This company seems to have ups and downs. When i started in early  ‘21, it was great. There was a clear down period before I joined, but there were tons of veterans there. I got paid relatively well, goals were attainable, and morale wasn’t terrible. It felt like the company had integrity. IPO in June of that year marked the start of something foul. Gradually, the goals became less attainable, the trainings less frequent, and the products more convoluted. As every other public company is doing these days, subscriptions became the focus. 

Sure, customers opt-in to registered agent service, but there was such a significant amount of people that didn’t mean to add it on that I wonder how much accidental revenue is ethical? Who is ethically so bankrupt  that their teams implement something that you’ve found out how you can legally say only what’s required, and design the website such that 25% of all buyers of a given service are completely unaware that they’ve signed up for it? That’s not what I came into sales for. 

The company’s focus moved away from “democratizing law” and more to “dollarizing the customer.” Goals became higher and higher, all while the company hired more people in sales and changed products with little training, meaning the percentage of people hitting goal got lower. My pay took a significant nosedive around Jan 2022.

Then our current recession-like economy came about. Despite this, LegalZoom proceeded with opening a new, undoubtedly incredibly expensive office in Playa Vista. Tenured people were let go for seemingly no reason, then my manager, and then me. Out of 22 people that I started with, only 4 were there at the 1.5 year mark. At my departure, it was revealed that some benefits were being cut as well. 

I’ve never been so disappointed in a place of work before. The potential to be great is there, but they’re far from the mark at this time, and I don’t think they’ll ever be there or close to it again. 

At LegalZoom, we work hard and play harder! I have had the great opportunity of working with conscientious individuals that understand the idea of customer satisfaction and quality! I have learned that being apart of a brand new company entails constant change, and most importantly, it requires patience! I have enjoyed working with young individuals that have demonstrated initiative, creativeness, and professionalism daily.

The hardest part of the job is specific to the notion of change and implementation of new policies and procedures. I feel opportunity for improvement would be for management and leads to work in concert with one another to assure the message of these changes are consistent; there have been a few instances where different messages have been conveyed, and this has affected quality and morale amongst the teams. The great thing about this is how quick the company responds to these instances to ensure the team may be successful and the customers are satisfied. I have taken this lesson to heart because recovery is key to success, and I feel this company as demonstrated that very well.

The most enjoyable part of the job is the comradely that exists amongst our employees. Everyone experiences great days and challenges alike, and the support I have received from reps and managers has been very comforting! I have enjoyed working in customer care, and I feel this company has created a stronger and more conscientious person due to this fact.

Training is 90% role playing scenarios that hardly will happen, the trainers will play an "angry" customer to get you ready yet hardly spend time teaching how to actually navigate your systems. 

Nesting isn't much better, you'll probably get one, or two actual coaching's, more role playing, and also having to hear "This is what worked for me, this is how I got off the phones." in a more boasting tone than motivation.

When you're finally in production calls are steady some days you'll be hit with back to back calls other days are a breeze. 

There will never be anyone to take your escalated calls and you're expected to dangle a discount and hope the customer will accept it. 

Management and support is all over the place truly never know who's actually in charge.

Support will give you six different answers to your question, or reword your very question as your answer, and or close out your thread stating to "reformate" wasting your hold time because you'll have to open an entire new thread which bumps you down in the support queue. 

Like any call center job they will uptrain you and not raise your pay so doing twice as much work while being paid the the bare minimum. 

Working at LegalZoom is fun and challenging day in and day out. As an agent I stayed busy helping people build their dreams and during breaks and lunches there are private phone rooms where you can surf the web or tend to personal matters. There are banks of computers in the large break area for less private surfing and an occasional run away ping pong ball. Also several 60 inch flat screens with direct TV with living room style furniture to relax on. There are separate mini break rooms with free coffee as well as several different types of free milk. That's right - free milk. Whole, 2%, skim, almond and soy. There is also free Swiss Miss and tea. 

LegalZoom is 100% no judgement and open. Everyone is pleasant and professional and laid back at the same time. You can have a conversation with the VP of another department just in passing or make small talk with a Director while getting free bagels on Friday. You'll see an older woman with purple hair and Converse All-Stars next to a guy with dread locks and $500 Jordan's next to a guy with a goatee, a Harley Davidson T-shirt and steel toe Doc Martins. And they are all smiling and having a great day at the Zoom.

The money and career opportunities are also great :)

A Typical Day at work would be going in at 8:30. Grabbing a cup of tea and sitting at my desk reviewing emails, customer requests to process refunds and credit card charges. Majority of the day is spent processing refunds and charging customer credit cards following the approval and confirmation to proceed with their orders. All departments are checked hourly to make sure all phone orders are processed and confirmed. Monthly reconciliation of 3 credit cards were also done and replenishment of secretary of state accounts completed monthly. 

The management  and Co-workers were definitely fair and each person had a unique and upbeat personality. This was definitely an office where the co-workers and management is one of the things you look forward to when going to work. 

The hardest part of this job making sure all customer requests were satisfied on the daily basis. Requests consisted of over 700 requests daily. 

Every part of this job was enjoyable, unfortunately during my time of employment I had to prioritize school making it difficult for me to balance full time work and full time student at the same time.

Legalzoom is not your ordinary sales environment; laws dictate that it be a very customer centered sales position about informing the customer of all their legal options rather than leading the customer to a decision based on opinions and preferences.  This makes it a very meticulous, but positive and low pressure sales position.  This atmosphere carries over into the culture as well.  With frequent contests, activities, and events the company promotes a very open-door and friendly environment between both the employees and management.  Being in the Sales Analytic department I would work closely with all of the sales floor, both phone representatives, management and senior management.  Working here I have learned many key aspects of a sales oriented call center including, but not limited to, team and personal interaction, forecasting and predicting trends, mass communication, leadership, presenting data in an easily digestible format, and personal growth.  The analytic team is a very small team which would make room for advancement the overwhelming con of the job.  All things considered LegalZoom is a very welcoming, comfortable, and forward thinking company of which I've had a pleasure being a part.

Was hired thru a staffing agency(an important strategy to not pay you benefits and get rid of you any time they want). From the beginning of training, there were a lot of aspects managers were not specific about like SCHEDULE and commission ATTAINTMENT. We were told schedules were based on performance and dependant on ranking after training. Big lie!! out of a class of nearly 50 people probably 1% got the schedule they needed/wanted. Some single parents were shocked to learn they had to work 8-12hr days on weekends and have days off during the week when they requested weekends off to spend time with their kids on the weekend. We were told, "This is sales so deal with it". Commision attaintment was another big lie!! They paint a picture where everyone has high call volumes/sales but the reality is that 90% of those calls are customer service/angry customers that were on hold for over 30 minutes. Several products overlap on benefits and they want you to sale them even if the customer is over paying for a feature they already get with another product. I find this practice dubious and unethical because must costomers don't realize they already have such feature on another product. 

Senior leadership cares about one thing....Ensuring whatever they tell the board they were going to do gets done when they promised.  No matter how unready for go live it is.  Suggestions for improvement are ignored and go by unacknowledged.  Reporting is done only for executives, no day-day reports or eye for improving existing processes.  Build me something new so the board stays happy is a pretty common feeling around here.  One example: we released a new document automation process.  There were say 50 known bugs at the time of go live.  After 6 months there were around 40 known bugs.  Because our internal support team is so bad (think worse than cable company support bad) we have to create taskforces to fix bugs and those even take forever because everyone is constantly being told stop what you are doing this is a top priority to work on, etc.

I've been around for five years now, even back in our office. Back in the office, we had fun while getting the work done. There were plenty of people who were new but still people who had been there a long time. Even when there was overtime, it was only half an hour at lunch and they brought lunch in. 

The company did a pretty good job of managing Covid-19, getting a whole WFH system set up in about two weeks and they gave updates on compensation and changes pretty regularly. They did what they could to make sure that people knew what was going on.

Then they went IPO and all the higher ups care about is making money for themselves and the company, but not the employees. Every customer-facing department, even sales, is getting outsourced to a 3rd party to save money and goals continue to go up every month while LegalZoom works to streamline the process with lower costs (and therefore less people hit goal and make their OTE payout). 

Since IPO, it's all about the money, which is wonderfully ironic since the stock price is in the basement. That and working remote have destroyed the culture and have forced veterans of the company to leave for something new.

Was hired for a pilot tax program which the head of sales deemed "successful". However through a little over 2 months of training, the last week was the only week we spent learning about our job as they were still putting everything together. 
Management avoided any questions about pay and what we were actually going to do in our position (as it changed so much throughout those two months). 

Don't ask for anything in writing, you'll be dragged into a meeting to talk with management about being a team player instead of against them. When in reality, bait and switch in job employment is a real, and sadly legal thing for businesses to do with positions and pay, unless you have a written agreement.

Later found out why they didn't want anything in writing is because after getting converted to a full time Legalzoom employee, management dropped pay by $8/hr and didn't leave much for compensation.

Legalzoom also believes bonuses are the same as commission.
