MGM healthcare is run from an authoritative management style that does not consider the value employees provide.  Leadership of the facilities they own fear corporate, and the executive management team focus more on the financial side disregarding the work culture and lacking quality care for the patients.  Executive management are deceitful and have communicated the need to lie about salaries when discussing hiring of the new staff.  They are reactive to regulation requirements from the governing bodies locally, in the state, and federally as well.  In turn the executive management fosters administrators of their facilities to act the same way which takes away the ability to provide optimal care for the patients in their care.  MGM Healthcare needs education on conscious capitalistic theory approaches to organizational management and find servant type leaders that can create work cultures where staff want to work and where staff feel valued as employees and people.  They pay for staff from top to bottom is abysmal when compared to their competitors.  They lack reporting to government agencies which keeps their reviews available for most consumers to compare facilities with from HHS websites.  

I felt like I was misled by management during my interview and orientation. My four days of training was a complete joke, co-workers lacked professionalism due to gossiping and bickering amongst each other. No one worked together unless you were part of the "middle school clique"

The only enjoy that I had on a daily basis was some of the residents especially the ones who were thankful and lonely.

Most of the nurses on staff were rude. During my "training" it seemed like no one really seemed interested that I was there, I was deserted most of the time when the "trainer" would take their "10th" smoke break of the shift or disappear for 45 minutes and come back saying that they were looking for coffee filters.

When I answered call lights and the patient was complaining of pain, I would report it to the nurse, all I got was an attitude.

I felt belittled most times by several co-workers, being that this was my first nursing home job and not knowing several techniques as though of others who have been a STNA for 20 years.

I decided that going back as Home Health Aide was definitely the right choice for me.

If you can handle nasty female co-workers and unresponsive nurses, this place is right for you.

I love the Residents and the facility is comfortable to work in. Management thinks of me as a body and seems out of touch with what is actually going on. Everything is on paper, no electronic medication records. Nurses chart on the computer but most nurses here do not know the general guidelines for Medicare charting and there is zero oversight. Tons of gossip and complaining. Most of the nursing staff is agency and most don’t return. They hire people they have fired previously. There is no discipline for staff who no call, no show. Communication is seriously lacking between shifts and between workers and management.

Too many Residents to be cared for safely by the staff scheduled. Concerns brought to management are rarely addressed. Lots of Residents with Dementia who should be in memory care due to behaviors and safety concerns. High turn over rate for management positions.

Decent wages, don’t know about benefits because even though I’ve addressed it with management and corporate I have yet to receive enrollment papers. 

The majority of the Residents are wonderful and it is very sad that staffing is so short. They deserve better.

I have had success managing facilities of all types during my career.  MGM is the first company i have worked for that controls almost every decision - giving the administrator the responsibility to be successful without giving the authority to make decisions that will help their administrators to be successful.

MGM is a new corporation, approximately four years old, that owns approximately 35 facilities in the mid-west.  The company is led by a CEO and other corporate level managers that are solid in their area of expertise.  MGM provides support through a number of regional consultants such as nursing, marketing, and facilities management.  They have provided a reasonable wage and benefit program and recently added a quarterly bonus program for the Administrator, Marketing Coordinator, Director of Nursing, and Office Manager.

I have been fortunate to work with a strong leadership team at Oakland Manor that has enabled us to be successful in many ways.

The hardest part of the job is providing numerous reports, many of which are redundant, to the corporate level employees.

The best part of the job has been interaction with residents, families and staff.

Wow, where to start...if your reading this I.sincerly hope you listen to this warning.  This is the most unprofessional "professionals " you will ever come in contact with. They promise you great pay and fantastic bonuses...thats the ONLY way they get nursing professionals in the door. Once your in...you will question, your morals, dignity and fear for your liscense and lively hood.  Staff can be dangerous, drug dealing, physical fights, staff sleeping on the job in thier cars. The Administrator and DON are about as low class as they come. You will be held accountable for unrealistic expectations and set up to fail.  No proper training, they make up policies as they go. You worked hard to become a nurse do not let them wreck all that is good within you. Patient care......what patient care....its all damage control. Never enough staff, so never quality care for these poor patients. Sad, sad and more sad. I plead you to stay away. Oh and good luck getting your pay on time or paid for the actual hours you work.  If they dont agree with your clock in time, they just remove it all together.....it's crazy they're open. Pathetic, sad, worthless. That is all...BEWARE

Since I was in housekeeping my primary duty was to clean all the rooms  and dining area in a small amount of time.  
Thankfully I was not a CNA and did not have to associate with the residents on a one-to-one basis ( no cleaning butts directly).  
I would get in trouble for helping out the residents by getting them supplies as in disposable underwear, bed pads, towels and other supplies that the CNAs were too busy or didn't want to get.  
The nurses were very nice to me at least but my two direct managers did not understand the importance of giving small praises.  Majority of the time the only time I heard anything from the managers was either when duties were changed or when I was not doing a good enough job.
The job requires thoroughness and speed I was not quick enough and I grow excessively tired and that's what ended my job. 
Depending upon the department how well management was/is.

I worked in their skilled unit,had an aide that would sleep most of her shift, or disappear from the building for hours and not tell any one she left. Hired and fired there three different times for the same reasons. Management aware of what she was doing, aide was written up multiple times, nothing done. I was brought into the DON's office, she turned all my accusations I made against this aide, abandament, neglect, she accused me of these accusation. Told the DON about the threat of bodily harm I encountered the night before from another aide that had told me the aide that sleeps doesn't do any rounds until the end of the night. I had said what she had told me to this aide and she came at me with her fists but held back by another aide, yelling out that I had ratted on her, As she was walking down the hall she was high fived by the other nurses on the floor .I was asked the next morning to come into the DON's office. There she turned it all around on me, accusing me of  abandament, and abuse. Suspended me then told me she would be looking for something to turn me into the state for,

MGM as a company is great - it is the management at Spring 
Valley Health & Rehab that is questionable.  The renovation that started in the summer keeps changing - which does not help the community.  Projects are not stopped before the next project is started - all while patient care is supposed to be a priority.  When other staff does not do their job - or does something that shouldn't be done, and that falls on other staff members - this causes a great deal of stress.  That employee is not counseled or held accountable - this tells me that an employee can do (or not do) whatever they want without concern.  When upper management pulls an employee away and instructs them on what they should and shouldn't be doing...yet does not talk with the supervisor of that employee - that does not show support or team work. Resigning was a very hard decision to make - but not once was I asked why I was leaving.  That alone tells me a lot about the management.  I would not recommend working at Spring Valley Health & Rehab.

They just made KWQC news. You can google it. I worked 50 hour weeks for months at this facility due to short staffing and they refused to allow agency in the building to give their regular nurses a break. The pay is good but it's merely hazard pay. You will definitely have to cover your tail everyday, every decision. They have no problems attacking staff and shifting blame right on down the ladder to save themselves. Patient care is horrible. Infections and wounds galore. The only activity is bingo and prizes have to be donated because there are no funds to buy even stuff from the dollar store. Biggest indicator of a bad facility is the smell. It's awful!! Obviously they have a bad reputation, which means they will accept any patient to keep census up. They take ANYONE. Lots of behavioral issues due to ex heroin addicts and lots of patients who's "friends" bring drugs into them. Definitely not worth the money.

I have worked for this company for awhile now and it is under new management. Everyone told me NOT to work for this company...but I thought I would give it a chance. Horrible mistake. CONSTANTLY short staffed! Management will leave you on the floor as the only CNA with 50 residents! And then you get yelled at if everything is not done on time. There is no way to properly get everyone taken care of when you’re the only CNA on the floor. The only time management comes out of there office is to complain at you or when visitors are there.  The attitudes you get from management are terrible. They will pull someone off the floor for an office position and not hire anyone to fill their position which causes more work for the CNAS. My advice to anyone looking for a job as a CNA would be to avoid this place!
