The benefits and PTO plans are outstanding. We also get annual raises and a Christmas bonus which is very generous in and of itself. All the departments get along fairly well. That being said, there are some serious issues. For one, the management is AWFUL. There is no room for advancement PERIOD (which I assume is why so many people leave). No matter how hard you work or how long you’ve been there, you’re stuck where you’re at. When specialists leave or some higher up position needs filled, they won’t even consider promoting an assistant. They’ll just hire someone from the outside to fill it every time. There are some employees who have been in this department for literally DECADES and are STILL ASSISTANTS(which gives me no hope of advancement whatsoever). The pay scale is completely unbalanced. Some employees make more money than they deserve. Other employees (who in most cases know every position) make less than they deserve. There’s no incentive to learn positions and grow. You’ll be paid the same, but you’ll know more and do more. The scheduling is TERRIBLE. Dayshift is an eight hour shift anywhere from 5:00am to 10:00 pm. It’s impossible to get any kind of sleeping schedule or SET SCHEDULE for that matter(but don’t worry; if you’re newly hired, you’ll be given set hours). The management emphasizes that gossip is unacceptable, yet the managers themselves are the most guilty of it. If the scheduling manager isn’t screaming at somebody, you can bet she’s probably talking about employees to another supervisor or even employees themselves! How professional and what a good example! The sou chef acts like he wants nothing to do with anybody and comes across as annoyed whenever you ask him something. On top of these, the management is very INCONSISTENT. Some days, rules are enforced and people get written up. Other days, everybody could be on their phone at once and not one manager would say a word. The people are nice, the benefits and PTO plans are amazing, the pay is decent, but the management is bad enough to ruin it all together. This department is constantly recruiting people..... I wonder why! 

The positives (if you’re willing to put up with the management) is that the benefits are AMAZING. The hospital offers full health, life, dental, eye, and other insurances as well. The PTO (Paid Time Off) is basically unlimited. You could probably take up to six weeks of paid vacation within your first two years of working there if you wanted to. Every Christmas, we get a pretty nice bonus anywhere from $200 to $400. We also get raises every six months usually. At the moment, culinary exclusively offers an OT bonus of $100 on top of the overtime hourly rate (which is time and a half). So basically, the OT is really good money. 

Pros:
Decent pay, benefits, annual raises, Christmas bonus, rotating holidays, OT bonus(temporary due to severe under-staffing). 

Cons:
MANAGEMENT, inconsistent hours, no chance of advancement, unbalanced pay scale, inconsistent enforcement of rules, constantly under-staffed, some co-workers are just not pleasant to work with at all (which is everywhere).

Don't waste your time. If you're looking at getting into the healthcare field, LMH will turn you off to it. You do get more experience than other healthcare positions like nursing homes or home healthcare, but I don't know if the stress is worth it. 

Nurses are overwhelmingly very low in intelligence and competency. They have very little compassion for their patients and/or employees. LMH has a high turnover rate for a reason. I have truly never experienced so much rudeness and bizarre social behavior after 15 years of working than with nurses. It's almost a level of mental illness. I personally would think twice about even going to this hospital for help, now. 

You either get one extreme or the other: people who have been there for 20+ years who refuse to change, or a kid right out of nursing school who has never had a real job before. Both are extremely obnoxious and rude for the most part. 

Was also told when hired I would never be out of ratio and have more than 7 patients. That's been proven a lie with myself and others who have had upwards of 12-15. 

You are paid way too little for the amount of work expected. I did appreciate my trainers and thought they were good people, but that's about it for the positives. 

VERY outdated medical charting system (that for some reason they're still bragging about?), very old-fashioned, dated corporate thinking. You can't access your own payroll from home, you have to physically go into the hospital. Short staffing, faulty equipment, and also dirty because they don't have the employees needed to appropriately clean anything, let alone take care of the patients' hygiene. 

At the same time, you are told constantly that you are "saving lives" and that you need to make this your entire life's work. If my job was so important, I wouldn't be paid only a few dollars above minimum wage. This is a very toxic work environment on top of all the gossiping. I almost never see the nurses leave the charge station. 

I think this company attracts people who can't really find anything else to do. Healthcare is notorious for retaining inadequate workers simply because they are the only people who will keep showing up; therefore, they stay or are promoted. People who are competent tend to quit or move on to something better. 

I think LMH does provide some opportunities if you're looking to get some experience or go to nursing school, but I'd get out of their system after that and find a better job. 

Pay was okay, but the overall environment of LMH was TERRIBLE. Very poor management who loves to micromanage but if you ask for help they refuse to help you. The nurses who train other nurses are terrible too. Instead of helping you, they would rather talk around and hang out. Charting system is EXTREMELY OUTDATED. I am an adult but they felt the need to call MY MOM if they needed to get ahold of me outside of work (which is completely inappropriate in my book. Especially when my mom would take weeks to relay the message to me! I asked them multiple times not to do that, but they didn’t listen). The management doesn’t care about the employees at all and they barely care about patient care. They do not reach out to employees if you request assistance. Some of the other coworkers would find every little thing to complain about like if you step out from the nurses desk to answer an important call, they will complain to management saying you were on your phone one time while on the clock. They micromanage charting, especially when you are training. If you are in training and the trainer doesn’t like how you charted something, they will write you up.

The hospital staff are willing to help with all aspects of the Covid vaccines from checking in to making sure patients are taken care of in a timely manner with as little stress worry on their part. The process is running smoothly and is appreciated by all the public that has come in so far. Just wish more of the community and the Ohio public would get vaccinated. Would like to see more reaching out to the general public by spreading out to various facilities to help achieve more available vaccination opportunities. Educating the public more about the Covid vaccine ( flyers, commercials, newspaper articles, radio talks, etc.) and scheduling more days ( to allow more of the working class/students accessibility) that could improve the percentage of the population being vaccinated.

Throughout the day, I balance reconciliation sheets for account receivables, train co-workers on certain aspects of their jobs.  I research client account problems. I order all supplies. Correspond with our fiscal department to provide them with departmental findings.  Research all agency accounts for delinquency.  I provide end of day, month and end of year procedures and reports. I provide all bankruptcy information for our department and agency.  Many other procedures throughout the department. 
   I have learned to prioritize many job duties.  I have learned other co-workers jobs in order to provide coverage,  which I enjoy the most. I work with very knowledgeable people who are very forthcoming with information.  
   The hardest part of the job is to see my co-workers move on to other job duties, different employment or retirement. 
    Our management allow us to provide the organization all information needed with trust.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The opportunity to be working on anything or anywhere. Whether it be outside in the summer or inside the hospital or at one of the other facilities.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Well the being on call all winter for snow removal is very stressful. They may call you in at 1 am and you may work another 12-18 hours before you leave work again. Sleep is optional. The lack of proper equipment is also stress inducing. Relying upon snowblowers and tractors that are older than me clear snow .

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Its very family oriented for sure. All of your superiors and management treat you like your either related or a close friend. Everyone works together to get the job done, but still have some fun too.

I was very fortunate to have the keys to the office. I was trusted to come early or stay late to get my job completed. I worked very hard to decrease receivables and increase revenue. I was given a great opportunity to learn all aspects of billing in a hospital setting. My co-workers were great. Everyone got along great and we all did our part to make the billing team a successful team. The hardest part of the job was making sure that I was accountable and ready for any report or information the Finance Officers requested. But, I always succeeded with this and had a good relationship with all my management team. One of the most enjoyable aspect of my job was the ability to work independently.

Very fast paced office most days. Heavy telephone calls. Must be able to multi-task. MUST be confidential. Ability to remain courteous to upset parents must be a high priority. Enjoy the atmosphere with the clerical and the clinical staff. Most difficult part of job is the almost never ending phone calls. Most enjoyable part are the parents who appreciate your help in fulfilling their needs. Management, Providers and clinical staff are appreciative of hard work.

I go to work at 11:00 p.m. I run a report to see what product to take up to my floors to stock. I stock Maternal Child and OR outpatient bedside carts. I learn something new every day while working at LMH. I have learned how to work on my own and organize my time. I get along very well with my co-workers. We have to work together to get things done. A truck comes in every morning and I help put inventory on the shelves in purchasing with the help of day time co-workers. And that would be the hardest part of the job because we get a lot of inventory every day to have to put away. The most enjoyable part is being able to stock the Delivery room and seeing the new born babies.

I worked at LMH for almost ten years. Don't believe those who say that LMH isn't a good company to work for! It is an excellent company with managers and co-workers who truly care. LMH also has very good benefits. Compare their insurance benefits to other health care systems like Genesis Healthcare. This is one of the best companies to work for in Licking County or even the state! I just wish there were more companies like LMH in Licking County! The CEO and the senior management do a wonderful job and really care about people and families! The pastoral department is absolutely wonderful! Thank you LORD JESUS for this company and for all that it does for Licking County!
