My time at LGFCU/Civic FCU was disappointing. Despite claims of embracing technology, the organization feels stuck in the 80s, with stringent dress codes and a lack of innovation. Work/life balance is touted, but conformity and personality often trump actual skills, particularly among managers nearing retirement. DEI initiatives feel tokenistic, with marginalized voices and mandatory team building activities that employees often have to pay for out of pocket. HR seems more focused on protecting management than addressing employee concerns, and the commitment to DEI appears surface-level. If you’re comfortable with conformity, arbitrary titles, and turning a blind eye to issues, this might be the place for you. However, those seeking a progressive, inclusive workplace should look elsewhere.

My tenure at LGFCU/Civic started off very promising but ended up  a disappointment. There was a huge lack of opportunity for advancement. There was a lot of hiring from another credit union and those that were hired just brought over all of their former coworkers with them.  Managers did not care help build up their team members. My manager intentionally blocked my growth and that was verified by other department leaders who wanted to help me.  Human resources department didn't have any interest in helping the employees, especially if they did not like you. DEI committee was just for show. It had absolutely no impact. Yearly merit increases were absolutely embarrassing and they expected you to be happy with it. They did not reward certain individuals like they should have.  If you do not get in good with the right people there then you will not be happy and you will not succeed. It's just that simple.  

This company, while currently spinning off from SECU, is struggling to finds there way.  Went through a full interview process that literally took forever!  I was offered the job and then withdrawn!  The do not  disclose their full processes, their background company is literally amateur hour and takes forever.  The benefits appear to be decent but, paid time off balances is in direct conflict to their work life balance focus!  Don’t waste your time!  I was optimistic but, after reading reviews already it would appear this issues are on going as this company struggles to find their way.  

Very unprofessional process through the offer.  

While there were consistent inappropriate and outdated comments from upper management, along with some microaggressions, the organization is largely made up of kind and well-meaning individuals. However, the leadership’s traditional mindset may limit the organization’s long-term success. Fresh, progressive perspectives, particularly those well-versed in technology, could help address the gaps caused by this outdated outlook. Overall, I would not recommend this organization unless you are comfortable with antiquated corporate environments.

At most organizations, marketing is usually the hip, fun and creative department. Not here. Not by a long shot. This is a group of pearl-clutching prudes and prigs -- most of them lifers -- who aim for mediocrity. And occasionally hit it! What they lack in creativity, communication and teamwork, they more than make up for in the fine art of office politics. So if you excel at backstabbing, gas-lighting and gossiping, all while working hard at pretending to work hard, this could be your forever gig too.

The company is currently restructuring and the IT department is all over the place. No chance for advancement or to gain experience in the environment. There was team of 5 new members including me all of which were there less than 9 months. The one guy that was there did most of the training, but was under pressure to pull his own weight. I don't recommend anyone to work here to try and advance or gain experience in the field 

This is an old-fashioned and management top-heavy company that does not want any creative thinkers working for them. You will feel like you’ve stepped back in time. They lure people in with the benefits, but the pay is mediocre at best. Management is not competent. You will feel trapped and undervalued. 

I was hired right before it transitioned to Civic.  I shadowed an employee on the advisor line for a couple days and was expected to work on my own with no formal training.  I was unfamiliar with policies and procedures.  The ones they did have published were not correct due to updating the systems.  I had absolutely no support.  

LGFCU is a fun and friendly place to work. The company focuses on maintaining a healthy work/life balance and understand the needs of the individual as well as the family. Everyone is very open and willing to help anyone and everyone while still staying true to federal regulation and proper office conduct.

Don't be too passionate about making a change as most changes need to be approved by several layers of management and the compliance/legal department.
Be patient as you explain your understanding of a concept to others, especially those who are clueless, but above you.
