and needs they pretty much leave you alone.
Everyone has good days and bad but for the most part I feel it's a pretty good place to work, I left for better money and came back because Staffing ratio is lower than anywhere else I have worked and the Staff and Administration are workable and they don't change DON'S or Administrator's. It's a stable place and most of the workers are nice and help when asked. 
On the downside of it, they keep some employees that DO not have their heart in it and have NO business working there. All they do is talk negative about the place and I think to myself If you left it would be a better place for me to work. Just leave if your so miserable!!
I would like to see better pay and bonuses for the ones that care and work hard to keep it a HAPPY place to work.

A typical day at work included listening to constant complaining, continuous mockery of the residents and their families, and pure laziness. Some of the staff was wonderful, but I can't say that about the management. They seem to make it all about money and numbers, and there is a lack of respect for the people coming into the building. It's truly hard to say I enjoyed any part of the job because I didn't. I tried to mind my own business and do the work I was to do. However, it is just utterly unbelievable how disrespectful the management team was. The benefits are horrible, and pay was very poor as well, definitely not a wage you can make a living on. There is constant drama 24/7 between staff and upset residents as well. Very poorly run facility. I was basically told to lie when it came to certain parts of my job. Even if customer feedback was what they wanted, I would be reprimanded for giving the negative feedback from the patients. Truly is just a dysfunctional and poorly run facility, and I am very happy that I was able to leave when I did.

EVERY RIGHTEOUS WORKER I MET WHILE I WAS HERE ENDED UP FIRED! WITH RUMORS THAT SCAR YOUR CHARACTER FOR LIFE! I worked with STNA s who constantly sabotaged my work. I made written statements to my superiors. No responses ever. I asked for a transfer verbally and written. No response. STNA s would sleep on the couches on 3rd shift until 5am change a couple diapers and put you in a wheelchair. One STNA always came to work in spanks and flip flops and wouldn't get dressed until 5am when administrators come in. People would let their screaming residents yell all night and ignore them. I tried answering them but then the STNA thinks its my job all together to take care of them. They change the schedule without notice. This is not the job for someone with many home responsibilities. You never get off on time. There is always mess from the previous shift. ADMINISTRATION IS NOT ON YOUR SIDE! THERE IS NO OPEN DOOR CONFIDENTIALITY. YOU WILL BE THE TALK OF THE FACILITY! THEY PREY ON NEW HIRES AND IF YOU HAVE A KIND SOUL YOU WILL BE EATEN ALIVE!

Legacy Place, Twinsburg, OH could and should be a very nice, positive and upbeat place to work....however, it really is not because of the following: 

Administration that is ineffective & unqualified; chronic under-staffing when it comes to employees who actually do the work: ie housekeeping, laundry, maintenance, dietary, STNA's, activity assistants, etc; very low pay, without periodic performance reviews & raises; no appreciation for employees who show up on a regular basis and don't call off; lack of teamwork & employees being left on their own all of the time to get the work done, due to lack of adequate staffing; and, a complete lack of respect for staff, by other higher up employees who are permitted to yell and scream at housekeeping, dietary, STNA's, activity assistants, etc whenever they want to! Unbelievable how bad this place is to work! Stay away!

Place is a real joke.  Expect you to work with  a bunch of hoyer lifts, heavy and 2 assist people and multiple feeds by yourself.  Some workers are rude and screaming at you when you take a break.  So I have to run to another unit to get help?. No real good training to get to know the residents.  Too short staff.  I am not breaking my back.  To lift people three times my weight and to roll them over so a nurse can fix his ulcer bandage and I said I can't roll him he his heavy so I am leaning and can barely roll him over for like 25 mins and i told the nurse I need someone to help me and she is like quit complaining and said I need help  or do you want me to go home.  So after that i told nurse I am leaving and let HR know and I went home.  They tell me before I leave to Find a replacementime ??  And I said that is HR job not mine and I never went back.  Do not ruin your health or back if you feel too much pressure to do something that seems like too much like hurting your back and you have argue for help best to get another job.
