Health care is an ever-evolving and changing field, which makes it interesting to cover on a day-to-day basis. You can go from cell therapy one day to vaccines the next. Always something interesting to learn and write about. 

The job is fairly flexible. The goals are set forth, training is given, and then associates are left to get there the way that works best for them. I personally like that flexibility. If I know I need to write X amount of articles, I have no problem getting there between morning and afternoon news drops. 

Since starting here, I learned more about how clinical trials are ran than I ever even knew existed. The passion seen from the doctor's is amazing. I also learned technical skills in the form of SEO, video/podcast editing, and some social media/marketing basics. The variety of the tasks and focus areas is my favorite part of the job by far! 

The workplace culture is one where others are friendly and help each other out. It is very friendly and everyone is on similar things, which makes for great conversations. My co-workers have answered every question and are nice to interact with. Management is present but busy, there are a decent amount of meetings and the bigger their role gets the more they have. They have meetings set once a quarter to check in (interchanges) and my direct manager meetings with me frequently. They give you the tools to succeed and let you run with it but they are also always there to answer questions (if you're bold enough to ask). 

Work-life balance
For those individuals in Sales don’t expect to have a life outside of work. For all others, don’t expect to be treated with respect.

Pay & benefits
The pay is stagnant. The benefits are expensive whether you’re an individual or paying for a family. Expect 75% of your pay to go toward your healthcare. The 401K is abysmal.

Management
It’s an old school family business. I mean only the family is taken care of.

Overall
Overbearing upper management and daily reports to the CEO. Don’t expect to be treated with respect. The very top is involved in everyone’s business like a preschool teacher watching over their classroom. The benefits are not beneficial to your life or retirement.

As an editor, it's a great first professional publishing job. You get to write on fascinating topics, though depending on the publication you're with it can be extremely technical or tedious writing at times. You get to travel and interview people from all over the country and world. 

At the same time, you'll often encounter unreachable goals, contradictory directions, and uneven management--and some managers who will throw anyone under the bus to keep their spot intact. 

Hired straight out of college in a sales position with over 12 others in my hiring class. The "sales training" is minimal but expectations are through the roof. No support, or respect and little direction in what is expected of you. It wasn't until I left that I realized I was being grossly underpaid, and benefits were wildly expensive. Less than a month in and there was already another huge hiring class. Seems like the hire a lot and hope that some stay- without giving the original hires the support or attention they need to succeed.

Weird. MJH is a great employer but their brands may be a good or bad experience depending on management.

A lot of work; mostly planned or assigned tasks but also random work thrown your way.

Hybrid schedule / flexibility

No promotions and no rewards for hard work. Small bonuses 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment is an open floor plan. Little to no privacy and the culture is very dog eat dog. Everyone is only looking out for themselves

This is one of the worst company I ever worked with. Minimum salary with high work load, awful compensation package, highly toxic environment. This company doesn’t care about your productivity rather they care how many hours you work or play with your laptop. Everyone just try to bully and stay in power.
Not a good placed if you care about career growth and meaningful mentorship

The MJH brand catalog is vast: spanning every disease state under the sun. As an editor covering these various brands, I certainly learned a lot, but most times, it felt like a lot (too much). There were plenty of people in my team who were supportive, and that is one of the biggest parts of this company I will miss - the people! 

The HR side in NJ works very hard in giving the entire company general trainings but Management in MD has the opposite of an open door policy, very difficult to get the proper help from Management when you onboard in the first 90 days.  Due to this their turnover rate is incredibly high.   Toxic work environment due to Management style.  

There are some basic things about the culture of the company that seem off par with most companies these days - very limited PTO, health insurance lag time, few Federal holidays, other benefits compared to working at a non-profit are suprisingly poor including no group life insurance policy.
