I went through extremely poor training that did not prepare me for the overwhelming and chaotic caseloads I was assigned. There is massive employee turnover, I was given cases that had been sitting untouched for months. Myself and other team members were yelled at for not fixing everything immediately, despite management allowing these cases to go unreviewed for long periods of time before I got the cases. 

I will spend days dealing with angry clients and families who are understandably frustrated after losing benefits unnecessarily because of the company’s failure to do its job. The lack of client care and communication is so obvious that even outside providers regularly comment on and complain about it.

Supervisors do not review plans or provide meaningful support—many clearly do not understand the work themselves—yet they constantly micromanage. I was a strong hard working employee, who consistently met and exceeding unit expectations, but was targeted and a high performer who was labeled a “financial burden” and pushed out.

I was routinely asked to cover cases more than an hour and a half away with no appreciation or support. I covered cases across five counties in Maryland, driving up to 65 miles one way without complaint. However, after I moved just 11 miles outside the county, I was told my employment was being terminated—something that was never an issue when it benefited them.

Management find ways to force numerous good employees out or make us quit, even when I was meeting all expectations. While working there I observed entire management team being disorganized, uncaring, and demonstrating the worst communication I have seen in my career. As one example, I was asked to leave, then called the day before my last day and asked to stay two additional days because they were unprepared to transfer my clients.

They provided me with no motivation to stay with this organization. They showed no genuine care for their employees or their clients. This was the worst professional experience I have had in over 20 years working in human services.

Working at MMARS made me feel that the company prioritized their fraudulent data and "scores" over employees and clients.  The company over-loaded me with cases (35 was suppose to be the max as stated in training, but I had over 60 and the number was growing). This negatively impacted the level of care I was able to provide to each client. 

I was also frequently encouraged to complete false documentation regarding clients and their services due to document backlogs. The QA team will (rudely) harass you at all times during the workday, interrupting the work flow, and insist you immediately complete their requested tasks due to the company trying to keep their document submission scores high. The QA team also very frequently insisted I complete documents regarding events prior to my employment there and many of the Supervisors were less than helpful with navigating various client issues. 

The overall feel of MMARS is that it is a greedy company looking to gain as much income as possible from accepting an excessive amount of clients which causes the staff to be overloaded and overworked. Many of my client issues were never resolved and the clients are extremely disgruntled. 

Upward mobility is possible here if you "adjust" your billing, and don't dig deep into client issues as to have time to complete all paperwork. (what they care about)

I gave years of my life to this company, as I believed in its core values. However, it never bounced back from the damage COVID brought and has only gone drastically downhill since. If you’re looking for a job where you get rewarded for not doing your job, then this job is for you! If you are unable to meet deadlines, unable to be internally or externally motivated, and just generally are not a good worker, then this job is for you! If you are looking for a job that lacks accountability, this job is for you! If you fail to meet your duties here, it will be ok, as that work will be forced upon another, more successful worker until they crack! If you’re looking for a job where communication is as effective as the Telephone game, then this job is for you! If you are looking for a job where you can succeed and grow, this is not the job for you. Also, loyalty is not rewarded here, no matter how hard you work or how good you are at your job. In fact, you may be one of the first to go, most likely with minimal notice (sent via an email because you’re not good enough for a call) when the rest of the company is not meeting their job duties. MMARS enjoys implementing many (delusional) changes, often within days of each other. While the actual work itself can be rewarding, the pressures to meet their billing requirements can be too much. Working from your home office is a perk, as is mileage. And the benefits aren’t terrible - if you are single with no kids. 

During my tenure at MMARS I loved what I did, previously working for a state provider made the transition as a Supports Planner smoother. MMARS has a wonderful training team and I enjoyed my training the best 3 trainers in the March class. Training is about 4 weeks and it's very informative. One thing I wish they went more in depth about was the CO waiver. Once training was completed I was given cases that hadn't been touched in years but quickly got them up to date, enjoying the work you do is more rewarding than staying somewhere for a check. MMARS offers mentors during your first 90 days and immersive support. Even the APM  W had amazing tools for their SPs to be successful. I had a great mentor 
LQ that was there for me when my SV BC was busy with his own workload. I had a wonderful SV BC that was very supportive and knowledgeable and if he didn't know PM DT was always there to save the day. Overall I enjoyed my tenure at MMARS for the short time I was there before my health failed me. The company operates such as any business with emphasis on billing and holding their staff accountable. If you are organized, client oriented and have a care for geriatrics you will be fine as long as you maintain your case load. I would recommend anyone to start at MMARS because you can learn a lot from the intellectual leaders they have.

What is the best part of working at the company?
In the beginning, it was great, but they don't pay a salary, they pay in units. They have not obeyed the expense increase via the IRS, they give you over 70 cases and not the standard 60. They say they listen, but they do not.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
They overload you with cases, and although they say they listen to your suggestions, ideas, and visions they do not. You can't even have an opportunity to get a response from the director.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
You never get to meet your coworkers, only the ones on your team, they did at one point have staff meetings but, they probably cannot afford to rent the space anymore due their budget. That is probably why they switched from salary pay to paying you by units. They did not even fully explain what that resembles.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Working from home, contacting clients, and billing, you work so hard for your clients and still do not get the recognition that you deserve from the company. Visits can take up to 3 hours one way and you get chastised for clocking out after 5 pm. You have to have all those visits in by 10 am the following morning.

I started at MMARS when they first started providing DDA services. I dedicated over 8 years, provided great quality work, and then, out of nowhere, I was slapped with news that my role was being terminated. No communication was provided prior, no team discussions were made, or insight into what my work lacked. When you see reviews stating that great quality work is underappreciated, company loyalty overlooked, going above and beyond... pointless… a fear of job security on a day-to-day basis... Listen and keep scrolling. Ive watched great dedicated workers who wholeheartedly enjoyed the value of the work MMARS has to offer get terminated without warning. It’s a gut puncher and a total traumatic experience to go through when blindsided. So to avoid their lack of transparency, I am gladly publicly sharing that all of the reviews that match mine are 100% true. There are a plethora of DDA providers in Maryland that not only pay you your worth but also take pride in their staff and what they bring to the table. If you are interested in work trauma and work PTSD, then stop what you are doing and apply here. If not, keep scrolling.

The job came along at the right time but it was not for me. There were to many signs. I was approached by a long term employee who wanted me to assist them in finding another job. I received cases from Supports Planner who were in the training class before me and after me who quit. I received a case which belonged to someone in my training class that quit. WOW!  I can honestly say the training and trainers were very good! The trainers took the time to explain a topic and program that most of us knew nothing about. There is a mentor program which pairs you with  an employee to help you out, answer some questions and be a morale booster.  I hope MMARS continues with the mentor program. My downfall was my bad supervisor. Honestly, this person was absolutely terrible.  Please vet your supervisors a little better. as well as any SP that wants a QA or a RE position. Everything is not for everybody. This person was very wishy washy and I feel was personally telling me wrong things and making me go over hoops as if I was in the circus.  Even the supervisor's old clients thought that my supervisor was a terrible Supports Planner when they were a Supports Planner. 

I have mixed feelings about this company but over-all this company is atrocious. To start, MMARS/MMARSRC does not provide any type of medical services despite what the name might lead you to believe. This company only hires workers to arrange services for people that qualify for them, simple as that. All of the employees work off site except for a small office Team. If you’re looking for IT work here, I would recommend looking elsewhere. You’ll be on a small Team of maybe one or two other “Technicians” that really don’t know what they are doing, and will gladly throw you under the bus when the opportunity presents itself. There is a culture of distrust and general feeling of being “another number” when working there. Expectations of growth are extremely low. The business itself seems to have no desire to move any further than being a small family business. If you're looking to get one of the higher positions in this company with the executive retreat perks, think again, it's only reserved for Family and Friends. I would give this company Half a Star, but it’s a job.  

I worked at MMARS for years as a CCS. I enjoyed my job, had excellent relationships with my families, and my cases were worked on well. There has always been a problem with high turnover and having too many cases, which I was willing to overlook because I was able to work from home and get pretty decent benefits. However, with the changing of the program manager came a complete shift in priority. It all became about billing billing billing. Things we were previously told would be fraud were suddenly okay if worded the right way. Praise and incentives were provided for billing, even if the coordinators were terrible at their jobs in every other way. If you are someone that genuinely is interested in furthering the lives of clients, MMARS is not for you. Moving up in the company means painting your hands red because they are all red flags who gossip in the office about how terrible the coordinators are. I sold my soul to work here and just couldnt take it anymore. 

The perks seem great until you're working here and being micromanaged. They provide a laptop, cell, and printer. They also provide toner. You need to buy paper and bring receipts to get reimbursed. 
The only good things about this job was the amount of training, helping the individuals and not having so much ware on my car from being able to work from home. They require you bill min 30hrs per week. There is a high turnover rate. Your caseload will primarily consist of clients whose visits are way overdue due to the previous case manager and then you are expected to bring them up to date immediately.  If you don't, you'll get blamed for it. Family members of clients are often angry because they've had so many case managers for their loved one. If ppl arent quitting, they are getting fired. During the interview they will tell you your caseload will be x amount of clients but in reality add 20 to that. They say its like a family there but its not.....unless you think of a dysfunctional one. Do yourself a favor...dont waste your time here.
