Typical day is spent with them telling you how you are being part of gods bigger plan and that making man whole is their whole objective. You will be under paid and over worked for the work you do. You will be asked to give back from your check to help them achieve their mission. You will be told that this is the best place to work and that there is no need for a union because HR looks out for you. That which is a lie. You will be constantly reminded how lucky you are to have a job there because people are dying to have it as good as you do.You will be reminded how good the benefits are. Which they are not. LLUMC is self insured through RISK management which is a workers comp insurance Co.They will over charge and under pay themselves which is how they show losses and how they can get compensated or get write offs, And how they justify placing liens on employees for losses.  Everytime you go to the Dr. or take your child to the Dr. They will ask you or your child if this is a work related injury. Upon being eligible for insurance benefits you and your wife will be required to take a biometric screening. If your numbers are not top notch you will be placed on plan B which is more money. If you're a smoker and don't take the smoking cessation class and follow up with a dr you will be placed on plan B.  This means more money and less coveage and higher co pays for meds and services.  If you get hurt while working there you will not receive time off of work. If you walk the halls you will see people staff members with broken legs or feet in boots or casts. They will have scooters for one leg and they will be working. Why because getting back on your feet with no time off or lost of time is there objective. They will provide insurance for you and your family at $300 plus dollars a month. The catch is you can only use LLUMC for any medical need. Keep that in mind as you will most likely be seen by a student who is learning or an intern.So if you live outside of Loma Linda you will have to drive back to llumc for medical attention. You can't use any other facility or ER. No one will take Risk as an insurance carrier and risk will not pay for any services provided outside of LLUMC Network. Risk will try to get out of paying for medical services as a result of a Car accident, slip and fall inside of a store front and if you are in a car accident and they provide services and you have a case they will place a lien on you for any compensation you may receive. They do allow you to earn Paid time Off (PTO) and sick days. However you can't access any of your sick time Hours for sick time unless you have banked over 120 Hours. This will take you over 3 years to achieve.They don't have paid holidays . So you will need to use your occured PTO for any holiday that comes up. And before i left they started actually reducing the amount of PTO they allow you to earn. Your ER visits will cost you $200. and some of your life saving meds are pricey. Management does not pay for on call but they have no problem calling you on your personal cell phone on your time off and asking you to come in. if you turn them down your review will reflect. The culture their is different. You need to walk on egg shells as people love firing off emails to satisfy there egos. If someone accuses you of acting or saying something out of line you will be written up and your response to any false allegation will not even be heard. Parking is horrible  and very stressful. It is a ordeal every day. Parking enforcement is very aggressive and they love citing employees and charging up to $150 in parking fees I've seen employes cars tires get booted for unpaid tickets.If you bring your family there for an emergency and don't park in employee parking you will be cited. If you love ones use your vehicle for Dr appointments and they don't park in employee parking you will be cited.They now have cameras everywhere and monitor all areas including some break rooms. This is a very stressful place to work. If you have a good heart they will take advantage of you.Don't fall for it. Get as much as you can before you get in as your raises will not come until after your first year and it will not be significant, HR has uninformed people working there that create policies that violate worker rights. A Lot of the staff at the bottom like EVS are  over worked , underpaid, micromanaged , taken advantage of and treated like second class citizens. It's sad. But rest assured that the CEO and board members are living high of the hog and making millions a year. The Children's hospital does good work as this is their bread and butter. Being as honest as possible. These are facts. This is not an opinion . My personal experience with my management team varied as I went through 4 different managers and 2 directors while working there. Each Dpt. is ran differently depending on who's running it.

Culture: Though ostensibly an Adventist Health organization, which espouses clean living through the avoidance of/abstaining from alcohol, meat, caffeine, pepper, and a few other typical American food and drink choices. However, though these items are not available anywhere in the Loma Linda University Health (LLUH) organization, they are not prohibited from being brought onto campus from outside establishments. LLUH is, for the most part, a relaxed and casual work environment, though business formal dress is the standard. 

Work/Life Balance: LLUH is extremely flexible with time off as long as your work does not suffer.

Compensation: They pay most employees a fair amount less than what many private and public organizations pay. For example, when I was hired, my starting pay was $4 per hour less than the job I had been laid off from two years prior. Only after three years (and a promotion) with the organization am I now making what I made in 2010.

Benefits: While they do provide paid time off at the market accrual rate (which increases roughly every five years), there are no paid holidays, so those hours can be quickly used up during the mandatory observance of federally-recognized holidays. LLUH offers its employees and their dependents medical, dental, and health insurance with lower-than-usual premiums, $20 co-pays, and $5 generic prescriptions through its own medical care facilities. They also offer free employee and dependent memberships to their state-of-the-art athletics facility and reduced fees at all cafeterias when "charging" food to your paycheck.

Job Security: Once hired, it is *extremely* difficult to be let go except in the uncommon cases of departmental restructurings and closing. There are multiple stories of employees that do not pull their respective weight being retained for years, probably due to their reluctance to go through the very lengthy process of hiring new staff.

Advancement: Due to the strong job security mentioned above, it can be quite easy to hit an advancement wall within any given department. However, there are usually a fair number of opportunities within other departments and/or other arms of the organization.

Management: LLUH's management is, for the most part, conscientious of both the organization's and its employees' needs. The organization's needs are, understandably, the first priority, however, it can sometimes be easy for some managers to neglect employees with the larger picture in mind.

A typical day as a supervisor in Loma Linda University Medical Center is summarized in ensuring all guests, visitors and patients receive from our staff the best customer service experience based on the mission, vision, and values of a Christian institution. Having said that, first thing was to have a one on one short meeting with the supervisor of the leaving shift to acknowledge any situation, special event or need that deserves continuity or immediate solution. Information desks, Surgery Host desks, Emergency Department desk, Valet Parking and Volunteer Services are some of the areas under Hospitality Services Department all over the campus, and each area provides different services and has its own characteristics so immediately after the short one on one meeting HS Supervisor on duty need to show accessibility to the employees and ensure all questions and needs from the different areas are covered. Emails need to be constantly checked in order to schedule valet parking special requests or provide special services to patients, VIPs (tours or escorts), guests or special events. Provide the best work environment for our employees is key to guarantee a service that pursuits the excellence day by day. 

Working for 11 year in Hospitality Services Department of  Loma Linda University Medical Center has immensely refined my Customer Service skills specially in such of environment that it is a hospital where the principal goal as a department is to offer the best possible customer service experience, in order to attenuate the suffer or the unfortunate moment that a visitor or patient might be going through, that itself is a noble challenge.

I couldn't have better colleagues in the management department where I met two of the most prepared leaders I ever met. They are very courteous and respectful professionals who gave me the opportunity to grow in my career and have my entire respect.

My nightmare and the worst part of my that job was not to have time enough to help more people during 8 hours shift and the most enjoyable part was to be able to go above and beyond the expectations in providing service with compassion, respect, and confidentiality based on our principals and values.

I would agree with a lot of the reviews here about how poor the management is, how you are really not cared for as an employee, and how the expectations for work product are too demanding.  For starters, I came in at an entry level position, and within 6 months I applied for a higher position in the department.  The director told me after I got the position, that I only got it because I was cheaper than what the other candidate wanted for compensation.  What a great feeling that was to hear!  The Coordinator (who was in the position I was in now, but also moved up) was supposed to train me.  He was too busy with his own work and kept saying that we need to schedule time for training.  I told him that I was available whenever he was and would make whatever times work.  He never got around to scheduling time, and we trained sporadically for my 90 day probation.  Well 90 days came and went, very little training, no 90 day review with management and the director, the coordinator went on vacation and then CMS showed up.  I took point on the survey, and upper management (outside of the department) applauded how I stepped up and handled the surveyors.  Shortly after that, the director calls me in to his office and says that he is disappointed in me, and that I seem to be doing whatever I want.  He also tells me that the Coordinator told him that I wasn't making time for training.  I responded that he was on vacation and I had just taken care of the CMS survey, so how was I supposed to be training during all of that.  The director accused me of "deflecting" and not addressing the training issue.  I told the director that I explicitly told the Coordinator that I would train whenever he scheduled it, but he hasn't scheduled out time daily or even weekly, so I asked: "What am I supposed to do?"  The response:  "You need to make him train you."  Seriously???  Wtf??  I have NEVER had a job where you had to beg to be trained.  This is just one example of incompetence at the management level.  Beware: If another department complains to your manager or director about you, THEY WILL NOT BACK YOU UP.  They will tell you to apologize or throw you under the bus.  This happened to 4 of my coworkers.  Finally, I got pulled into the director's office for clocking out 1 minute late.  1 MINUTE LATE.  Ridiculous.  Work somewhere else.  So happy I'm gone from there.

During my time at Loma Linda Veterans Administration (VA) Hospital a regular flow of patients came through the x-ray department, creating a very steady, and balanced work flow.  Management was very caring and respectful to the imaging staff, allowing for personal time if family emergencies happened to occur to a staff member.  Staff worked efficiently and cooperatively with each other, and myself on a daily basis to have a more overall productive department.  Due to the majority of patients being of the Geriatric category, many patients were unable to be positioned as most patients would under most circumstances, or had difficulty completing examinations.  This allowed for more creative thinking when completing examinations to work around the patients physical limitations.  Performing a high volume of quality exams efficiently to form a steady work flow, as well as continuously learning creative techniques to perform examinations was the most rewarding experience wile interning at the Loma Linda VA.

While training at San Antonio Community Hospital (SACH), I worked with nearly all members of the staff technologists in mobile, trauma, pediatric, fluoroscopic, and surgical examinations.  Management was strict, yet fair to employees, and co-workers were always available to assist one another in exams when needed.  The most enjoyable aspect of working at San Antonio was the ability to keep the department clean, stocked and in order during lulls between examinations, and keeping a fast-paced productive workflow during exams.

Local community hospital with high patient volume and very little resources. This is a difficult place to work. Doctors round on patients for 2-3 minutes and are gone for the rest of the day. Doctors don't follow up on orders or test results. Nurses have to be on top of everything and page Doctors all day long. Doctors at this facility do not put in their own orders and constantly give nurses verbals. This hospital does not have transporters, which means YOU will be transporting your own patients to CT/MRI and will have to stay with the patient, while your other patients are left to fend for themselves. It is very rare that we have resource nurses or break nurses. Nobody breaks you for morning/ 15 minute breaks. For lunch you will hand your phone to a charge, but dont expect anything to be done in those 30 minutes. Charge nurses are often " in the numbers" and will have a full patient load. Charge nurses enforce that full time staff pick up 6 weekend shift, while they work no weekend shifts. High turn around rate. Floors are ran by new grads. New grads precepting new grads. Wanna hear the best part? You will get hired to work on a specific unit, then be forced to float and work in the emergency room,  In their "surg unit" at least once a week. This unit is the worst thing I have ever seen in my nursing life. Feels like you are working in a third world country. Beds in hallways. No supplies. No privacy for patients. No support from staff. Nurses with no charge experience get hired to  run the unit, and provide no help, they just sit in front of a computer and tell you to figure it out. Managers are in meetings all day and provide no support to staff. 

I have never seen a company run so poorly with zero consequences to upper management.  LLUH has been in a financial crisis for years due to poor management decisions, and their leadership has never once been held accountable.  Instead, they constantly slash budgets, wages and hours of their lowest paid employees and demand growth with no resources.

HR exists only to protect upper management.  Management is left completely unchecked.  They can treat their employees however they please.  They also do NOTHING all day.  They hold countless meetings in which they applaud each other on how well they are doing and get no work done.  They have no idea how their own departments function; instead leaving it to their lower employees, and enjoy all of the credit.  However, if something goes wrong, they are happy to blame everyone but themselves.  There is never, ever any acknowledgement of the work that the lower staff put in.  It is a joke.

Leadership constantly spins off blatant lies.  These lies are repeated by upper management and staff are expected to believe them with no question.  The expectation is to always say yes and do what they ask. 
 There is always retaliation for questioning policies.  Pay is abhorrently low as well.  Depending on the entity, there is almost never any opportunity to move up.  If there is, you can guarantee that you will be short-changed and paid less than the person who previously worked in the new position.

There are endless reasons NOT to work here.  The only upside is that there are good benefits.

Assisting the Nursing staff with admissions, discharges and translating. Collect food trays, interacting with patients, visitors, and family members of patients. Always assuring that our patients are turned every two hours and that patient skin stays clean and dry. Very attentive to patients needs, requests and concerns. Keep constant communication with the bedside nurses regarding patients vital signs, weights, intake, output, skin assessment during baths and patients change in status. Kept constant skin management for those patients that were unable to provide self cares and preventing pressure ulcers. Provide teamwork with transferring, ambulating and keep a constant attentive watch for patient safety. 
Assisting the Physicians, nurses and patient care staff with treatments and procedures. Provide Sitter cares for patients that require extra care to ensure safety and comfort. Assist bedside nurses with teamwork for patients with restraints and that may require extra communication to reassess patients that need it. 
Frequent in-service and corporate compliance training to constantly learn and grow. 
Provide comfort measures, and palliative care was one of the hardest learning experiences although unfortunately happened more than often. 
Learning through assisting patients with rehabilitation and patient care was always rewarding to see our patients being discharged with a smile on their face knowing as a CNA that the patient had improved in their healthcare quality.

My day was supporting, assisting, being the right hand to my Anesthesiologist and team including surgeons and any other team if necessary. My main responsibility was to assist my Anesthesiologist. I believe its a very important role, we are very much needed. I learned a great deal of skills and knowledge pertaining to the airway and body functions. There's alot that you can learn out of your normal job responsibility if your willing to do so. If you want to further your career you have alot of supporting members and schooling opportunities. The management is amazing,  yours and other team or specialty management as well. You will always have support and be heared on your matters even if you have personal problems you will be supported and heared no matter what. The management will always try to do what is possible for them and you to help. I absolutely love and enjoy the workplace culture. You will learn alot and feel as if your apart of a huge family. Somedays you will be overwhelmed and exhausted but when you go home and reflect you can be proud of yourself and others surrounding you. Knowing you helped patients rather it be a small surgery or major, to the patients its a very scary and nerve wrecking. You can help them through, help with traumas, it very satisfying. I absolutely loved my job and team members with all my heart and very much miss my "work family". This is a amazing place to work at, you will learn alot and you will never regret working there.

Extremely poor management. Current Director dislikes all former law enforcement applicants because of their knowledge of current regulations prohibiting many of the tasks requested by staff and administration.  

Often requested to hold people against their will (CA PC 236) without a legitimate or legal hold (W&I 5150) signed or pending.

Select supervisors have trained attack K-9's with them which are classified by the State of California as lethal weapons.  This department is not licensed to carry batons, let alone lethal weapons such as trained attack dogs. 

I have witnessed in excess of 500 violations of state laws and/or state licensing during my time at Loma Linda University Security. Violations occur on a daily basis. Administration is aware they are not in compliance with current licensing requirements, yet continue to violate these regulations without consequence. 

This could be a good place to work if they replaced current administration with qualified personnel. They need to adhere to California laws and licensing regulations.  Eventually someone will file a criminal complaint against the false imprisonment violations, crumbling the administration and most likely disbanding the department for it's actions.  A outside contractor will likely take over the security services for the campus and medical center.
