Please note , this is a factual based review for your consideration. My statement reflects the concerns of both employees and clients (nursing homes they staff  ) now  to the meat : the communication at the Westbrook location is poor. Likely , they may be more understaffed than the agencies they seek to staff. This is significant because when calling them for shifts , cancellations, work opportunities they do not pick up the phone. This is significant because you end up missing out on work . And due to the failed communication they end up not informing the facilities that you have experienced an emergency and cannot come in(in short you will appear to be a no call no show despite the fact you called ) Secondly agencies frequently are wary of using this agency due to the above issue, I.e informing the agency they may need to cancel the nurse , the nurse shows up and they are forced to pay show up pay due to staff at MAS Westbrook not picking up. This has been reflected across multiple facilities. Secondly this is one of the lowest paying agencies in the state of maine. (5-6$ less an hour then the competition) Most other agencies want you to work so they offer higher pay , better benefits as well as the ability to bargain your wage when trying to levy your paycheck against the desperate needs of facilities. Arguably,  the other higher paying better benefited agencies have the same facilities. With that being said I am unsure why MAS would be an option. Lastly, there is no guarantee you will get paid on time , me as well as several agency members have voiced concerns about missed paychecks. The staffing coordinator will attribute it to processing errors and delays in the system . You will need to chase her to correct it . The one good thing MAS does have going for it is their forgiveness factor , if you are a frequent no call no show/call out / extremely late employee you will never get fired(I know this because after switching to the better agencies I’m baffled how the same no call no show MAS employees stay on the schedule ) . I wanted to voice that because not all agencies nurses are in it for the money or the benefits some want to work but want to work on their terms . In summary, it’s a large corporations run by the red tape that makes most corporations what they are (robotic , cheap , mass production less quality). 

FYI: Someone whose job it is to respond to less than ideal reviews will likely respond to this and point out the value system that is written in the chapter book of MAS book of conduct. I do not blame them this is their job they are being paid to redirect your incentive to work here despite my honest review . I am not getting paid to be truthful or not truthful . I am sharing with you the truth about this company , you decide ....

I worked with this company for about 7 months as a traveling physical therapist. I've worked with multiple other companies and am an experienced travel PT. Unfortunately, my time with MAS was the worst experience I've had as a traveler, period. The director, HR, and account managers all had difficulty responding to emails (not like in a timely manner, just like at all). I had to hound people for several weeks to finish assignment paperwork, to be reimbursed for my license as promised, to be reimbursed for multiple things I was promised reimbursement for. I was frequently paid wrong, having to contact the company to fix hours or overtime pay. As a result of all of this, I spent the first two months of my contract frequently contacting MAS to get things done that should have been done before the contract began, or fixing things that never should have gone wrong. There were so many errors at this place I kept a timestamped list of correspondence in case there was ever a legal investigation or a contract dispute. MAS will get you to the location you want to go, but they don't vet their contracts to ensure its a quality location, and they contract with some shady locations, so beware. The director himself behaves like a used car salesman, he will engage in a power-play, he will attempt to bully you, promise you things he can't deliver, and seems to completely lack insight of the fact that he is doing so. I can't recommend against working with MAS enough, there are a million other travel companies with great travel work experiences out there, go with one of them.

I have worked off and on with them for a few years now. I came back to work for them because they seemed to actually care and be organized when initially meeting to come back. My first time working with them I never had to worry about hours because I usually got overtime. This time I have worked for them for almost 3 months and haven't even gotten 40 hours. Training pay is minimum wage which is absurd, you get better training pay at the facilities if you work directly for them. No way to qualify for insurance when you cant get the hours to qualify even when you give them plenty of availability. The westbrook office needs some serious help. Also, they are not good at explaining what kind of places you will get sent to so you are fully aware of what you need to be specific about when filling out what schedule you are looking for. They drill communication being so important but seriously lack in communication. I have now been waiting this entire month for a word back on schedule and have heard nothing. This is after several emails and phone calls. This company is showing it hasn't changed at all. Thankfully I have other jobs or my kids and I would be homeless and without food. This company needs some serious help in office staff. All the employees I have met on the field are great! Have become friends with several outside of work. All of us feel the same. The office staff is not caring, unorganized and basically worthless. Oh let's not forget I tried to report out an incident like I was supposed to since the facility did not report it and I still got no support. Reported directly to DHS myself since I got no help from the company. Great way to support mandated reporting when you dont even respond to us trying to report issues like we are required by law.

MAS Medical Staffing used to be a fantastic place to be part of. The atmosphere was enjoyable and held a "work hard, play hard" mentality, and folks stuck around because they genuinely enjoyed it. Our leadership was supportive, the benefits were great, and there was plenty of room to grow. However, a shift happened when a private equity firm acquired MAS and introduced new faces into the mix.

These newcomers appear to be pushing out the dedicated, long-standing employees who played a crucial role in the company's growth. Nowadays, stress is on the rise, communication has dwindled, and burnout is becoming all too common. Turnover rates have skyrocketed, and it's disheartening to feel like just another face in the crowd.

You deserve more, my friend. I wholeheartedly recommend exploring other job opportunities that will truly value your talents and well-being.

MAS is a good agency to work for. I found the schedulers and the owner to be supportive, direct, and open. 
I would be provided with a list of available places, and shifts to work from which I could choose. This made for a great life/work balance; especially since I was taking care of my own mother at home, and had two teenage children.
I learned to adapt quickly, and successfully to new work environments. I have always been a self-starter, so this suited me well.
Assignments often went on for quite a while (one for 6mo, another for a year) if I chose them, so I was also able to get to know some facilities, and job roles (eg: Nursing Adm. at Assisted Living) very well.
The hardest part of the job was not being able to take as many shifts as I would have liked to at times. The most enjoyable was the variety, the support, and the consistency of the assignments.

Employees from NH, VT, and MA seem happy, but the Maine division is terribly mismanaged by people who are extremely unprofessional and underqualified. The company itself is an unorganized mess. None of these places are on the same page about anything at all. They seem to only care about making money, not individual employees. There are a few smart people that work here and actually make things run smoother, but this company is filled with rude, unprofessional, and poorly spoken people for the most part. 

You can never get ahold of anybody, it takes weeks to get any issues fixed, the rules change depending on the day and depending on the person. This was a really unstructured, difficult place to work.

Working here is like being in high school again, either you fit in or you're made to feel like an outcast. Microsoft teams is regularly used to have lengthy text and GIF sessions that don't relate at all to work. Often the messages are very unprofessional and filled with innuendo and crass while at the same time being very distracting. Management also participates in these message sessions. There is very little training and what is provided is haphazard and disorganized. There is a lot of pressure to hit unrealistic performance goals but no direction from team leads other than "make more calls." Weekly sales meetings are more like a locker room at halftime where the team is losing and the coach is angry and verbally aggressive/abusive.  MAS keeps hiring new recruiters but doesn't invest in their current employees. Overall, the stress isn't worth the low pay.

I worked  per diem  for MAS for 2.5 years as a LNA and absolutely loved it.  The app makes scheduling shifts extremely easy. There are plenty of shifts available and the pay is decent.  They have 24/7 schedulers so you can always reach someone.  You get to pick the facilities and make  your own schedule.  

My absolute favorite part is the huge variety of facilities available to pick up at. I have worked in settings such as group homes, rehabs, assisted living, memory care and nursing homes. I have learned  so much over the last few years and my skills as an LNA have gone through the roof.  I’m very confident in all settings now. 

The only downside is you must pick up every month or you’re deactivated. I took a month off to go to MNA school and now have to restart the entire hiring process (with references and everything). Other agencies don’t have such a requirement so I might as well on board with them.    I do miss MAS though. 

A typical day at work, is going 15 minutes earlier, taking reports from nurses, prioritizing my care, performing the nursing process, and finally evaluating my patient reporting assessment findings to the doctor, administering medication,  including insulin, performing Iv, and admissions. I learned how to work collaboratively with other Healthcare professionals, by communicating effectively. The management care about the employees wellness, offer incentives, flexible time schedules. The workplace culture had a friendly atmosphere, teamwork, raises the morale of the employees for better patient outcome.  In my opinion, I enjoyed working, and the most enjoyable party of the job was the teamwork, when we all helped each other to get the work done. When working with short staff, there was a high nurse to patient ratio.

The only stressful thing that I found was it wasn't the company themselves it's when they canceled our company or employee within the last 30 minutes and we were already on our route to the job or there

The environment is great at the main office but we travel from place to place the culture is fine

Again we travel to different facilities so we can't really talk about the company itself cuz we travel but when we go into the office it's very warm welcoming
