Your experience is definitely affected by the people who work with you, as with anywhere else. The culture is heavily sales-focused. It is common practice for Teller supervisor and manager(s) to stand behind you at the motor bank to listen to your rapport building and critique you, while many customers don’t seem to appreciate the conversation and just want to get out of there. Pressure from customers, supervisor, managers, and upper level management adds up to a heavy load. That’s before figuring in the pressure that comes from trying not to make a mistake; there are thousands of opportunities to make an honest mistake daily that could cost you your job. Culture is cut-throat and competitive; Tellers are treated as numbers rather than people. Customers verbally abuse Tellers on a regular basis. As a part-time employee, it is company policy for you to work 6 days of the week most weeks. Full-time is usually 5 days, but sometimes 6. Part-time gets 5 days paid vacation per year, and full-time gets 10 days. This doesn’t seem fair because part-timers usually work 28 hours a week, which is more than half of 40. Pay is better than most entry level jobs, which makes it hard to leave. It has a way of making people feel stuck.

Each day at LSNB began and ended with a motivating word from our supervisor and various team mates. The atmosphere was professional, neat and tidy along with the smell of fresh coffee each morning. I was taught how to give "above average" customer service skills along with self emotional control. I learned to become an example and a representative of the company outside of regular operating hours. I was taught how to be productive, efficient and tedious in my daily work ethic. I even sharpened my Spanish skills working with the Hispanic clientele. My co-workers were adaptable and fun to be around. Everyone helped each other with questions, problems and advice. The hardest part of my job happened to be not receiving many phone calls in order for me to open up account to meet quota. This was more of a system-to-customer judgment bases because the account application process would not go through if the client did not meet specific requirements on the system. However, the most enjoyable part of my job was the rapport established between my amazing supervisor and fellow co-workers.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Being around helpful hard working creative people. 
LSNB has a family business atmosphere and McAllen is
the gem of the South. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Contributing more than your share when it comes to mortgage loan closures in a given period usually monthly. But this stress is felt at all mortgage companies or mortgage departments.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Family oriented. A family actually owns the bank and mortgage branch. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Call all necessary customers, realtors, builders and RE agents and ask for a name to someone who maybe interested in a home loan. Make those calls and a hundred more. Lunch with a client or builder then back to the office make more calls appointments and close some loans.

The pay is a joke but mandate that you work above and beyond and for free by volunteering  at LSNB events masked as “charities”. Banking centers and corporate offices  are outdated and seem to be purposely designed to make employees miserable. All upper management I came in contact with were insufferable and incompetent. Benefits are garbage! You have to select your vacation days by end of every Feb and is based on seniority so you can kiss major holidays goodbye. You are expected to bank there as an employee or you won’t get direct deposit. Appears to give work opportunity to new hires without banking experience, so if you don’t have experience and LSNB gives you a chance and can’t find work elsewhere take it for what it is (experience) and get out of there asap and find a better job :)

By far one of the best jobs I have ever had. My boss became a real good friend and mentor. He showed genuine interest and care for everyone that worked in the department. The environment was fun, I made great friends while working there. I would have to say my favorite part was the Monday breakfast and Friday goodies. It was nice to enjoy food with coworkers who actually became like family. The supervisors team always listened to any suggestions in making the department a better environment. Everyone was real respectful. I was also able to expand my knowledge about banking; everyone was very knowledgeable and willing to help each other.  I look upon the time I worked there as some of the best times I have ever had in any workplace.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I won't state my personal experience on here but this company is probably the worst job I've ever had, work culture is extremely toxic and turnover is high.  That being said be extremely careful working here.

Every day was a stressful experience.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Not good at all, all across the board the environment is toxic, I had to put up with a lot everyday.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Just a normal bank job except the other stuff that came along with it is what made this company experience terrible for me.

As a part time teller with LSNB you are going to do a lot of on the job training. You do go through two weeks of training once hired but it is just to learn the program and the lingo, everything else you have to learn on the job. Most tellers know the deal, they know you have to learn on the job so they'll help you for a good while until you get the hang of it. Also, the training is M-F on a full time schedule even though you are part time so try not to be busy for two weeks part timers. The weekends of the two week training you will be at a branch shadowing to learn. 

Recommendation: Pay close attention when they discuss checks and hold on checks.

It is a great entry level job (Teller). Training is about two weeks, and you will have yearly trainings. Depending on your location, your team can be amazing and helpful. As any other job, Operations is important. Even though Sales are not enforced, they are still pushed, but they make it fun. The reason I left the company was because of no raise. You come in at 11 with no previous banking experience and unfortunately they did not raise it up. So its very discouraging working at 11 and having to train tellers that start at 13 because of their banking experience, yet you have shown how strong of a teller you can be. Also it feels like they are hiring from the outside more than promoting.

Like any other teller job I've had, clock in, get your cash box, run customer transactions, count your box at the end of the day, clean your station, clock out and do the same thing the next day. You learn how to recognize fake money, how to start conversation with random customers, and be more careful with your money. Management expects you to meet branch goal and show up every appropriately. Work culture truly depends on your coworkers, every branch may be different. Hardest part of the job is making sure you count very carefully. Most enjoyable part of the job is that you have no worries once you step out of the work place.

Typical job 8-5, 9-6 a lot of responsibility since you are dealing with $25,000 or more at any time. There a lot of rules and regulations to follow and as a result there is a thousand ways to mess up. Always keep a sharp eye and pay attention to detail! you get 2 weeks for vacation a year and pay depends on your experience and education they can start you off anywhere from $11-$13 overall this job helps you become a better person and helps you develop skills such as customer service, communication, & cash handling.
