A typical day at work requires strong time management while balancing clinical responsibilities, collaboration, and ongoing learning. Through consistent supervision and supportive growth oriented tools, I have learned a great deal about myself as a person, an employee, and a mental health provider. Management has demonstrated a significant and positive shift over the past several years, with meaningful staff engagement in the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of programs, as well as client and staff resources. The CEO continues to lead with visible passion, and the Chief Clinical Officer has become increasingly present in seeking feedback related to clinical operations. This leadership approach communicates a shared and appropriate distribution of ownership across all roles at Lighthouse in supporting clients. The most challenging part of the job is managing high caseloads, but the Sulphur director leads with grace, thoughtfulness, and consistent support. The most enjoyable part of my role is that my creative and critical thinking is not only valued but encouraged, which enhances client engagement and strengthens my ability to cultivate hope and healing with every family I serve.

I am incredibly grateful to work for this company as a behavioral health coach. It truly is unlike any organization I’ve worked for before. The pay is very competitive, and the benefits—especially the insurance—are excellent. What truly sets this company apart is the compassion and leadership at every level.

A typical day is busy but rewarding. There’s a good balance of structure and flexibility, and no two days are exactly the same. The work is meaningful and keeps you engaged. I’ve learned so much in my role, both professionally and personally. I’ve gained valuable skills, expanded my knowledge, and grown in confidence. The company encourages learning and continuous improvement.

Management is supportive, approachable, and communicative. They are willing to listen, provide guidance, and genuinely care about employee success and well-being. The hardest part can be balancing a busy workload, but the support from leadership and coworkers makes it manageable.

The most enjoyable part is the people and knowing the work we do truly makes a difference. Feeling valued and supported makes coming to work something I genuinely enjoy.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Helping the consumers was amazing. The work environment was unhealthy and highly toxic. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Too many consumers on caseload and you never knew the expectations. They changed constantly.  You felt like you could trust no one and supervisors often left you stranded with inadequate help.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It is very toxic and clique. If you don’t fit in or go along with it you’re ridiculed and made fun of.  Supervisors have made aware of this and have done nothing to resolve the situation.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Incredibly busy, and unknown…. I never knew what I would have to do or who’s position I’d have to cover.  The weekend’s especially holiday weekends left you feeling overwhelmed and alone. I would be doing everything from intakes . discharges. safety plans and treatment plans along with ASAMs that was a typical Saturday and Sunday 12 hr shifts.  Monday and Tuesday I filled in at every position and on every shift imaginable.

The leadership supports me by providing me with a positive work culture that prioritizes my overall health and well being. They provide excellent benefits, PTO, sick leave, and an annual floating holiday to support the needs and circumstances of their employees. Lighthouse has a clear vision and purpose by finding a way to provide services to the communities they serve with a holistic approach. They have helped me to develop my career as a licensed alcohol and drug/mental health counselor by providing trainings in best practices for treating clients with co-occurring disorders. They continue to provide me with opportunities to grow professionally and I am excited for my future at Lighthouse!

Lighthouse is all about providing a supportive and rewarding environment for each and every employee. It is not just a job. It is a career!  This is a fast paced mental health facility. We provide community based mental health services across Southern Oklahoma!  The best part of working for Lighthouse is the opportunity to work with so many amazing staff and consumers. There is so much opportunity for personal growth and advancement in the company. The consumers are amazing and having the opportunity to work in the clinic, community, and tele-health settings allows for so much versatility and ability to reach so many consumers that otherwise may not have the opportunity to receive mental health care. I absolutely love that we find a way to ensure that consumers are taken care of first and foremost! 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Sense of a work family and the balance from personal to professional life is interconnecting and fluid with my crew. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
At any time any job can get stressful in mu experience, at this one?  A consumer can always become unruly or just be in a state disregard and may psychologically incompetent to perform in an mannered way. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The company is top to bottom a 'door is always open' type of place with encouragement trickling down throughout for all employees to seek personal growth through the Lighthouse professional missions. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I work nights so it is never the same or redundant. Many nights are relaxed with most sleeping the shift through. But at times it can turn into a marathon that is taxing.

Cliques in every building make you feel invalid and unheard. Overworked, underpaid, undertrained. Extremely high turnover rate means that your caseload is much higher than state standards. Management expects way too much from case managers and counselors without properly compensating them. Everything you do is scrutinized, if you miss a step in the ridiculous “workflow” (which is way too long, overdrawn, and includes unnecessary steps that deter clients from actually entering into services), other good you’ve done is nonexistent. You’re not appreciated for the good you do, only judged by the billing you can produce and to stroke admin staff egos on the “great culture” and processes they’ve put in place that they believe employees love. They are out of touch with the needs of clients and have their priorities completely upside down. Clients don’t care about billing or productivity, and that’s why we’re here, right? For the clients?

Management has a habit of making poor decisions. They do not appreciate or value loyalty, experience or competence. More concerned with "image" rather than consumers, staff and quality programs. "Managers" are abundant, however, "leadership" is rare and "good leadership" is practically non-existent. 
While improvements have been made to the facilities and infrastructure in recent years to improve the image and profitability, programs and quality of treatment continue to take a lower priority. 
There remain a few in administration/management that strive to be ethical, professional and seek to provide excellent services, but their voices often go unheard.

Being employed at Lighthouse Behavioral Wellness Center has been a wonderful experience, true enough the communication through staff can tend to suck just like any employment but overall we try to work together in order to get the job done. What I love most about being on the team is watching the consumers come in and start off at their lowest moments and watch them progress overtime, this may not happen with all that come through but it's the individuals choice to choose and it's our job to keep encouraging them. There are opportunities to grow within the company if you choose to and the support we receive ok, I just administration would see and experience a whole week of what we go through to understand that it's not easy day to day but we keep going.
