LifePath Services has a great workforce, at every level and provides a very important service for Collin County! There are 39 Community Mental Health Centers in the State of Texas who provide Behavioral Health Services, Intellectual Disability support services and Early Childhood Intervention services. I worked directly for another center for over 10 years and have helped others. LifePath stands out as a Center who cares about their workforce! I was amazed during New Employee Orientation that all the Executive Management team visited and personally welcomed everyone in the class to the Center!!
This is important work! When you have a family member with a mental illness, substance use disorder, intellectual disability or a delay in early childhood, treatment and help can be difficult to find and access. Having had experience with helping family members and friends navigate these services, I appreciate how LifePath helps families’ lives improve and care about their clients. Not every day will be perfect as an employee, but at the end of everyday I know I have helped people in the community who have had an even worse day (and I am a support staff to providers). 
The providers have challenging jobs with clients who have significant life challenges in an industry that pays conservatively with most of the funds coming from taxpayer dollars and grants. The paid time off & holiday schedule allows you to have a work-life balance. The benefits are very carefully managed to maximize employee advantages and health insurance improves every year. Incentives are given and staff are recognized for achievements. 
Several of these are new to me, they simply do not exist in other centers, but are so appreciated! If you have a heart for service and want to love coming to work every day because you know you are helping the community, this is the company for you!

Several key challenges within the workplace that impacted my role and the overall work environment last three months:

Mistrust and Micromanagement: The environment fostered mistrust toward employees, compounded by excessive micromanagement from the Crisis Center PA, which hindered our ability to work efficiently and confidently.
Burnout and Overwork: Reducing the number of case managers per shift from 4–5 to 1-2 placed an unsustainable workload on staff, leading to burnout and compromising the quality of client care.
Lack of Supervision and Support: Employees had no consistent supervision or face-to-face interaction with the PA, relying solely on email communication. This lack of direct engagement left us feeling unsupported and undervalued.
Productivity Over Quality: The focus on productivity metrics above all else undermined our ability to provide meaningful, client-centered care, detracting from the mission of the crisis center.
Decline in Service Quality: These systemic issues have led to a noticeable deterioration in the quality of care provided by the crisis center, affecting clients who rely on us during critical moments.
Bias and Discrimination: I experienced daily stress last three months due to a perceived bias regarding my language skills. While English is my second language, I have consistently demonstrated clarity and professionalism in my performance.
Employees Are Human, Not Robots: The lack of empathy and understanding for employees’ personal and professional challenges has further exacerbated workplace stress. Employees balance demanding responsibilities with personal lives, and the current environment does not acknowledge this reality.

Run as far away from this place as you can. I have worked here for a while. Although I first started I felt validated and supported by supervisors and upper management, they have now made it quite difficult to work. They look the other way when staff makes complaints regarding another working threatening you and making it a hostile work environment. They have changed our work hours from 8 hour shifts to 12 hour shifts, only giving a months notice of the mandatory change. I originally took the job for 8 hours and now I’m being forced to do more. 

You will not be given an actual lunch break. Although they tell you to take a break, you always are having To work through it just to get stuff done. 

Upper management is completely unpredictable. They have been firing people for no reason. One person was fired just for asking a question about her job duties, another was fired the day she came back from medical leave, and another was fired 2 days after giving her resignation. They allow staff (especially the case managers) to be overworked. Staff is leaving at a fast rate with higher turnover than usual. There is a lot of underhanded stuff going on and job security is not guaranteed. If I didn’t have a family to support, I would have already left. As soon as I find another job, I’m leaving.

I really want to like this place bug as you spend time here it becomes increasingly apparent how flawed it is.

The upside is that I have never felt like staff are interfering with my job. I have never felt stifled or slighted, and it really does feel like everyone is working together to do what's best. I must specify that my team lead has been great at supporting the team and has made my experience there much better than it otherwise would be.

But the system of the workplace just does not work in many ways. Workloads more or less impossible to manage at times with caseloads exceeding 200. Upper management constantly demands  arbitrary changes to procedure, often at the detriment of clients and staff. Management will often tell a staff member to do something but not acknowledge they are doing it. (Like having a case manager work from home, but not allowing them to state that they will only take virtual appointments on those days). The requirements for some programs are sometimes unbearably unfair to the client, though this is a state issue and not lifepath specifically. Things like printers are very often broken. Many procedures are more or less abandoned by staff because they straight up don't function at all, like the company cars and internal translation email.

Overall it's great for a newbie to mental health to gain experience, but nothing beyond that.

Working with different types of people is amazing, clients are great and really appreciate the help you are giving them. That’s the only good thing about this job. Management does not care about you. They claim they are there to help but when you ask for help they will tell you figure it out and then get onto you again about not knowing how to get it done when they do not tell you how you can even begin to TRY to fix it. The pay is not worth the stress. Management claims to care about your mental health (which is why you get ~15 hours PTO a month) but will do everything in their power to make sure you do not succeed. The productivity requirement is crazy. In my time working there, I only met productivity one time. In order to meet productivity I had to work off the clock because overtime is not a thing. They expect you to work overtime but will not pay overtime. The only way to get over time is if it is the last Friday of the pay period and there is a crisis at the end of the day that is pre approved. How a crisis can be pre approved? I have no idea since you cannot tell a client “hey have a crisis at this time and day.” They are unethical and only care about making money. They do not care about any of their employees. 

This started as a great place- which ended soon with new mgmt. Pay is poor, benefits okay. I was told 2 weeks before that my job was going away and either myself and others could pick from other positions ( some with different hours/ schedule/ positions not applied for) or could leave. That didn’t sit well with me. Mainly because new director trying to change things. Rarely saw or heard from upper mgmt unless sending out an email about reports or productivity. They hire racist workers who aren’t reprimanded for statements said in the office. I attempted to get a family member hired for a position she was well over qualified for, and never heard back from HR after 2 emails. However director’s own husband was hired for a management position under her department. You will see few minorities hired here (especially in upper mgmt or admin positions). I will say the experience was good in the beginning, starting out as one of my first jobs post grad. Don’t expect the bells and whistles at this place. You won’t be appreciated for your work, they are just looking for work completed more money for them. I would not recommended anyone to work here, even if it was part time. It was hard to even rate one star.

If you're looking for a place to work at, look elsewhere before going to Lifepath. As a current employee, this place has had its up and downs, but mostly downs with terrible treatment of employees. Upper management is biased, unfair, and treats the employees in a disgusting manner. There are so many unethical things that occur in this place.  I would not recommend this place to anyone, and I've worked with them for a couple of years now. RUN AWAY. Trust me. If you try to transfer to another department, good luck with that. Upper management blocks your request, and you won't even get a chance to interview. 
Some of the Program Administrators have no clue what they are doing, and provide unethical feedback to their employees. We are worked to the bone, given unrealistic expectations and then blamed when we don't meet them (because a lot of the times) it's out of our control. I repeat, do not work here.  The colleagues are what make it worthwhile, but they hire incompetent management. The team leads are the ones who seem to have a better understanding of how to care for their employees. 
Hardest part of the job: everything

What felt like a focus on service hours instead of what I thought was best for the clients made me feel uncomfortable. We were told that if we didn't meet services hours we would be written up and demoted. To me, service hours felt impossible to meet. I don't know anyone who met them during my time there. Also, they told us if we worked overtime we'd get written up, making it harder to meet our hours. Eventually, I couldn't sleep at night because I felt like I needed to do things that conflicted with my values to bill more service hours (= get money for LifePath). 

Look online to see upper management's assistants' job duties and salaries and compare them to that of case managers. Remember case managers bring in the money for the company and have notoriously difficult work. You can also find the salaries of upper management and compare it to that of those below them. Make your own decisions. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
🌸 Lifepath is a great place to work. I’ve held  three different positions and each one my managers was very supportive and made sure I got the training I need. They are also supportive of mental health needs as this position can be very stressful.

Working with people with mental health challenges can be stressful. Management and team give lots of support.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
my day is a balance of in person or virtual visits with the individuals we serve and completing documentation. we also work as a team to support the people we serve

Favoritism from management ( the over look things if they like you) it is very obvious
Retaliation is very common
They tell you if you see something say something in training ( don’t say anything because they not only ignore the issue completely but you get retaliated against
Toxic environment / management does not  help when you request it and then write you up for it and make it your fault.  
If you are looking for an environment where everyone is treated equally go somewhere else.
They expect you to work 40 hrs a day do the work that would take 50 hrs to keep up with clients . 
Management is incompetent and pretend not to know the issues when they are made aware of them
It will affect you mentally if you take this job. I would not wish this job on anyone
