Very toxic work environment. Refuses to open up the rehab floor just to save a little money in their pockets. Instead they are putting rehab patients in with long term care residents. Each nurse on the long term care floors have a least 20+ long term care residents to begin with and then they want to put 4,5,6+ rehab patients on top of that. This is unsafe. Rehab patients are much more acute care patients than long term care and require more personal care than long term residents.  On a floor of 40+ residents they would only have 2 CNAs, on a good day 3. Now remind you these CNAs are now also taking care of the rehab patients as well. While the other rotation would be fully staffed with 4 cnas. But yet they swear they aren't showing favoritism. Actually, that is the first thing out of their mouth when you bring up the issue. Some days you're lucky if you have relief. They will literally work you short staffed  for 12 hrs and then wait till it's close to shift change and you will get a call from the staffing coordinator asking if you can stay till 11pm, because  she "couldn't find anyone". There have been times where staff members  have been put on the schedule just to make their numbers look good but that person never shows up and when you call them they say they never agreed to work. They will make you feel guilty for not picking up extra shifts and will use that against you at your yearly evaluation. Mind you that a full time nurse is committed to already giving them 84+ hrs a pay period. During this whole Covid outbreak hazard pay was given to the nurses and staff who worked the covid floor, which is fine, but it was also conveniently offered to staff members who picked up extra shifts, not on the covid floor. But yet full time nurses and CNAs who are committed to 84+ hrs got NOTHING. Even while taking care of these "possible positives" for covid. The signs and symptoms were all there, but the results haven't come back from their test. If you are a nurse you are responsible for EVERYTHING. They expect you to pick up the slack of the missing CNAs that they "couldn't find anyone" plus continue with your job. If a CNA didn't complete their job, finish their charting, shower sheets, etc..., it's the nurses fault, and the nurse gets written up for it. Because let's face it we have time to babysit a grown person on top of caring for 20+ patients. Remind you a handful of them are acute. Your upper management, DON and ADON, are sneaky and untrustworthy! They have not done anything towards me personally, but I've seen things done to other employees. The rules are constantly changing so that they benefit them. And trust me if they don't want you there anymore they will make it known. Unit Managers...let's see...I haven't had an issue out of them but I honestly don't know why they even have them. Oh wait, yes I do. They are only there to fill in holes for staffing and for someone upper management can put the blame on. They sell you a dream trying to get you to take the position but work you like a dog once you are in there. Upper management will tell you that it's your unit and your the manager run it as you see fit but turn around and over ride your decisions. And heaven forbid they make a decision for you or tell you how they want something done and it doesn't work out...it will automatically be the unit managers fault...if not the floor nurses. Upper management has no respect for anyone benith them. There is obviously favoritism. They don't even try to hide it. And if you're not part of the clique then you are a target. All of this is just my opinion and my point of view. If you can handle this toxic mess then by all means this is the place for you to work. This place will definitely show you what you don't want out of your future career. Oh, and to clear it up this is just in the East Building. I can't speak on the Assisted Living or the West building. 

I’m not usually one to write reviews for companies but I felt like I should warn those who are thinking of applying for this position. I originally applied as a full time worker here at the manor, my first week went well I learned all the basics. It wasn’t till my second week my manager hands me a completely new schedule with me only working 16 to 20 hours a day. I felt almost betrayed and when I went to HR to complain she tried to get me to work in two different jobs both with different skill sets.On top of that no one wants to work here, most nurses that I’ve met are rude to the residents and simply don’t care. I’ve had multiple times in the past few weeks where some of the CNAs have snuck out and left the unit hours early to never return that day, I’ve had to pick up the extra slack when these CNAs leave and management has done nothing about it. There’s been times where residents have asked for help and the nurses have made rude comments about that resident under their breath or to another nurse on the unit. On multiple occasions residents have hit the call light and none of the nurses at the station go to answer it, it makes me really sympathize with the residents there, that there only form of care doesn’t really care or want to help them. Plus on top of that there’s been multiple times where no one is on the unit and they’re hiding in their break room. I’ve tried multiple times to message management about these matters and I’ve still gotten no response.To make matters worse they’ve been letting people in my position go including me for the reason that they have hired to many people, which doesn’t make sense since they are currently still hiring for the position I worked. As I’ve said I’m not usually one to write reviews but I feel like the public and those who are interested in this place should know to avoid working here at all cost.

one on one with each resident, building a  caring, sharing relationship with them and family; focusing on my work, showering, or giving a bed bath  observing residents skin; changing residents clothing, taking their vital sings; serving their food on the food cart, changing beds, tidying room, delivering messages to the nurse in charge; staying on top of charting, and residents needs.

Learning to listen chain of command and residents; to be more concerned about their needs and making them happen as much as possible. Staying abreast on tasks, keeping up with changes, and not to get emotional and taking everything personal.

Respecting management and reporting to them when there's a need, outside of my scope of practice. If I have a problem with management go to DON.

Co-workers are to be respected and team players, communication is a must, and to understand that we r all in this together to serve the Residents. Being to work on time was a plus for us. In an overall I enjoyed my co workers and they enjoyed me.

Hardest part of the job for me is when I need help with a resident, that is a two person, and I call for extra assistance and they take their time, or just don't show up, I had to learn how to work around that to keep from loosing to much time.

The most enjoyable part of the job for me is when the Residents smiled when I came into their presence, knowing that they knew I cared about them and served them well. The one's that didn't smile when I finished working with them a few times, would end up smiling. And to work with Co-workers that were patient when need be and great team players.

Work itself was great and meaningful.  I preformed my responsibilities above most others abilities and did so with pleasure.  The department worked awesomely for a great deal of time.  During my hire I was told that with my loyalty and hard work, I would work into a certain career path.  All reviews indicated this would be the case.  However, when it came time for a certain advancement opportunity, the hiring process was done in private and I found out about it and then was given the opportunity to "apply" for the job that I had been working towards for 10+ years.  This job did not become mine due to collusion of management, and to my displeasure I was required to assist training a new manager that did not respect my opinions or recommendations when they even listened.  Even though I retained a considerable amount of job responsibilities during the vacancy because the new manager refused to take the responsibilities back, I was told a new salary was to be negotiated. This was ultimately just decided by management which turned out to be meaningless when compared to the amount of work inherited.  Deciding to leave a company that I poured my heart and soul into was THE most difficult decision I ever made in my career.  I honestly wish it had never came to that, as I miss the job more than I ever expected.  I just wish that Magnolia Manor would learn to appreciate it's employees and retain those that work above and beyond for the company.  I don't know why I ever thought my situation would be any different than any others, because management does this to long time employees WAY more than they should.

	Follows all Privacy laws; protecting my patient and the organization.
	Adheres to patient’s bill of rights. 
	Documents actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
	Does all continued education credits as needed to keep certification up to date and further my knowledge in the field.
	Maintains a positive friendly and caring attitude toward patients, guests, and faculty at the facility at all times, while practicing safe work ethics.
	Adheres to company policies. 
	Receptionist/ administrative clerical (Faxing, multi-phone line, greeting potential new patients, data entry).

I have no complaints about the cnas or nurses.  They are very good people to work with.  The upper management and the coordinators are not. They are very unprofessional when dealing with the staff.  They work them as much as they can, but complain when the staff gets burned out and wants to take vacation.  When you want a day off, they accuse you of being a sorry worker and tell other staff members you're lazy.  And even though they know they are short, instead of coming to the staff's aid and taking a cart or a floor assignment, they sit in their offices and complain about how the staff performance is. They have ran plenty of very good nurses and cnas away because of this.  If the corporate office would clean house with upper management and get some decent people to run it, that place could be 5 stars like it use to be before this group of management came in.

Daily interactions with staff and clients while celebrating milestones, supporting families, or providing companionship when needed.

Working at this location was very stressful at time for my position. A new director was hired and changed everything and people were being fired everyday. I think she thought she was improving the facility and it actually was getting worse. 

The pay sucks for any position, I think with the amount they were paying for benefits it weighted itself out. Their was no holidays off because you do work in a nursing facility. Being around the elderly and assisting them with their daily life activities was a great plus. The hardest part about the job is getting to know the residents and then coming to work and finding out they had passes away.


Many people call out of work so most of the time it is short staffed. Vacation and sick days are together considered as PTO.

I love the atmosphere of Magnolia's Assisted Living in Saint Simon's, which was what initially drew me in. Many of the residents were great to work with, as well as some of the staffers. Management was good - very supportive and approachable. My biggest issues were low pay and understaffing. I thought the benefit were great, especially the amount of PTO, however most of it went unused due to not having extra staff to cover shifts. I also thought the workplace was very disorganized and they badly need to implement technology instead of doing everything on paper. 

Working in the laundry department at magnolia manor, you're constantly on the move because their is so much to get done, From sorting & washing clothes to returning items in a timely manner.While working at magnolia I was given the opportunity to train others in my department. My supervisor was the type who encouraged his employees to train in more than one area of the department there. I for example was able to work as a housekeeper,laundry aide, floor tech. I liked the people that I worked with.The hardest part of the job is standing & lifting heavy bags of laundry. The most enjoyable part of the job were the people that lived at magnolia manor.
