I am very happy and excited to part of the Lyra Clinical Care team!! 

The work environment is very supportive and open to helpful critical feedback. The management team is highly respectful, very encouraging, and consistently supports its employees to continue to grow as clinicians and to provide the highest level of care for our clients. My clinical manager Mar has been truly wonderful to work with. Since I have started working at Lyra, I have honestly never felt like I was being micromanaged but rather supported and respected as a seasoned clinician. I am also very excited to be working under the leadership of the CEO David Ebersman, as well as Suzanne and Rachel. 

I have over 22 years of clinical practice and this has been a truly exciting experience to provide exceptional care with Lyra. The financial compensation rate is excellent as well as the additional benefits provided as an employee. I have been practicing Cognitive-Behavioral therapy for over 22 years and its truly exciting to be working on the forefront of the industry at this time of historical change that has paved the pathway for the expansion of telehealth beyond what was previously imagined. 

Within the platform, I am able to reach clients across the country (where I am licensed) to provided top quality care from the safety/comfort of my home office. My clients love the intuitive digital format Lyra provides through its digital exercises / practices. In addition, the weekly assessments allow for them to have accurate graphs demonstrating their ongoing progress and healing throughout the episode of care. Upon review, all of my client have reported that they feel the digital outcomes graphs are very helpful and provide accurate measurements of the variability they have felt themselves over the course of their treatment. Clinically, it has been very validating and empowering for my clients to visually observe the trajectory of their process of positive growth through these unique digital graphs.

I firmly believe that Lyra Health provides seasoned clinicians the venue to facilitate the best level of care by working with these effective measurement tools. Also the progress notes and paperwork are quite manageable and I do not feel the exhaustion and possible burnout I previously would work through while being in my private practice of over 13 years. Plus, no overhead costs which is also highly beneficial!! 

I sincerely believe due to the high level of integrity of the leadership team and the effective intuitive digital formats Lyra has developed, I am continuing to grow as a clinician to provide the most effective level of care for my clients possible. I am very happy and grateful to be part of the Lyra team and I look forward to many rewarding years with the company!!

I have been at Lyra for about a year and have to say that it's been a breath of fresh air compared to another telehealth platform I came from as a contract therapist. One huge benefit with Lyra is you are an employee and have access to more benefits and support than you do as a contract therapist. They are constantly making improvements, asking therapists for feedback and actually using it, and have maintained in line with their mission despite exponential growth and profits in the last year (see recent Frobes article: https://www.forbes.com/sites/katiejennings/2020/08/25/lyra-health-hits-11-billion-valuation-as-coronavirus-boosts-need-for-teletherapy/#60e5126b6938). 

One of the best parts of Lyra's model is that they hire you in a "cohort" of 7-10 other therapists and you all go through onboarding and ongoing group supervision together. Me and my cohort have our own group text going and lean on each other a lot for support and advice. Our clinical supervisor is also extremely supportive and responsive to difficult cases or anything we need. Having this built in support is wonderful as a therapist working remotely. They also follow a CBT model and have great lessons/exercises/structure to help you be successful in following the model and learning more about it. 

Their pay and bonus structure are also very competitive and have improved since I started. If you are a part-time therapist, you are expected to see 11-13 ish clients per week and paid to write notes, etc. for the remaining 7 hrs (PT providers work 20 hrs per week). I have never seen this kind of work/life balance provided anywhere else. The pros far outweigh the cons working here and I'd encourage anyone who is interested in the remote option to apply! 

The main cons are tech issues that are in constant flux or being improved upon and frequent changes as the company is still new and figuring things out. The good thing about that is almost all changes are for the better! Also, you need to be open to working within a CBT model but there is flexibility, so don't be scared off if you use other modalities, too. 


My experience was that the organization's stated values around employee wellbeing, inclusion, and DEIB did not consistently translate into day-to-day practice. While there was significant emphasis on culture and inclusion initiatives, I found there was often little meaningful, actionable support when employees faced legitimate challenges.

The role itself was already highly demanding, but it was made significantly more difficult by unrealistic performance expectations, constant pressure to meet metrics, excessive micromanagement, and limited flexibility or autonomy. Rather than trusting employees to use their professional judgment, the environment often felt focused on surveillance and performance over sustainable, quality work.

I also observed what I perceived to be inconsistent treatment of employees by senior leadership. Concerns were not always handled in a way that fostered psychological safety, and management approaches at times felt intimidating rather than supportive. This created an environment where employees could feel discouraged from speaking openly or advocating for themselves.

For me, the combination of high stress, limited autonomy, and a leadership culture that did not consistently reflect the organization's stated values ultimately made the role unsustainable.

I'm grateful to have moved on to an environment that better aligns with my professional values—one that emphasizes trust, respect, psychological safety, flexibility, and empowering employees to do their best work rather than managing through constant pressure.

Lyra will sell itself in being a great place to work, but it is just to get you in the door. They underpay all of the BCT providers and management has said during meetings, ‘it’s to get everyone to work harder for the bonuses’. The bonuses are setup on a number of clients to see weekly, which is high compared to other places, and ‘clinical productivity’. This means you are expected to graduate a high number of clients from care each quarter and a certain percent of clients must make clinical improvement before they graduate or drop out of care. The setup feels very similar to a fast food restaurant. You are video recorded for each session unless client says no. Management says ‘the numbers should be easy to get if you’re actually taking care of your clients’. I took very good care of my clients and continued to get positive feedback from them, but still struggled to meet Lyras numbers. They only want the numbers so they can go to big employers and say ‘look at the percent of clients that actually improve here’ to sign more contracts. There is a push to meet numbers or else your performance evaluation is affected. You are expected to follow Lyras checklist for sessions or manager will mark you down on evaluations. Everything you do is monitored, down to how quick you message clients or the number of referrals you make. I completely believe in ethical and evidence based care, but this is just intended to meet numbers for Lyras sale purposes. 

I have loved working at Lyra so far. I work remotely, but still feel very connected to and supported by the company. I started part time and then after 4 months transitioned into a full time position as it was a great fit for me. I love that I have full control of my schedule and can adjust it as needed, and the responsibility is on me to make sure I am meeting my caseload expectations. My cohort of therapists are also a great support network and people I truly enjoy being around-that is one of the things that stands out to me about Lyra: they hire good quality PEOPLE, not just employees. 

I have struggled a bit to adjust to the bonus structure. Caseload bonus seems appropriate, but I struggle with the bonus of graduated clients; some clients need longer term care and I want to treat them within the BCT framework but this can negatively impact my "outcomes" as a clinician which can be a hard balance for me personally. We use CBT, DBT, and other short term EBPs, but I do often feel a pressure for my work with the clients to be "hurried" and to not take on a client if there is not a high chance of a successful graduation (as this plays in to my bonus). I am still trying to find my groove in this space but nonetheless have truly loved working with Lyra, I feel valued, supported and look forward to continuing with the company as they continue to grow. 

Working at Lyra as a Mental Health Coach for 2.5 years was a mixed experience. While the company has a noble mission to make mental health support more accessible, the reality for coaches behind the scenes is far from sustainable.

The demands placed on coaches are overwhelming, leading to widespread burnout. Despite efforts to manage workloads, the company consistently increases expectations, pushing coaches to work beyond their certified scope of practice. This includes addressing complex mental health issues that should be handled by licensed therapists. These responsibilities are not matched with appropriate training, compensation, or support, leaving coaches overworked, disheartened, and depleted.

Lyra’s coaching model has shifted in ways that prioritize cost-efficiency over ethical standards, raising serious concerns for both clients and coaches. Many of us entered this profession with passion and dedication, but the working conditions at Lyra have drained that enthusiasm.

If you’re considering a coaching position at Lyra, be aware that the workload and expectations may take a significant toll on your mental and physical health. While the mission is admirable, the company needs to reevaluate its approach to supporting its coaches before it can truly claim to promote mental well-being in a sustainable and ethical way.

Lyra Health has shifted its focus toward cost-efficiency, often at the expense of employee well-being and ethical practices. Some employees feel their voices are ignored, and the company's leadership lacks genuine support. As one employee mentioned, "Lyra 2.0 has offered us to see 10% more clients OR go part time (no benefits) or quit," with management presenting it as an "opportunity" to earn more despite these increases. This change came from therapists' surveys, but “the questions were carefully crafted to elicit obvious responses," making the feedback feel manipulated.
Lyra Health's shift to cost-efficiency is harming employee well-being. Therapists now face unrealistic demands: “see 10% more clients, go part-time, or quit.” Management frames this as an “opportunity,” despite surveys being manipulated with questions designed to elicit certain answers. The company prioritizes profits over quality care, with employees feeling deceived: “Spin or deceit are not kind.” Therapists are penalized for PTO and must meet unrealistic quotas, “30 sessions a week,” or face pay cuts. With the focus on investor returns and a lack of mental health expertise in leadership, many feel like their concerns are being ignored, “It’s time to pay back investors.” The result? A toxic work culture and decreasing quality of care for clients.

I came to Lyra from a private practice/CMH background. I needed insurance and stability and was not getting this in private practice.   I found the structure and platform extremely helpful . I  have had excellent managers, and co workers. 

 It is true that Lyra restructured last year, and this required more of therapists and coaches.  My understanding is that company was paying out more per session than fees/insurance covered.  I understand that a corporation has to be solvent to continue.  

Nonetheless, I am still happy here.  My compensation is greater than any position I could get as a therapist locally.  I am still able to maintain a small private practice.  I have  work /life balance and support from supervision.  The work is based in CBT practices, however, I am able to incorporate EMDR, IFS, and other modalities.   It is a short term model, and clients are encouraged to return as needed.  Which helps to keep work goal oriented and rooted in evidenced based practices.  

It is not a perfect company, and I am happier now with this remote work than I have ever been previously.  The platform supports good outcomes.  My clients are getting better and report satisfaction. As a therapist, that is about the most I can hope for in my work. 


Once upon a time, Lyra promoted healthy work/life balance, compensated therapists well for their time and was ahead of the curve for telehealth platforms. We now have a new model that states we have to have 30 bookable sessions each week. Therapists are not credited for no-shows, late cancellations or emergencies by clients but Lyra as the company will be. Those of us who excelled in the previous model are facing a pay cut and Lyra management continues to try to spin "their data and math" to say it's equal and the same but it is NOT. I am now facing a pay cut and expected to work well beyond what was expected in previous years.  Lyra is desperate to become profitable and appease the VCs. Startup culture is great until it is not and right now it is not. The morale is at an all time low from those I speak with. 

The clients overall have really shifted as well. The first few years with Lyra resulted in for the most part motivated, higher functioning adults. Lyra has opened the doors, gained more traction with other companies as an EAP provider and Lyra now has the feel of community mental health. Many of the cases are complex where we are still encouraged to work a short term model and not refer out. Seriously?! 

I was a licensed clinical social worker that worked at Lyra. I felt that the caseload every week was high. If you don't have at least 27 clients per week; you don't get a bonus. There is a lot of pressure on data. If your client doesn't improve; you don't get a bonus. There was a lot of pressure from my manager to discharge the client as soon as possible. Therapists would get a bonus for every client that was discharged with a positive outcome.

I did not think that the recording therapy sessions was ethical.  Therapy session were both visually and auditory recorded. Lyra put a lot of pressure on me to get my clients to consent to having their therapy session recorded.  Obviously, the clients had to consent to this. We were evaluated on how many clients said yes to having their therapy session recorded. Managers would then review the video session and give the therapist feedback.  Obviously, a lot of my clients said NO because who would want to be recorded talking about personal trauma, or things that you are struggling with. 

I felt that I was micro-managed for positive data numbers. Data was pushed heavily.
