Investigate very carefully before you do it. Realistically, if you don’t have 50 to 100 K in the bank you’ll stay in debt. The hours are extremely long there’s no getting around it. If you think about it, vacation very tough. You have to find someone you trust explicitly to handle your route if you do get to go on vacation.I was fortunate enough to have the funds going in where I could take a day off here and there. I left the job honestly because of pure burn out. The company preaches life balance. But if you want to make money the hours and time are required. When I walked away, I walked away with a probably a -250 K. That includes minimal money on return tools the depreciation from the truck and money is left on the street with customers. Once you leave the business people (Customers) stop paying.
 If I can leave one bit of advice for someone getting into this business. If the customer can’t paid it off in six months it goes to Mac credit.

Pros:

The regular employees treat everyone like family, and try to help each other where they can. 

It’s a Monday through Friday for a majority of agents unless cases have fallen behind in which some agents are required to work Saturdays for a few hours. 

Health insurance is okay, and depending on family size is affordable.

Cons:

The atmosphere with management can be extremely toxic, and uncomfortable at times. 

The amount of pressure put on people to preform beyond the original hired tasks leave employees burnt out, making for an extremely high turn over. 

Pay freeze has been in affect for three years, and employees are not justly compensated for the additional work they are focused to take on.

There is a vast amount of disfunction occurring due to mismanagement. 

Multiple large layoffs have occurred without warning to staff, or to prior field agents. 

Employee feedback is not taken seriously.

Demanding yet rewarding career... I started as a franchisee under a individual franchise with multiple routes, in the end I wish I would have started the business as my own franchisee... Probably would still be there today... The 1-2;years is a lot of work getting yourself and a route established.. then it starts to pay off as the business works itself as you allow it, room for growth and achievement. Have to manage money well and be good at collecting it too... You are in control of who you lend to and for how much.. As a distributor you are a truck driver, inventory specialist, marketing specialist, bill payer, bill collector, repair person, sales person, repo specialist, detailer, to sum that all up a one person business, 

Collecting debt is the hardest as well as taking time off. If you miss a day, it is hard to get the customers to make a double payment on your next visit. Financing large items is supported by Mac Tool Finance and is based on customer credit worthiness. Day to day financing is up to the distributor and is VERY important not to allow to much credit to each customer. They may not be there the next visit. They may end up on another distributors truck but it is not always easy to get back the money they owe you when a new debt has been established with the new distributor. All in all it is a good company, you as an independent distributor must run your business DAY to DAY and be very careful not to put to much unpaid product in the field. 

First thing is I look at cases that have been assigned to me.  I solve the issue with the cases at hand and close them.  Log myself in for any incoming calls and help with all student tech orders that have been mailed or faxed in throughout the day.

I have learned how to work in a team environment and to value opinions and to be very open minded.

I get along very well with my co-workers and have little or no issues with them.

The hardest part of my job is to try and keep a level head with the fast pace workload that comes in through phone calls or student orders daily.

The most enjoyable part of my job is being able to help our our customers that call in and seek out our help to continue their business with us.

You must be organized and prioritize your day in order to get things accomplished. Working 10 to 12 hours a day is not out of the ordinary to accomplish a task. When in management you must create a positive environment were everyone feels apart of the team. As a leader you must adapt your management style for different members of your team. Not everyone has the same skill set or desire to get things done. Trying to keep everyone happy is the hardest thing. If you can keep the majority positive and happy you are winning. When you go the extra mile fro a customer and they remember what you have done for them then the relationship is made stronger. Once a positive relationship is made good things begin to happen for everyone evolved.

This is a perfect example of a career that the more you work, the more you make.  MacTools HQ is there to guide you and provide marketing materials, but you are fully allowed to take responsibility to make as much of the opportunity as you choose.

Requires LOTS of people skills, and lots of time in order to make enough money for a successful career.  The game is not about sales, it is about the entire cash flow cycle with a heavy emphasis on collections.  If you are not good at creating relationships where your customers treat your bill as a priority, you will not succeed at this.

I happen to be very good at it, and I did very well.

Handle 50 plus calls a day regarding all aspects of Credit related issues. Process credit applications for regular customers. Process and underwrite applications for new Franchisee candidates. Utilize 5 different programs during course of business daily. Good manager and good core of co-workers. Team concept is strong and is utilized daily. Working with 3rd party lender is challenging. Being liason between 3rd party lender and Distributors is challenging as well. Talking with Distributors nationwide is very enjoyable. Have made some very good relationships and many of them ask for my assistance personally due to my strong follow up for them.

Mac tools is a SCAM Buy a truck buy the tools....Mac tools just made a load of cash and they dont care about you any more....Ask about your Limited customer base......Ask about whats the life of a dealer.....and why....dont fall for you fail......ask about research showing the tool dealer failing.....internet. Ask for profit lost statments from local dealers, mac will say we dont work with them. they will send you to another state to a million dollar dealer, one that deals only with large corp, call local dealers and get real story....Region managers are crooks they charge you for stuff you never get..Mac is the worst of all the tool dealerships spend a little more go snap on

What is the best part of working at the company?
No matter how hard you work, it will take you years to overcome the previous failures that mac is notorious for.  It’s a hard enough job as it is, but it was a great launching pad before I ended up at Snap On. Good luck

Driving a Yellow and Red truck all the time

Good, there are plenty of hard working good people there. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
7-7 driving, selling, ect paperwork, put stuff away, and then do it again the next day. You will be in your own mostly.
